passed away at the Lakeview Manor in Beaverton on Monday, May 14, 2012 in his 91st year. Predeceased by his loving wife Louisa (Louie) Bookham. Cherished father of Rosemary Hamilton (Donnie) and Peter (Debbie). Proud grandpa of Linda, Katie, Andrew, Joel and great grandpa of Xander. He will be missed by his nephews Raymond, Barry, John, Guy and Marc and his nieces Pam, Cathy, Joan, Pam, Hilary, Mary, Becki as well as those in England. Dear brother of Iris (England) and predeceased by his other siblings Rose, Daisy, Lily, George, Fred and Willy. Bert came to Canada in 1948 where he worked on local farms, then for Bradbury’s Bakery, after that he worked for Uxbridge Beverages (Coca-Cola). A visitation was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main St. S. Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 11 – 1 p.m. A Funeral Service was held at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church (59 Toronto St. S. Uxbridge) on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 2 p.m. Interment Uxbridge cemetery. A reception followed. If desired, donations may be made to the St. Paul’s Anglican Church.
Hillis, Audrey Jeannette
passed away peacefully at Markham-Stouffville Hospital on Friday, May 11, 2012 in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late Edward (Eddie) Hillis. Loving mother to Dianne Williamson and Beverley Ronayne. Dear Nan to Doug and Jim Williamson and Jennifer and Sean Ronayne. Great-Nan to Maddox Williamson. Survived by sisters Jeanne Dickinson and Louise Davidson and brother James Hamilton. Predeceased by sister Isabel Gillson.
Family and friends were received at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main St. S., Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 for visitation on Monday, May 14, 2012 from 6-9p.m. Funeral service was held in the chapel on Tuesday, May 15th at 2p.m. with visitation for one hour prior. Interment to take place in Mount Albert cemetery. Mercier, Orean
passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Friday, May 11, 2012 at the age of 84. Beloved wife of Bud and loving mother of Charlotte (Terry) Hemington and Larry (Patty) Mercier. She was a devoted grandmother to Becky(Mike), Rob, Michelle(Matt), Jennie(Rob), Abby and Molly. She was a proud great- grandmother to Lucas, Emily, Jane, Dillon, Kinleigh and Harper and finally a caring sister to Ron (Jean) Ballinger of Niagara Falls
Orean (Rene) moved to Uxbridge in 1957 with her family and met all the challenges sudden country life threw at her. Throughout her life she excelled at whatever she put her mind to. She became interested in cake decorating and built a small home business creating elaborate birthday and wedding cakes. Her delicious chocolates will be missed by family, friends and neighbours. She had been an active participant in the community until her health began to fail. Most of all Rene enjoyed being surrounded by her family and being able to see her grandchildren and great- grandchildren brought a sparkle to her eyes. She was an amazing wife mother and friend. Rene will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank Dr. C. Doobay for his support and kindness as well as the palliative care nurses from St Elizabeth. In addition we would like to thank the many friends and neighbours who have been there to provide support during the difficult times. passed away at the Southlake Regional Health Centre with his family by his side on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the age of 70. Loving husband of Mary for 35 years. Devoted and caring father of Rob (Juliette), Tesha, Todd (Amanda), Ryan (Adrienne) and Jenny (Barry). Doting grandfather of Brianna, Alexia, Taylor, Jeremy, Brandon, Tyler and Avery. Older brother of Bill and his wife Bonnie and their family out west. As per Grant’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 170 (109 Franklin St. Uxbridge) on Sunday, May 13, 2012 from 2 – 5 p.m. If desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Marjorie was born in Chengtu, China on August 15, 1916. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Saturday, May 5, 2012 in her 95th year. Predeceased by her devoted husband Andrew Monteith (Monty) Fotheringham, her mother Mary Lavinia Beaton (nee: Borton), her father Rev. Kenneth James Beaton and her sisters Muriel Patterson and Mary Ruth Dakin. Survived by her son Scott Monteith Fotheringham, daughter Marsali (Mars) Jean Bryant (Nick), niece Penny Green, nephews David Patterson, John Andrew Fotheringham (Jo Ann), Douglas Patterson (Brie), grandchildren Robert James Bryant (Christie), Heather Lindsay Fotheringham (Devon), Melissa Mary Baker, Colin Scott Fotheringham, great grandchildren Darcy Andrew Bryant, Tyler James Bryant, Lilly-Anne Lavinia Davidson, Leah Jean Davidson, great nephews Conor Radey Green (Jenn Buffett), Owen Dakin Green, John Alexander Fotheringham, Andrew William Fotheringham and her brother-in-law David (Bill) Fotheringham.
Marjorie enjoyed a colourful and very full life. She was adored by her devoted husband, admired by her colleagues (CBC), esteemed by her life-long friends, loved by her family and worshiped by her animals. Irvine, Douglas James

Born with Spina Bifida, he won the battle but lost the war. Despite Doug’s disabilities he was always willing to volunteer in the Uxbridge community where he grew up and loved. Announcing Minor Hockey and figure skating, newspaper columns for the Times Journal, Tigers Eye, avid volunteer also in Oshawa. Doug earned the Ontario Junior Citizen Award in 1983. He also worked for the Toronto Metro Police Dept. Doug will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He passed away at Lakeview Manor on Wednesday, May 2, 2012. Herb and Linda, Kathy, Gunter and Jade, and Tammy, Danny and Matthew would like to thank Dr. McCordic and Doug’s Lakeview family for your kindness, compassion and for making his final journey peaceful, less painful and most of all with much love! Loving mother of Linda Pless, the late Tana Pelletier, John Eng, Lyan See, Allen Eng, Willkie Eng, Ross Eng, Harry C. Eng, Teddy Eng, George Eng, Henry Eng, the late Jackie Eng, Joan DeVries, Gene Eng, Gordon Eng, Judy Barth, Frances Lambert and the late Thane Eng. Proud grandma of 37 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Joan was an amazing mother who gave us all fond memories. After a brave and hard fought battle with cancer, Sherri slipped away Friday, April 27, 2012, ten days after turning 45. Adored, beloved wife and soul mate of John H. Foote, much loved mother, best friend and playmate of Aurora Anne, and Ariana Elizabeth. Loved daughter to Ellie Todd (nee Beer) and Swifty Todd (deceased) of Goodwood, little sister to Holly Williamson (Bruce) of Aurora, and Juliette Harrison (Tom, deceased) of Leaskdale. Sherri was pre-deceased by her grandparents, Elizabeth “Gig” and George Todd of Goodwood, and Charlotte Beer of Uxbridge, and Donald A. Beer of Brougham. Sherri was loved by her in laws Skip and Dianne Foote of Havelock, and thought of as a sister by Joanne Harper (Gord), Sunderland, Steve (Chris Rollo), Port Hope, and Jeff (Allison), Newmarket. She was the ultra cool aunt to Lauren and Amy Williamson, Gord and Katie Harrison, Rick Rahm, Jordan and Janelle Foote, and Sarah and Sean Harper. Her aunts, uncles and cousins loved Sherri's warmth and good humour with fond memories of her smile carried with them forever. Employed for eighteen years at Emerson Electric as a Human Resources Manager, and five years at Medical Associates of Port Perry, Sherri loved working with people and her infectious smile and warm heart made her popular wherever she was. She was active in the community as an actress, in the world of dance, and as a mother raising two daughters. She so touched us all. Family and friends will miss her very much.
