Gary William Dunning - 01/01/2006

1933-2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Gary William Dunning, age 72 on December 30, 2005. Deeply loved husband and best friend of Mary (Montgomery). Proud and devoted father of Jeffrey (Natasha) and Laurie Lambourne (Justin). Will be sadly missed by his sisters Helen Clost (late Vince), Margaret Paine (late Lewis) Sherborne Massachusetts, Lois Dixon (Desi), Marion Tommy (late Andy) Wakefield and brother-in-law Jack (Daniele). Predeceased by his sister Grace and brothers Raymond (late Evelyn) and Bernard (Denise), father Carleton, and mother Marion. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends and family may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Tuesday January 3rd, 2006 from 2 4pm and 7 9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, January 4th, 2006 at 1pm. Interment Beechwood cemetery. In memoriam donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated. A special thank you for the valiant efforts made by the paramedics. Your loving manner and mischievous smile will be forever cherished within the hearts of all you have touched.

Solomon Dworkin - 12/27/2005

Peacefully after a long illness Solomon Dworkin passed away on December 27, 2005 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Mildred. Dear father to Lisa Kerr (Bruce), Marianne Dworkin (Mark Thurman). Dear step-father to Debra Young (Tony Falsetto) and Shanna Young (Bob MacNelly). Grandpa to Jacob and Ariel Kerr and Poppa to Tessia and Daniel Falsetto. Brother of the late Alec Dworkin (Lillian), the late Miriam Waddington and his fraternal twin David Dworkin. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry 315 McLeod St, Ottawa on Wednesday December 28, 2005 from 1:30 p.m. until service time in the chapel at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Parkinson's Society. Thank you to the wonderful caregivers, most recently at Hillel Lodge and previously at Billings Lodge.

Annie (Ann) Gannon (nee Fletcher) - 12/28/2005

In hospital on Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at the age of 89 years. Predeceased by her beloved husband John Gannon. Loving mother of Kathryn (Kathy) and her husband Frank Potter. Loving grandmother of Krystal Pulfer (Josh), Ross and Meagan. Dear sister of Victor Fletcher (Dorothy) and predeceased by her sister Eva Shipclark and brother James. Survived by many nieces and nephews in Ontario and British Columbia. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, December 31, 2005 at 10am. Interment Pinecrest cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Dear cousin and best friend of Madeleine Legault and her family. Predeceased by her parents Ad lard Gervais and Henriette Gratton, sister D lia Beland (the late Tom) and brother Isidore Gervais. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, December 22, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 95 Somerset Street West, Ottawa on Friday, December 23, 2005 at 11am. Cremation. Interment of Urn will be held in the family plot in La Passe, Ontario in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Hospice at May Court, 114 Cameron Avenue, Ottawa, K1S 0X1 or to The Shepherds of Good Hope, 233 Murray Street, Ottawa, K1N 5M9 would be appreciated. Special thanks to The Hospice at May Court and to the Ottawa Hospital General Campus for their loving care and compassion.

William Joseph Gillis - 01/03/2006

At the Peter D. Clark Centre on Monday, January 2, 2006, William Joseph Gillis, beloved husband of the late Marjorie Irene Kight. Fondly remembered by his daughter-in-law Marolyn, granddaughter Tara, sisters-in-law Shirlee, Barbara and friend Mona Coleman. Predeceased by his sons Brian, Ronald and brothers Gordon, Harry and John. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Friday, January 6 from 12noon until service time in the chapel at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VON or charity of your choice.

Oscar Gravelle - 12/23/2005

formerly of Renfrew and Pembroke, at Ottawa on December 23, 2005 in his 93rd year. Loving husband of the late Ethel Austin for 57 years. Devoted and generous father of Patricia Perron, Austin (Margaret), Ron (Joan), Mary Elizabeth Vecchio (Patrick), Sharon (Bob Part), Murray (Lorna Barker), Catherine Rousselle (Xavier), Brian (Connie) and Rosemary (Gregory McCrea). Affectionately known as Poppy to 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild who especially cherish the good times they shared with him at the Hurds Lake cottage. Survived by his brother, Godfrey Gravelle (Leona). Predeceased by parents Gideon and Mae Gravelle and brothers Albert, Owen and Clayton. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Oscar was born in Pembroke in 1913 and was a respected businessman in retail furniture in Renfrew, Pembroke, Deep River and Petawawa. He loved his work and spent 40 years as the owner of Renfrew Home Furnishings. He was honoured as Renfrew s Businessperson of the Year in 1986. Oscar was active in his community and the lives of his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched. Former member of the Renfrew Lions Club, Knights of Columbus (Fourth Degree), St. Francis Xavier Parish, Renfrew, and St. Joseph s Parish, Ottawa. Special thanks to the staff at St. Joseph s Manor, Orleans and the Palliative Care Staff of the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations to Palliative Care Unit of the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre, St. Joseph Parish Supper Table or the Alzheimer s Society would be appreciated. Norman Gerald & Marjorie Ruth Gray - 01/02/2006

To honour the memory of Norman and Marjorie who passed away in the Fall of 2005, their son Geoffrey and their grandchildren Shannon and Shawn invite family and friends to attend a memorial service at the West Chapel of Hulse,Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenu at Richmond Road on Friday, January 6, 2006 at 2pm.

Stephanie Anne (nee Matthews) Harker - 12/23/2005

On Thursday, December 22, 2005, quietly and having just celebrated her 85th birthday. Born and raised in Hereford, England, Stephanie served with distinction in the British Army during World War II. She joined up as a Private, but was chosen for officer training, and rose to the rank of Major. She served in England, India, Ceylon and Burma. She was on the General s staff of the British army in New Delhi and was subsequently promoted to Deputy Chief of Supply for the proposed invasion of Malaya. After the end of hostilities, she remained in Singapore to coordinate the repatriation of the Japanese prisoners of war. When she returned to England, she studied at Girton College, Cambridge. In 1948, newly wed, she immigrated to Ottawa, where she lived happily for the rest of her life. She was very involved in the creation of the new community of Manor Park, one of the earliest post-war suburbs in Canada, and remained an active volunteer to the end. She was predeceased in 1995 by her husband of 47 years, Dr. Peter Harker, and will be sadly missed by her children: Paul and Mary, Jennifer, Angela and Terry Joyce, Rosemary and Robert Race, and her grandchildren: Peter, Alexandra, Graeme and Nigel. A memorial Service will be held at the Church of St. Columba, 24 Sandridge Road, Ottawa on Wednesday, December 28 at 2 p.m. Grateful thanks to the emergency staff at the Montfort Hospital for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Organ Donation & Transplant Association of Canada, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated.

On Tuesday, December 27th, 2005 Mildred C. Hickman, daughter of the late Dennis and Annie Hickman. Dear aunt of Albon M. Hickman (Diane) of Burlington, Ontario and Margo Jones (Wayne). Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Friday, December 30th, 2005 from 11:30am until service time in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Interment Beechwood cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Jerzy Henryk (George) Holownia - 12/20/2005

At the Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre on Monday, December 19, 2005 at the age of 88. Survived by his brother Olgierd Holownia of Warsaw, Poland and his sons George Czerny (Nancy) of Collingwood, ON, Thaddeus Holownia (Gay) and Mikolaj (Nicholas) Czerny-Holownia (Kim). Grandfather of Stephen, Doug, Joseph, Inga, Theo, Julian, Kasimir, Emma, Lucas and great-grandfather of five. Friends may visit at Central Central of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, December 22nd, 2005 from 10am until 12noon. A Memorial Service will be held in the spring.
