At Lakeridge Health, Bowmanville on Sunday January 20, 2002 in his 82nd year. Gerry, beloved husband of Anna Maria "Mary" Berkers-VanVeghel and the late "Anna" Maria Stoop. Loved father of Betsy Gerrits, Joe and his wife Marylou, of Courtice, Peter and his wife Emma of Solina, John and his wife Denise of Enniskillen, Jane (Mrs. Gary Parlette) of Seagrave, Jerry Jr. and his wife Marie of Blackstock, Frank and Margaret of Barrie and the late Theo Gerrits. Mary's children, Bill VanVeghel and his wife Linda, Mary and her late husband Tony VanderVleuten, Elizabeth and her husband Bill Woods, Martin VanVeghel and his wife Teresa, Anna and her husband Ron Guscott, Louise and her husband Dwayne Brown and Cathy Landry. Loving grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren. Friends may pay their respects to the family at the Morris Funeral Chapel, 4 Division Street, Bowmanville on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass from St. Therese Roman Catholic Church, 300 Courtice Rd. N., Courtice on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Prayer service in the Morris Chapel on Tuesday at 7p.m. Interment Bowmanville cemetery. Donations made in Gerry's memory to Rotary Special Needs Children or St. Therese Roman Catholic Church would be gratefully appreciated.

TSAI, William -
After a brief illness, William Te Yang Tsai passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, January 20th, 2002. He was surrounded by his loving wife Amy, closest friend Dr. James Kwart, bother Paul Tsai and his wife Marilyn, sisters Olivia Lo and Joan Huang and their spouses James and Jean, sons David Tsai, John Tsai and Robert Cochrane and daughters Wendy Tsai Cochrane, Neveen Tsai and Carolyn Tsai and his adored grandchildren Rochelle, Erica, Alexander and Shannon. William will be respectfully missed and remembered always by his family and friends. Friends may call at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE “Thornton Chapel” 847 King St. West (905-721-1234) for visitation on Friday, January 25th from 7 - 9 RM. Funeral Service will he held in the Chapel on Saturday, January 26th at 12:30P.M. Interment Thornton cemetery. COMPORT, Ethel (1910-2002) -
It is with great sadness that the family of Ethel Comport announce her passing on Saturday, January 19th, 2002 at the age of 91. Loving wife of Percy predeceased in 1997. Ethel will be forever remembered by her daughter Marion Grace, Garden City Michigan, daughter June and her husband Jim Cruickshank, Bewdley Ontario and son Robert and his wife Barbara, Milton Ontario. Predeceased by son Gordon Comport and son-in-law Joe Grace. Cherished grandma of 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren. Ethel will be remembered by many relatives and friends whose paths she had touched throughout the years. Ethel will be remembered for the countless hours she dedicated to her gardens at her home on Old Forest Road following her retirement from the Scarborough General Hospital. Her gentleness and love for family were truly remarkable. The family would like to thank the caring and dedicated doctors, nurses and staff who cared for her. Friends will be received at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cobourg General Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Percy and Ethel are together again forever.

passed away at the Ajax-Pickering Hospital, on Saturday, January 19, 2002. Loving wife of John F. Nemeth. Beloved mother of John and Janice, Marilyn Chafe, Michael and Lisa, Marianne and Steve Fearon. Dear grandmother of Timothy, Jennifer, Stephanie, David, Thomas and Katherine. The family will receive friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Funeral Mass at St. Francis de Sales Church, 82 Church Street South Ajax (Pickering Village) on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. Interment - Pine Ridge Memorial Gardens. Should family and friends so desire, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.

PORTER, Ruth Evelyn (nee Chappel) -
(Long-time resident of Wilmot Creek and founding secretary of Wilmot Creek Home Owners Association). At Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, with her husband at her side, on Saturday, January 19, 2002, in her 80th year. Ruth, beloved wife of Timothy (Tim) Porter. Dear mother of Timothy (Tim Jr.), and Ronald and his wife Jana, all of Toronto. Sadly missed by grandchildren Catherine, Jessica, Jesse, Jamie, and Elliott. Peacefully passed away at the Lakeridge Health Centre, Whitby, on Saturday, January 19, 2002. Thelma Marie Priestman in her 68th year. Beloved wife of Murray. Loving mother of David, Cheryl, Robin and her husband Jim Bedford and Mark and his wife Laurie. Cherished nanny to 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. (Member of the Frenchman's Bay Yacht Club). passed away on Friday, January 18, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer. Loving father of Michael and his wife Heather, Susan and her husband Kevin. BOYES, Ronald (Ron), Msc, CGA -
Born in Hamilton, December 19, 1946, died at home in Ajax, January 17, 2002. Beloved husband of Mandy (Marilyn) (nee Billiald), proud father of Aaron, Graham and Alison, all at home. Survived by his brother Dennis of Toronto and his sisters Lisa of East York and Jan of West Lafayette, India. Sadly missed by the Billiald in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Ron will be remembered for his passion for life and his inspiring courage and positive outlook, even in the face of death. The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the loving care given to Ron by the health professionals at Sunnybrook Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, Rouge Valley Health Centres, Durham Hospice, Durham Respite, V.O.N.'s, St. Elizabeth and ParaMed and for the palliative care of Dr. John Vu. We sincerely appreciate the support of friends, neighbours and co-workers at the Ontario Ministry of Finance and the Ajax Public Library. The family will receive friends at the Accettone Funeral Home, 384 Finley Ave., Ajax, on Sunday, January 27th between 1-3 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service to celebrate Ron's life. Peacefully at Extendicare Nursing Home in Oshawa on Thursday, January 17, 2002. Charles, in his 80th year. Beloved husband of Shirley (nee Masson). Loving father of Lynn Bernier and her husband Jack, Kelly O'Donnell and her husband Scott, Kim Cameron and her husband Terry, predeceased by his son Glen Roach. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Todd, William, Shaun, Krystal, Kyle, Ashley, and Curtis. Great-grandfather of Anna. Survived by his brother Gordon Roach and his wife Joan. Charles will be sadly missed by all of his friends and family. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa. With Funeral Service in the Chapel on Saturday, January 19th at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Scarborough.
