MacKenzie: Lorraine Suddenly at the Ottawa General Hospital, on Sunday November 23, 2003 at the age of 73. Predeceased by her husband William. Dear daughter of Mary Hamilton. Loving mother of Sandra Bourdon (Ron), William (Louise), Doug and Rob (Rachelle). Proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd. (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.), on Thursday November 27, 2003 from 3:00 p.m. until the Funeral Service in the chapel at 7:00 p.m. Cremation. On October 23, 2008, peacefully, with her family by her side, after a long illness. Born March 31, 1931 in Hoogkerk, The Netherlands. Loving wife of 56 years of Fred (Feitze) Wiersema. Beloved mother of John (Marilyn), Alice Van Ryswyk (John), Ed, and George (Linda). Adored Oma of 9 grandchildren, Stephen, Matthew, Adam, David, Meagan, Brittany, Michael, Alec and Jessica. Cherished great Oma of Skye and Grace. Booth, F. Lorne
Peacefully in his sleep surrounded by adoring family and dreaming of breakfast at Kristy’s, on October 24, 2008 in his 92nd year. Lorne will be greatly missed by his loving wife and best friend Betty (Roberts), his children Barb, Gord and Cathy, John and Leslie, Tom and Tam and his grandchildren Katie, Kristy and Dave, Kevin, Tim, Ali, Graham and Patrick. Predeceased by his close sister Dodie (Stan) Brunton of Sudbury. Lorne will also be fondly remembered by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins and their families, and by dear friends with whom he shared countless good times at the cottage, winters in Venice Florida, golf at Pontiac, curling, playing tennis or over rousing games of bridge. His zest for life, mischievous sense of humour and kind and selfless character were an inspiration to all who knew him. The family would like to thank the staff at the Civic Hospital Dialysis Unit and at Unitarian House as well as the Palliative care team for their kindness and support. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Unitarian House or to the Kidney Foundation. A celebration of Lorne’s life will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd), Nepean on Monday, October 27th, 2008 at 2 p.m.

Carson, Rodney Gordon
January 23, 1925 to October 24, 2008
passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Friday, October 24, 2008 in his 84th year. Survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Yvonne (Dallaire), his children Lucille (John Thibeault), Charles Carson and Diane (Doug Pigeon), his step-grandsons Stephen (Bonnie) and Brent (Julie) Pigeon, and by his step-great-grandchildren Keely, Cassandra, Joshua and Spencer Pigeon. Also survived by his sisters Janice Poaps and Wilda (Ron Aspeck), many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Leslie, Norman and Burnell. Cherished grandmother of Jason, John, James and Spencer and step-grandmother of Mike, Peter, Steve and Chris. Survived by many nieces, nephews and by a sister-in-law Isabel Campbell. Predeceased by brothers Archie, Kenneth, Allan, Neil, Duncan and by sisters Edna McEwen and Kathleen Henderson. Dixon, Joyce Barbara (nee Champkin)
Born in Bedfordshire, England, January 18, 1921, Joyce passed away peacefully in Ottawa on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at the age of 87. She was the dear mother of Ann McDonald (Paul), and very proud of, and loved being Granny to Heather McDonald (Brad Thornton) and Ian McDonald. Survived by her sister Betty Goodall (Cliff Mounsey). Predeceased by her husband Rex Dixon, her son John, and her brother Douglas. Peacefully in hospital on Monday, October 27, 2008, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Audrey Woods. Dear father of Jim (Joyce). Predeceased by his daughter Barbara Macdonald. Mother and friend of Jean (Peter Coultas), Jan (Ron Smith) and Jennifer Nell Hepworth. Grandma Nell will be missed by her many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their children. Seaborn (nee Lind), Betty Fanny Rose
Peacefully at home with her family on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at the age of 67 years. Beloved wife of John. Loving mom of Robert and his wife Leslie, and Pamela and her husband Michael Mahoney. She is predeceased by her daughter Susan Rose. Proud grandmother of Jennie and Laura Seaborn, and Mark, John and Daniel Mahoney. Dear sister of Jean and her husband David Kelly. Predeceased by her identical twin sister Bonnie Candow. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her passion for perennial gardening and her many beautiful gardens. Irvine, Lieutenant Commander Thomas Arthur
CD RCN RTD
passed away in Ottawa October 27, 2008. He is survived by his wife Rosemary (nee Grier); children Geoffrey (Kim Dorrington) and Victoria (Gene Rheaume); and grandchildren Amanda, Jenessa, Thomas and Benjamin. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1924, he attended Watson's College from whence he joined The Thames Nautical Training College in 1939 as a cadet in HMS Worcester. Following graduation in 1941 he was appointed Midshipman RNR. Serving 1942-44, in the cruisers: HMS Newcastle (Indian Ocean) and HMS Mauritius (Mediterranean). Appointed Sub Lieutenant RNR he joined the corvette HMS Lancaster Castle (Russian Convoy Escort) 1944-45. Appointed Lieutenant RNR he joined the destroyer HMS Zest (NW Europe) 1945-46. Following WWII he joined the RN Hydrographic Service qualifying as a Hydrographic Surveyor. Upon release from Active Service with the Royal Navy, he obtained a Certificate of Competency as Master of a Foreign Going Steamship following which he served as 2nd Mate in the British Merchant Navy. In 1950, he came to Canada joining the Royal Canadian Navy in 1952. As Hydrographer, he joined HMCS Labrador in 1954 for her epic maiden voyage circumnavigating North America by way of the Northwest Passage. He subsequently wrote the book "The Ice Was All Between" which described this event. The following season, 1955, Labrador conducted operations in the Eastern Arctic. Further sea service in the frigates: HMCS Buckingham as Executive Officer 1956-58 and HMCS Stettler in Command 1965-67, completed his naval service afloat. Significantly, ashore, he served as the Naval Hydrographer at Naval Headquarters, Ottawa. Tom retired from the navy in 1970. After his naval career, he pursued an active consulting practice as an Arctic specialist, served some 10 years in Canadian Coast Guard Arctic Region and made annual voyages as Ice Master assisting cruise ships throughout the Northwest Passage well into his seventies. Tom was a member of: Naval Officers' Association of Canada; Canadian Nautical Research Society; Arctic Circle of Ottawa; Old Worcesters and Old Watsonians. A private family service to be held on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Nepean Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes.

Jones, Georgina (Gene) née Thomas
In hospital, following a brief illness, on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, with her beloved husband Lyness by her side. Loving daughter of the late Sybil (née Armer) and Evan Thomas. Dear sister of the late Evelyn Fraser (the late Roger), Gordon (Yvonne) of Perth, Clifford (Gladys) of Calgary, Grace Rogers (the late Harvey) of Winnipeg, Bill (Beverly) of Collingwood, Stanley (Heather) of Ottawa and Terry (Christine) of BC. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Lynne Metke (Ken). Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road (at Roosevelt) on Saturday, November 8, 2008 from 2:00 pm until time of Memorial Service in the Chapel at 3:00 pm. Taylor, Robert Morrison (Bob)
In Ottawa on October 30 after a fall at the age of 85. Beloved wife of Jackie Taylor (nee Aikens) both of Richmond, originally from Montreal. Loving father of Don (Nancy) and Sue (John Willson). He will be missed dearly by his grandchildren Kevin, Leanne, Ally, Sarah and Scott. Proud Canadian and veteran of RCAF 431 Bomber Squadron. He enjoyed his 37 years with Bell Canada. A true sportsman and avid golfer, great husband, father and grandfather. He added life to every gathering. A heartfelt thanks to the efforts and compassion of the Civic Emergency and ICU staff. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes 3440 Richmond Rd (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd) on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9p.m. A Memorial service will be held in the Chapel on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Internment at Capital Memorial Gardens. Leitch, Isabel
Peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2008 in her 94th year. Beloved wife for 62 years of the late Clarence Leitch. Loving mother of Carol Dell (nee Leitch). She was proud of her three grandchildren and their spouses; Cheryl Dell (John Wilkinson), Laureen Richards-nee Dell (Marc) and Colin Dell (Heather). Four great-grandchildren also provided her with lots of joy; Samantha and Alexandra Dell, and Justin and Evan Richards. Born on March 15, 1917 on Calumet Island, Quebec, Dorothy passed away peacefully on Friday morning, October 31, 2008 in Ottawa. Beloved wife for 63 years to George. Loving mother of Mary (John Barr) of Burlington, ON, Brenda (Gary Goudie) of Ottawa, and Diane (Dale Bailey) of Jacksonville, Florida. Proud Grandma of Larissa, Andy, Kerri-Ann, Jeffrey, Bryson, Melissa and Elizabeth. Dear sister of Ella Chorich, Anna Lacey, Veronica Kirland and Martina Almeida. Predeceased by sisters Mary McGarrity and Mildred Lovingood and by brother Gerald Griffin. She will also be greatly missed by her Godchild Grace Griffin-Kent, many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Robillard, Rock Anthony

McGill B.Sc. 1950 WW II Veteran (429 Squadron) Ottawa Board of Education (Retired) Secure in the love of his family, Rock Robillard passed away with peace and dignity on Monday, October 27th in hospital. Dad was so much to so many. Loving husband of his high school sweetheart, the late Jean Kippen. Treasured father of Wendy (Al McKinnon), Patty (David Jeffrey), and Nancy Du Vall. Proud "Gramps" of Amy Hanley (Jon-Paul), Casey McKinnon (Cheryl), Katie Blair (Jon), Maggie Jeffrey, Brendan and Rebecca Du Vall, and recent Great-Grandfather of Myla McKinnon and Sadie Hanley. Son of the late Lois and Anthony Robillard. Dear brother of Joan (the late Reg Burr), Henry, Betty (Michael Nash), Matthew, and Laurie (Jack Labelle). Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Rock, or "Rocky" as he was fondly known, wore many hats, most of them red. He was a gifted athlete and humble recipient of many athletic awards, proud WW II veteran, respected teacher/administrator and coach (McGill, University of Ottawa, St. Pat's, and Fisher Park, Ridgemont and Highland Park High Schools), local sportscaster (CFRA, CJOH), play-by-play announcer (Ottawa Rough Riders), engaging storyteller, jazz lover, loyal friend and neighbour. A very special thank you for the dignity, respect, personal support and medical attention provided by the dedicated and caring staff at the Empress Retirement Residence in Kanata, the Dialysis Unit at the Ottawa Hospital (General Campus), Dr. Robert Glinski, and Tim Allaby. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Rock's life at a memorial service at Holy Redeemer Church, 44 Rothesay Drive, Kanata on Saturday, November 8th, at 11 am (refreshments immediately following). Interment at Norway Bay United cemetery to take place at a later date. In Rock's memory, donations in lieu of flowers to the Hemodialysis Unit of the Ottawa Hospital (General Campus), 501 Smyth Road, Ottawa, ON, K1H 8L6, would be greatly appreciated.
