Martin, Michael Joesph

Entered into rest on Tuesday, April 26th, 2011. Michael Joseph Martin born January 14, 1952 in Amherst, Nova Scotia. Predeceased by his daughter baby girl, his father Joseph, Edgar Martin from New Brunswick, his brother Geoffery and his mother Barbara Martin Morise, also born in Amherst, Nova Scotia. Survived by his wife Sharon and children Katherine (Gray), Michael Jr., Christopher (Courtney), Lindsey (Chad) and grandson Carsyn. He is also survived by his brothers; George, Glen, Sheldon, Ryan and his sisters Rosslyn, Mavis, Colleen, Vaunda and Angela. A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, May 4th, 2011 and he will be laid to rest at Goodwood cemetery

Huntley, Alfred W.

It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of Alfred W. Huntley on Saturday, April 30, 2011. Following his brief battle with cancer at the young age of 55 years, with family by his side Alfred was taken to be with God. He is survived by his loving wife MaryAnne (Surette) Huntley. He was a loving Father to Melissa, Lindsay and Corrine (James). Survived by his parents Ken and Mary Huntley, brothers and sisters Laura (Rick), Jennifer (Rod), Bruce (Jan), Sharron (Blair) and Michael and several nieces and nephews. Alf owned and operated Heritage Restoration Inc. for many years along with his brother and partner Bruce. Friends may call at Low & Low Funeral Home 23 Main St. South, Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Wednesday May 4, 2011 from 3:00 – 5:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Thursday May 5, 2011 at 12:00 noon followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers a donation to the National Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation at pancreaticcancercanada.ca/donation.php.

Maschke, Joshua Douglas

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our ``Josh.`` Cherished son of Doug and Elizabeth. Loving brother of Randy (Amanda) and Ryan (Courtney). Dear great grandson of Dorothy Ellis. Predeceased by grandparents Charles and Colleen Maschke and Herb and Kathleen Hatch. He will be greatly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A visitation took place at the Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach St. Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Sunday, May 1, 2011 from 6 –9 p.m. A Funeral Service was held on Monday, May 2, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Greenbank United Church (19991 Hwy 12 Greenbank) with reception following. Private family graveside service was held. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Port Perry Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Smith, James Melbourne

In his 86th year, passed away peacefully at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Reta Berniece Smith. Loving father of Marilyn, Donna and James. Fondly remembered by his granddaughter Jenna Smith. Survived by his sisters Eileen Gould and Florence Wilkinson and his brothers Morley Smith and Grant Smith (Dorothy). After 21 years of farming in Sandford with his late wife Berniece Smith, Melbourne worked at Dominion Auto in Uxbridge. Private family internment service was held at Sandford cemetery. A reception will be held at Trinity United Church (20 First Avenue, Uxbridge) on Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. In Melbourne's memory donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Celar, Anthony (Tony)

passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the age of 54. Cherished husband of Crystal. Beloved father of Leanne, Michael, and Matthew. Proud grampy of Brooklyn. Brother of John, Danny and Mia. Much loved son-in-law of Kathleen and Gerald Hendricks. Brother-in-law of Steve and Gina Wild. Will be missed by many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Special thank you to the Toronto General Hospital Lung Transplant Team.
A visitation was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach St. Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Friday, April 29, 2011 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. A Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11 a.m. If desired, donations may be made to the Trillium Gift of Life Network.

Hammond, Albert George (Junior)

passed away suddenly on April 25, 2011 at the Lakeridge Hospital in Port Perry, Ontario, in the presence of his loved ones Albert (Junior) Hammond, age 53 years. Junior grew up in Portugal Cove, but spent much of his life living in Ontario. He is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Madeline Hammond, and sister Darlene. He is survived by his partner, Anne Reid, his children Shane, Natasha, Dawn and Melissa, and Anne’s children Jason and Jamie. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda (Bill) Rose and Charlotte (Bud) Butler, Portugal Cove; and brother Patrick (Carolyn) Hammond, Goulds, and his aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews and friends. Rested at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach St. Port Perry, Ontario on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm followed by a memorial service in the Chapel.

Dickson, Joyce

Loving wife and best friend of Lorne Maich, passed suddenly on April 19, 2011, at Uxbridge, at the age of 69. Beloved mother of Greg Hancock, Tina Brandon and Melissa Hancock, mother-in-law of Tom Brandon and Kelly Hancock (Fleming), and grandmother of Phoebe, Piers, Jackson and Nicolas. Loved sister of Ken Dickson and sister-in-law Joan Dickson. Pre-deceased by sister Lillian Radke (Dickson). In keeping with her wishes, no funeral will be held. Best wishes may be left on the Low and Low website. “I love you, not only for who you are, but for who I am when I am with you.”

Taylor-Geddes, Jessica Jill

passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at the age of 18. Cherished daughter of Greg Taylor and Brandi Geddes, sister of Nicholas Taylor. Much loved granddaughter of Pat and Jim Geddes and Jill and Charles Taylor. J.J. will be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. A Celebration of J.J.’s Life was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main St. South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 2 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sick Kids Hospital-Cardiac Unit, the Jennifer Ashleigh Foundation or the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Foundation.

Smillie, Audrey

Peacefully after a brief illness on Monday, April 18, 2011 at the age of 89 at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket. Audrey was predeceased by her husband Don, and her son David. She was the loving mother of Bryan and his wife Shannon of Uxbridge. Audrey and Don resided in Thornhill for over 50 years where they were devoted members of Thornhill United Church. They moved to Uxbridge 7 years ago and became active residents of Shobrook Gardens Retirement Residence. In the past few years Audrey was a faithful member of Goodwood Baptist Church. Friends and family were invited to attend a Funeral Service at the Uxbridge Baptist Church (231 Brock St. W. Uxbridge) on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with visiting from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A reception followed. Burial to take place at Thornhill cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Low and Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge (905) 852-3073.

Hughes, Clifford

passed away in Uxbridge on Sunday, April 17, 2011 in his 79th year. Loving husband of Barbara for 56 years. Cherished father of Trevor (Lisa), Jennifer (Rob), Ian (Marie) and Yvonne (Dave). Proud grand dad of Andrew, Chris, Nicholas, Jeffrey and Miranda. Brother of Gwenda, Anita and Olga. A Funeral Service was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main St. S. Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 2 p.m. with visiting from 12 – 2 p.m. A reception followed at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 170 (109 Franklin St. Uxbridge). In Cliff’s memory, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 170 – Poppy Fund.

Lynde, Stanley

passed away on Friday, April 15, 2011 at the ReachView Village Nursing Home in Uxbridge at the age of 96. Predeceased by Amy, his brothers Clifford, Ralph, Charlie, and Dryden, and his sisters Dorothy, Joe and Gert. Survived by his sisters Mary and Alma. Stan will be missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Special thank you to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital, Providence Health Care, ReachView Village Nursing Home, and his close neighbors Bud, Wilma, Babs, Myron and Janice. Uncle Stan Thanks everybody. Penny, Margaret Francess (Nee: Somerville)

passed away peacefully at Reachview Village in Uxbridge on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Penny. Dear mother of Jim (Dawn) Penny and Christina (Doug) Allen. Devoted grandmother of Stephanie, Krista, Trever, Marnie (Duane) Lehr, Colleen (Ross) Stevens, Heather (Mike) Waldock and Great Grandmother of Bradley, Christopher, Nadine, Matthew, Lexie, Katrina and Olivia. Survived by her brother Russ (Lois) Somerville and predeceased by her sister Laura (Ted) Kent. Survived by her sisters-in-law Jean Malloy and Greta Walton. A visitation was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation one-hour prior. Interment Foster Memorial cemetery. In Memory of Francess donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
