Hyland-MacDonald, Lori A.
December 15, 1959 - November 1, 2008
It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of our dear Lori. Lori lived her final days like she lived her entire life, with dignity, grace and humour. She will be forever loved and treasured by her beloved children, David, Matthew and Jonathan, whom she adored. Predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, Allen J. MacDonald (son of the late Frank and Margaret MacDonald). She was the dear daughter of the late Ken and Barbara Hyland. Always loving sister of Debbie (Cliff Davies) and Sharon Hyland (Deb Elvidge). Special sister-in-law to Marilyn (John Scott), Lorna (Richard Beairsto), Kathy (John Allen) and Tisha (Camille Caucci). Much loved aunt to Brian, Michael, Robbie, Ashley, Alexandra, Jacqueline, Johnny, Jeffrey, Julia, Sarah, Olivia, Devon and Erin. She will be greatly missed by her numerous friends, colleagues, many hockey, soccer and football pals and also her cherished companion, her dog Molly. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Baseline Rd. and Bayshore Dr.), Nepean on Tuesday, November 4th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St.Patrick Basilica, 281 Nepean St., Ottawa on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. In memory of Lori those wishing may make a donation to The Lori Hyland-MacDonald Scholarship Fund, University of Ottawa Planned Giving Office 190 Laurier Ave E Ottawa, ON K1N 9Z9 or the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Peacefully on November 3, 2008 at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Ida Sharpe and loving father of Steven. Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road at Roosevelt on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel in Thursday November 6, 2008 at 11 a.m. followed by interment at Pinecrest cemetery. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Bruce Harris on Friday, October 31, 2008. Bruce will be deeply missed by his beloved son Kurt, his mother Claire, his siblings Cindy (late Chris Gaffney), Gretchen (Steve Dubreuil), Dan, and Jennifer, as well as his nieces (Stephanie, Bryanna) and nephews (Ryan, Danny, Dylan, Max), Dominique Bourg, and his many good friends. Predeceased by his father Neil. We will miss his great sense of fun, killer wit, unique sensitivity, artistry, crossword prowess and his very special place at our big dinner table. Gray – Myra Georgina (nee Wilson – R.N.) Peacefully on November 22, 2003 at the age of 98 years after a long battle with Alzheimers Disease. Predeceased by her husband Sydney William Gray. Dear mother to David (Faye) Bawlf, Alta. and Paul (Joan) Chilliwack, B.C. Grandmother to Stephen (Michelle) Port Moody, B.C., Kelly (Jim) Ottawa, Kimberley (Dan) Pincher Creek, Alta., and Danny (Katie) Chelsea Que. Also survived by 8 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Island Lodge for the love, support and excellent care given by the staff of the Lodge. No service by request. Cremated Remains to rest for eternity at Beechwood cemetery.

Buck, Dorothy Jean (Gervan) Surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 27, 2003 in her 86th year, she joins her beloved husband Irwin, of 62 years in eternal peace. Cherished mother of Gwen Paul (Clint Gaebel) Ernie, Fred, Cheryl Sik (Harry), Audrey Mantha (Andre) and Eddie (Karen). Loving grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Survived by sister in law Florence Gervan and predeceased by sisters Eva Mulroney and Irene Day and brothers Eddie, Lloyd, Harry, Bert and Billy. Dorothy will also be missed by her brother in law Pat Buck (Laura) and sisters' in law Mary Bradley, Mavis Buck, Berna Turner and Doris Wilcox (Mervin). Newman, Josephine Marie
Newman - Josephine Marie May 19, 1940 - November 25, 2003 It is with the greatest sorrow that we sadly announce the tragic passing of my dear and beautiful wife after her courageous struggle during a lengthy illness. Predeceased by her father and mother Emanuelle and Lydia, she leaves to mourn her devoted and loving husband Robert Charles Newman of Ottawa; three sons and their families: Fabio (Ilaria) of Italy and two grandchildren, Julia and Filippo; Alex (Lorenza) of Italy and grandchild Matilde; and Giulio (Erin) of Tampa, Florida; and many good friends and relatives. married to Robert on December 23, 2001, at Glebe St. James United Church in Ottawa, Josephine was an elegant, vibrant and generous lady who always took special care to ensure her home for all who entered was a place of happiness and comfort, meditation, music and harmony, flowers, art and beauty, and above all love. Her door was always open, her welcoming with a warm, beautiful, unforgetable smile; her table immaculately adorned, her cuisine without equal, and her special style unique and exquisite. Born in Augusta, Italy, she later moved and lived many years in the United States, and eventually Canada, where she had a remarkable and admirable career, including managing a successful art gallery in Washington DC; working as a diplomatic liaison for the US office of Information; travelling and lecturing as a Fulbright professor; later for Health Canada; and then as Research Advisor the the Senate of Canada inthe office of Senator Sheila Finestone. During her residence in the USA, she earned a Master of Arts in International Studies and Economics from Drew University. Josephine was an articulate and intelligent woman who overcame many obstacles in her life.

The family expresses its sincerest gratitude to the medical staff at Ottawa General and Ottawa Carleton hospitals, VON nursing, community home care and support nursing services. He leaves behind his wife Pearl, children Wanda (Fred), Waneta (Bruce), Brenda (Steve), Pauline (Lyle), Stewart and Steven, grandchildren Travis, Shawn, Shanna, Jason, Scott, Chad, Philip and Kelly and great-grandchildren Madison, Stephanie, Kyle and Krista. Predeceased by his sisters Kathleen, Marjorie and Gwen and brother Jack. Dear father of Stewart and Lawrence Paterson. Grandfather of Lori Paterson. Also survived by his stepchildren, John A. Beggs, and Janet Dow as well as 4 step-grandchildren.
