Nowicki, Hieronim

passed away on Friday, April 8, 2011 at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital in his 89th year. Beloved husband of 64 years to Karolina. Loving father of Richard and his wife Gina. Dear grandpa (dziadzia) of Melissa, Simon & Michael. Dear great grandpa (pradziadzia) of Tyler. Loved by his nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. We will all miss you. A visitation was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Monday, April 11, 2011 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass was held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church (70 Toronto Street North Uxbridge) on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 12:00 noon. Interment followed at Sacred Heart cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to
Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation or Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Foundation. Special thanks to Dr. T.S. Cheang, Dr. A. Boudakian, ands staff at Markham Stouffville Hospital & Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.

Barkey, Charles Frank

Barkey, Charles, ‘Frank’ – At Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Thursday, April 7, 2011, after a courageous battle with t-cell lymphoma cancer at 74 years of age. Beloved husband and friend of Donna (nee Johnson) for 46 years. Dearest father of Sharyn and her husband Tim Sargent, Elaine and her husband Mark Cole, Glenn and his wife Karen Barkey, Eric and his wife Christine Barkey, Carolyn and her husband Frazer Puterbough, Kathryn and her husband Clair Doan. Loving grandfather of Stephynie, Bruce, Daniel, Melyssa, Benjamin Sargent, Matthew and Ryan Cole, Cameron, Grant, Ian, Reid Barkey, Jacob, Evan, Julia Barkey, Cooper and Callum Puterbough and Carmyn Doan. Son of the late Charles and Bessie (Mowder) Barkey, brother of Walter (late Laima), predeceased by Cliff (Mary), Barb (Art Adams), Wilmot. Brother in law of Rae (Betty) Johnson and Carol (late Lloyd) Johnson, loving uncle and great uncle to many. A leader in the Holstein industry, founder of Altona Lea Farms, mentor to many in the dairy industry and in 4-H, gardener and rose grower extraordinaire. Will be missed as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Family and friends were received at Low & Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach St., Port Perry 905-985-7331 on Sunday April 10, 2011 from 1-4pm and 7-9pm. A celebration of life was held in the chapel for Frank on Monday April 11, 2011 at 1pm. Donations to the Ontario Dairy Youth Trust Fund, Durham East 4-H or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Aquin, June Olive

passed away peacefully in her 85th year, surrounded by her family at Lakeridge Health Port Perry on April 3rd, 2011. Survived by her loving husband Cecil Alfred Aquin, her brother Jim and Lynn Chaplin and her children Paul Aquin and Debbie Aquin, Pauline Robertson and James Robertson and Jim Aquin and Gillian Lock. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Shannon, Danny, Travis, Kyle, Katherine, Justin, Jesse, Cassy and Garrett. A family memorial service will take place at a later date. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Low and Low Funeral Home, Port Perry, (905) 985-7331. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Rattray, Marion Patricia

passed away at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the age of 84. Wife of the late Robert Rattray (2002) and the late Harold Black (2010). Loving mother of Robert (Brenda), Ken (Jo-Anne), Stephen (Julie) and Brian (Kelli). Loving grandmother to Ryan (Karen), Michael (Lael), Amie (Ben), Kyle (Katie), Curtis, Brianna, Alexandra, Lauren and Stephanie. Caring great grandmother to Hadley and Eloise. Remembered by her siblings Lawerence Westaway and Bud (Sandy) Westaway. Pat operated the Uxbridge Nursery School for 24 years. She was an active member of the Uxbridge community for 60 years. She treasured her many special friends. Pat was one of the original members of Spring Breeze, a member of IODE, Hypatia Club,Trinity United Church, and volunteered at Chances Are. She loved her summers at the cottage with family and her many winters in Florida.
The family would like to thank the nurses at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital and Dr. Brian St. John, for their care and compassion. We would also like to thank Reverend Dr. Bill Fritz of Trinity United Church for his many visits with mom. A Memorial Service was held at Shobrook Gardens (1 Elgin Park Dr. Uxbridge) on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. In Pat’s memory, donations may be made to the IODE (Uxbridge Chapter).

Fawcett, William Francis

On Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Markham Stouffville Hospital at the age of 83. Survived by his beloved wife of 62 years N. Jean (Hayward) and his children Susan (Jay Young), Larry (Brenda Fawcett), and Donna (Rob Kennedy). Already missed by his seven grandchildren Jason & Jennifer Young, Heather & Laura Fawcett, Kristina, Robbie & Will Kennedy and one great grandson Rowan Kennedy. Retired for 27 years after 38 years of service at Imperial Oil Ltd. At William’s request there will be no Funeral Service. Cremation has taken place. Friends and family were invited to a Memorial Reception to Celebrate William’s Life on Sunday, April 3, 2011 from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main St. S. Uxbridge (905) 852-3073. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Moore, George Edward (Geordi)

passed away peacefully at Parkview Home in Stouffville on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in his 96th year. Survived by his wife, Alice, his children Nancy (Jim), Larry (Sue) and Brian (Brenda), his 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchilden and 1 great-great-granchild. Predeceased by his daughter Donna and her husband Larry, as well as his grandson Mark. A Visitation was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main St. S. Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 2:30p.m. In Geordi’s memory donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Jones,Thelma Marion
Nee: Prince
February 16, 1927 - March 20, 2011

passed away suddenly at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on March 20, 2011 at the age of 84. Loving and devoted wife of 65 years to William Jones. Mother to Shirley de Koning, mother-in-law to Scott Shouldice, gramma to Kelly Evans (nee: de Koning) and Ian de Koning. Great gramma to Daniel, David and Samantha, sister-in-law to Marllee Reeder. So sadly missed with empty hearts you were a true inspiration to all with your strength, your courage and positive outlook. We will cherish forever our fondest memories of your laughter and good times. A Memorial Service was held at the Uxbridge Baptist Church (231 Brock St. W. Uxbridge) on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 1 p.m. with visiting from 12-1 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Foundation or the Uxbridge Baptist Church.

Delaney, Karen

passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at St. Michael`s Hospital in Toronto at the age of 51. Karen dearly beloved wife and best friend of Rick Delaney of Port Perry. Loving mother of Daniel, Emma and predeceased by Alan. Dear daughter of Joyce Miller and predeceased by her father Alan Miller, sister to Susan Jobson and aunt to Lewis Jobson all of England. Karen will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. Family and friends were received at the Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach St., Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Sunday, March 27, 2011 from 12 to 2 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Karen was held in the chapel on Sunday March 27, 2011 at 2 p.m. Memorial donations to the SickKids Foundation would be appreciated.

Spang, Mildred Mary (Gillman)

Peacefully at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Monday, March 21, 2011 in her 85th year. Wife of the late Harry Spang, Mildred was born and raised in Brougham, ON. She worked for the Pickering Twp. Municipal Office for several years but will be remembered by many friends for the 32 years she was employed by the CIBC in Claremont. She enjoyed the last 17 years of her life in Uxbridge. Mildred will be sadly missed by her daughter, Marg (Hugh Clark), grandchildren Janet Smith (Stephen) and Brad Clark (Marcie). The joys of her life were her great-grandchildren Ryan and Brendan Smith and Isabel and Adeline Clark. The family would like to thank Butternut Manor, Uxbridge and the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital for their great care and kindness shown to Mum in her last months and days. At Mildred’s request, there will be no funeral. If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Ontario or the Ontario Humane Society of Ontario in her memory. Farris, Donald L.

passed away suddenly but peacefully at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital with his daughters by his side on Thursday, March 17, 2011 “St. Patrick’s Day” at the age of 78. Loving father of Debra (Tom), Donna (Ron) and Darren. Predeceased by his loving wife May and his sister Pauline Fountain (Don). The family wishes to thank the staff at the ReachView Village Nursing Home and Uxbridge Cottage Hospital for their compassionate care.
A Memorial Service was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 1 p.m. with visiting from 12 – 1 p.m. A reception followed the service at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 170 (109 Franklin St. Uxbridge) In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 170 would be appreciated.

Giffin, Monika Elisabeth

It is with great sadness that after a lengthly illness our dear Monika has entered into rest peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, March 11, 2011 at Markham Stouffville Hospital. Monika, beloved wife of Stewart. Dear mother to Michael and his wife Gin, Kirk and his fiancé Jill, and Erik. Grandmother to Martin Stewart. Fondly remembered by her cousin Doris, brother-in-law Gord, sister-in-law Joan, brother-in-law Ian, sister-in-law Maisie, niece Kim and husband Christian, niece Lisa and husband Andrew, nephew Chris and fiance Jody, and cousin Silvia and husband Alberto who traveled from Italy.
Rested at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073, visitation on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. Cremation followed. In Monika’s memory donations may be made to the Arthritis Society or to the Markham Stouffville Hospital.
