VAN BRUGGEN, John -
Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Tuesday, April 22, 2002 in his 70th year. John will be lovingly remembered by his family: son John and his wife Arna; daughter Melanie and her husband David; son Anthony and his wife Caryn; granddaughters Amanda and Nicole and great-grandchildren Kendra, Kourtney, Tanner, Jared and Emily. He will be greatly missed by surviving sisters Margaret, Tonnie, Ludy, twin sister Jotie, and brother Gerard; predeceased by his mother, father and sister Gonda. Will be sadly missed by special friends Fran and Bertha. Past president of the Oshawa Camera Club, John was an avid outdoorsman and tennis player. Special thanks to everyone at Durham Access to Care, Lakeridge Health Oshawa, especially Palliative Care and the nurses on the eighth floor and White Cliffe Terrace for their caring and support. Resting at COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway 2, Courtice (905-432-8484) with Funeral Service in the Chapel on Thursday, April 25th at 1:00 p.m. The family of John will be receiving friends on Wednesday, April 24th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

BUDDEN, Edward L. -
Age 54 years. At Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Sunday April 21st, 2002. Beloved husband of Sally Hawthorne & father of Kevin. Loving son of Sophie & the late Lester Budden. Dear brother of Doris & Doug Crump, Pauline Mullins, Win & John Desmond, David & Sandra Budden. Dear uncle to Joanne & Tim Broad, Dana & Dale Collins & Sarah Budden. Survived by his great nieces Jessica, Amanda & Kara Broad. Visitation will take place at The Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville one hour prior to the service. Funeral Service will be held in our Chapel 1:30 pm Thursday. Cremation. Memorial donations may be made to The Cancer Society or Sick Children's Hospital.

At Northumberland Health Care Centre Cobourg on Sunday April 21, 2002. Walter Buttle in his 80th year. Predeceased by his first wife Fern Emmons (1980) and his second wife Irene Cooper (1996). Dear father of Ron Buttle and his wife Jackie and Don Buttle, Shirley Desjardins and her husband Nick, Judy Lawrence, Joe and Edward Glide. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Resting at The Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with Funeral Service in the Chapel on Wednesday April 24th at 11 A.M. Interment MOUNT LAWN cemetery. CUPANI, Arnoldo -
(General Motors Retiree). Peacefully passed away after a lengthy illness at Lakeridge Health-Whitby on Sunday, April 21st, 2002 at the age of 83. Arnold, always proud to be a Canadian citizen, was a long time resident of Oshawa. We will all miss his fiery opinions and excitement for discussion. passed away at Rouge Valley Health Center, Ajax on Sunday April 21st, 2002 in her 85th year. Dearly loved wife of Reverend Harry Folinsbee Newman. Much loved mother of Elizabeth (Sister Deborah) of Cape Cod, Margaret Marsh and her husband Roger of Waterloo, Patricia Newman and Martin Mauer of Toronto, Richard and his wife Priscilla of Pickering, Susan Zizys and her husband Tom of Toronto, and Josephine Newman of Pickering. Grandmother of Evangeline, David. Richard, Christopher, Lilli, Julia, Alden, Sarah and Anna. Great Grandmother of Emily and Timothy. Family will recieve friends at St. Thomas Anglican Church, (Winchester and St. Thomas Sts.) Brooklin from 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon with Funeral service to follow in the church Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock. Interment to follow at Salem cemetery. WEIR, Robert Oliver Manuel (Bob) -
On Sunday, April 21st, 2002 at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa in his 71st year. Beloved husband of Marilyn (nee Loveless). Dear father of Kim, Debra and Serge, Shawn and his wife Janice, Todd and his wife Kim, Lori and Stephan, and predeceased by son Terry. Loving grandfather of Matthew, Tyler, Shantel, Shelby, Amanda, Zachery and Ashlee. Lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the nurses at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa, I.C.U. and C.C.U. for their excellent care of Bob. Private Memorial Service to he held. Interment of Cremated Remains at Oshawa Union cemetery at a later date. Hannah Cuffley (nee Backus) beloved wife and best friend for 42 years to Peter of Sutton. Beloved mother of Anita McClelland and her husband Ian of Sutton and Janice Farmer and her husband Tim of Newmarket. Loving grandmother of Erin, Connor, Emily and Andrew. Dear sister of Mary Ayliffe and beloved aunt of Sharon and Alan. Rested at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 20846 Dalton Road, Sutton from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Tuesday. Of Brockville, formerly of Oshawa, at Brockville General Hospital, on Saturday, April 20, 2002. Daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Everitt. Dear Mother of Patrick, Robert, Terry and Susan. Sister of Joan. Predeceased by daughter Shirley and son Jim; brother Bill Everitt and sister Phyllis and Dorothy. At Dorothy's request there was no funeral. Cremation. ELLIOTT, S. Raymoud -
Peacefully passed away in his 77th year, after a long battle with cancer, on Saturday April 20, 2002. Beloved husband of Betty (nee Haskill) for 56 years. Dearly loved father of three daughters; Susan and husband George Alexandrou of Maryland, Catherine and husband Brent Weary of Carlisle and Beverley and husband Jim Robertson of Whitby. Devoted grandfather to Ryan Weary, Jennifer Robertson, Erin Weary, Deborah Robertson and Christine Robertson. Son of the late Rose and Charles Elliott. Survived by brother Keith and wife Adamae Elliott of Ennismore. Predeceased by brothers Lloyd and John and his wife Isabelle Elliott. MARIN, Marjorie Elaine -
passed away peacefully in her sleep at home, in Oshawa, on Saturday, April 20, 2002, in her 81st year. Marjorie (nee Gaylord), leaves a loving family; husband Earle Wilfred Marin, married 57 years, son Vance Gaylord Marin of Oshawa, daughter Valerie Meryl Marin of Nepean, grandson Gregory Vance Marin of Oshawa and sisters Joan Flintoff and Janet Smith. Also remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends. Resting at the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, Cataraqui Chapel (Counter St. @ Hwy 2) Kingston. Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service in the chapel on Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Cataraqui cemetery. McMINN, Margaret Davidson -
Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Saturday, April 20, 2002, in her 97th year. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland on February 17, 1905. Margaret beloved wife of the late Albert Edward McMinn. Loving mother of Marlene and her husband John Lamont. Proud grandmother to William, Richard and John. Great-grandmother of Chad, Dakota, Bethany and Brody. Mrs. McMinn will be resting at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby on Monday, April 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. A service in the chapel on Tuesday, April 23 at 2 p.m. Interment MOUNT LAWN cemetery.

WILLIAMS, Kenneth -
passed away suddenly, at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa with his family by his side on April 20th, 2002 in his 85th year. Dearly beloved husband of 60 years to Doreen (nee Stacey). Dear father to Sharon Walmsley, John and Fran Williams and Gail Appleby. Loved dearly by grandchildren Todd, Kent, Steven, Kimberly and Stacy. Will be missed by great-grandchildren Samantha, Grace, Elizabeth, David and Haley. Son of the late Paul and Lillian Williams and brother of Thomas Williams (predeceased), Harry and Anne Williams, Isabelle and George Fox, Joyce and Albert (predeceased) Porter, Beth (predeceased) and Maurice (predeceased) Kane, Esme and Sonny (Mike) Kornylo, Denny and Pauline Williams, and David and Nancy Williams . Ken had a long standing General Motors career of 37 1/2 years. Retired 28 years. Served in Canadian Armed Forces. Avid curler, golfer, and wood carver. Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, May 16, 1936, passed away at Lakeridge Health Centre, Bowmanville on Friday, April 19, 2002. Charles, son of James E. Carrigan (of Pictou, N.S.) and the late Constance Carrigan. Survived by brothers Bill and his wife Judy of Port Hope, Robert and his wife Muriel of Oshawa, Edward and his wife Isobel of Pictou N.S., George and his wife Terry of Calgary AB, Harold of Oshawa; sister Gloria of Whitby; and predeceased by sister Marie Fitzpatrick. Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Charles' life will be held on Wednesday April 24, 2002 at 2 pm in the chapel of the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax. Should family and friends so desire, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated.
