An incredible spirit and wonderful person passed away peacefully at the Ottawa General Hospital on Thursday September 11, 2008, in her 59th year. Beloved wife and best friend of John Harcourt. Loving mother of Anne Harcourt and her husband David Power. Adoring Nana of Mark and Sarah Power. Nancy was predeceased by her parents Jim and Peggy Tubman. Survived by her loving aunts, cousins and many dear friends.
Nancy never missed a chance to share a smile or pass on joy and had an amazing ability to capture hearts, even of those she just met. An incredible strength and resolve second to none, she will be dearly missed.

Gagné, Gérard (RCAF Captain, ret.) (Gerry) passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 11, 2008, surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his beloved wife Karen and his eldest son Michael. Survived by his children Annette McCleave, Lise Edwards, Andrée Gagné, and Mark Gagné. Lovingly remembered by his surviving brothers and sisters Madeleine, Laurent, Colette, Charles, Denis, Lise, Michel, Claire, Pierre and Suzanne. Sadly missed by his granddaughters Taylor, Lauren, and Stephanie. Gerry’s life was defined by his love of family and his service to community and country, which he embraced with passion and unflagging joie de vivre. A dedicated officer in the RCAF, he proudly served as a fighter pilot during the cold war and later as a Search and Rescue helicopter pilot. Upon retiring from the military, he continued his love of aviation as a flight safety inspector with Transport Canada. He will forever be remembered for his generosity, can-do attitude, and community spirit. To the caring doctors, nurses and support staff of the Palliative Care Outreach Program, We Care, In Home Hospice and Home Instead, we offer our heartfelt thanks. A Service in remembrance of Gerry’s life will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 20th at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean, with visiting hours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Palliative Care Outreach Program would be greatly appreciated.

After graduating from the Ottawa Civic Hospital (56B) and following several years of hospital nursing, Shirley joined the RCN, with twenty years of service, including postings at HMCS Stadacona (Halifax), Naden (Victoria), Cornwallis, Comox, Summerside, Holberg, Masset, Penhold, Moose Jaw, Trenton and Petawawa, specializing in medevac's and SAR recoveries. She returned to Ottawa where she completed her career at the West End Villa and the Cdn. Corps of Commissionaires, as well as caring for her parents in later years. Jean passed away at home in Kanata on October 6 2008. She was surrounded by her family and her lovely nurse, Caroline. To the end she was aware and engaged in the world around her. Her great sense of humour and love of life were abundantly evident. She had a long and full life with her husband Cameron and four children, Gordon (Barbara), Peter (Elona), Chris and Suzanne (Paul). She also loved and was loved by her sister Nora, her four grandchildren, Lindsay, Nicholas, Laura, Alex and her great grand daughter, Ava.
