Bagshaw, Morley Harrison

On Wednesday, April 21, 2010. Peacefully, at ReachView Nursing Home, Uxbridge, at the wonderful age of 92 years. Beloved husband of Doreen, who passed away only six days prior. Joined in life together for 71 years and now, together again. Loved Dad of Judy Wagg, Don (Linda), and John (Cathi). Proud Grandfather of Bill (Lennie), Kent (Sheryl), Jim (Elnia), Kim (Martin), Amy (Jason), Meredith, Becki (Mike) and 9 great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by sisters Doris Snoddon, Audrey Smith, and predeceased by Lorna Bridger. A kind and loving gentle man, Morley knew the meaning of being a good neighbor. He loved his family deeply and always enjoyed hearing about their lives and adventures. Morley was an integral part of Udora as he ran his farm for 27 years, and drove many children on the school bus. Moving to Uxbridge in 1972, he skated on Uxbridge pond until his 80’s, was an avid Blue Jays fan and also enjoyed curling. He liked to listen to music and play euchre and crib with all his “senior” friends. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #170 and served for several years on the Uxbridge Fair Board including a term as President. The family wishes to extend many thanks to the staff at Reachview Nursing Home.
A Memorial Service was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905) 852 – 3073 on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 10:00 a.m.

Simpson, Dorothy

Wife of the late Arthur Simpson; there was a visitation at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852 – 3073 on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Installation of ashes in Uxbridge cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson Society of Canada would be appreciated.

Tutty, Richard Albert

Peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital, in his 62 year. Lovingly remembered by his daughter Elaine (Mike) Haulak and his grandchildren Mathew and Paige. Fondly remembered by his nephews, Keith (Melissa) Lotton and Dave (Sue) Lotton and his great – nieces and great – nephews Rachel, Mackenzie, Cooper and Tyson. He will be sadly missed by his many friends. A Memorial Service was held in the chapel at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main St. S. Uxbridge, on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. In Richard’s memory, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Foundation.

Shortt, Russell George “Rusty”

Surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital at age 61. Rusty, beloved son to Frank and the late Ruth Shortt. Loving dad to Krista (Wayne), Nicole and step daughter Tracy. Grandpa to Lucas, Talya, Ryan and Colton. Predeceased by his brother Robert. Will be sadly missed by his good friend Carol.
A Service to celebrate Rusty’s life was held in the chapel on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905) 852-3073. Visitation 1 hour before. Interment Greenbank cemetery. A reception followed back at the Funeral Home. In Rusty’s memory, donations may be made to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Bagshaw, Doreen (nee: Melville)

On Thursday, April 15, 2010. Peacefully, in her sleep at ReachView Nursing Home, Uxbridge at the wonderful age of 92 years. Beloved Wife of Morley for 71 years. Loved Mom of Judy, Don (Linda), and John (Cathi). Proud Grandmother of Bill (Lennie), Kent (Sheryl), Jim (Elina), Kim (Martin), Amy (Jason), Meredith, Becki (Mike) and nine Great Grandchildren. Predeceased by brother Edward and sister Dorothy. Doreen’s immediate and extended family always came first; she is now at peace. A courageous lady, Doreen was an integral part of her communities in Udora and Uxbridge Churches as a superintendant of the Sunday School, President of the U.C.W.A., volunteer for the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Auxiliary and President of fundraising for the Uxbridge Cancer Society. The family wishes to extend many thanks to the staff of ReachView Nursing Home.
A Memorial Service was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. with visitation at 3:00 p.m.In lieu of flowers, Doreen would appreciate donations to the ReachView Alive Fund (Revera Long Term Care Inc.), the Canadian Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.

Yake, Marlene Shirley

passed away peacefully at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on April 13, 2010 in her 75th year. Beloved wife to Earl of 52 years. Loving mother to Richard (Brenda), Heather and Gary (Kathie). Fondly remembered by her grandchildren David and Julie. Predeceased by her parents Harold and Reta Gordon, brothers Ross and Harry and survived by their wives Hilda and Marlene, Jack (Dianne) and sisters Joan (Elmer) Lee and Faye (Jim) Gourlie. Resting at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service to be held in the chapel on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with visiting 1 hour prior. McTavish, Donald James "Dunc"

passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. On Monday, April 12, 2010 at the Markham Stouffville Hospital. Loving father to Craig and Dale. Long time companion to Susan Webb. Survived by his sisters and brothers Janet (Floyd) Morton, Heather - deceased (Fred Topp and Sharon), Donna (Larry) Barton, Sandy (Sally), David (Elizabeth Gumiran), Laurie (Ron) Stevenson, Rob (Debbie) and Sue. Fondly remembered by “precious” Shauna and Jennifer, Sara and Jeff Ozolins. Parents-in-law Peggy and Keith Webb, sisters-in-laws Patty Green (Paul) and Joan Vanderwal (Ron), and brother-in-laws John Webb (Ewa), Jim Webb and Peter Webb (Judi). Resting at Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main St. S. Bunnik, Johan "John"

passed away peacefully, after a brief illness at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Sunday, April 11, 2010 in his 89th year. Beloved husband to Mary for a wonderful 55 years. John was born on April 17, 1921. Beloved father to Peter (Wilma) Bunnik of Pefferlaw, Helen (David) Shaw of Sarnia, Joanne Bennett of Calgary, Alberta, and Yvonne (Hubert) van der Heyden of Uxbridge. Loving grandfather to Victoria and Claire Bunnik, Melissa, Emily and Heather Shaw: Ryan and Jenni Bennett; Chris, Mike and Marina van der Heyden. Predeceased by his parents Pieter and Johanna Bunnik (van Velzen). John was one of eleven siblings, his brothers; Joe (deceased), Piet (deceased), Jan (deceased), Adriaan (Riet) and Lies (deceased), and Annie. His sister-in-law Lenie Beining. Loved but not forgotten, by Wally the parrot. As per John's wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church (70 Toronto Street, Uxbridge) on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Low and Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge (905) 852-3073.

Sheriff, James

passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa on Friday, April 9, 2010 in his 89th year. Jim Sheriff dearly beloved husband of Peggy Sheriff. Loving father of Jimmy and his wife Diane Sheriff and predeceased by Marlene Thornton and survived by son-in-law Malcolm Thornton. Dear grandfather of Linda (Paul), Malcolm (Joanna), Karen, Gwen and Jenny (Ross). Loving and adored great papa of Anthony, Peter, Jordyn, Vanessa, Melissa, Allison, Ethan, Kara-Ann and Jackson. Family and friends called at the Low & Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry on Monday, April 12, 2010 from noon until 1 p.m.
A complete funeral service was held in the chapel on Monday at 1 p.m. Cremation. Memorial donations to the War Amps would be appreciated.

Mallon, Connie

passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital, with her family by her side. The Funeral Service was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home on Sunday, April 11, 2010 and was a beautiful tribute. She will be dearly missed by her husband Al Mollison and her daughter Candelle Mallon, her mom Charlotte Silman, her sisters: Chris Fisher and Marie Duke and her brother Ernie Silman. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to everyone at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. Memorial Donations can be made in her name to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Foundation.

Costain, Marjorie Anne (nee: McIntosh)
August 14, 1922 - April 5, 2010

Marjorie passed away in her 88th year with her family by her side. Predeceased by her husband of 59 years, “Cleave” and her beloved son-in-law Dale Keslering. Marjorie will be missed by her two brothers George McIntosh of Toronto, Ontario and Bruce McIntosh of Calgary, Alberta and by her daughters and their families; Terry and Joe Duffy of Scottsdale, Arizona, Barbara Keslering of Oshawa, Ontario, Marla and John Fryers of Toronto, Ontario. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Kimberly, Sheryl, Richard, Jenilee, Michael and Breeanne.
Marjorie graduated from the Toronto General Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. She enjoyed a long career in nursing, sharing her compassion, warmth and dry sense of humor with the many lives she touched.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to the Carriage House staff and the Doctors and Nurses in the Emergency Department and Unit 3F of Lakeridge Health, Oshawa. A special thanks to Doctors Kennedy, Weir, Mazlowski and Devost who provided excellent compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Floor 3F Medicine and Nephrology, Oshawa Hospital Foundation, The Gatehouse, 290 Simcoe Street North, Oshawa, Ontario L1G 4T5. The family will remember Marj’s life in a private celebration.

passed away on Monday, April 5, 2010 in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Martin Bichler. Loving mother of Monika Elisabeth Giffin (Stewart). Loving grandmother to Michael and his wife Gin and her great – grandson Martin Stewart, Kirk and his fiancée Jill and Erik. Always remembered by her nieces Doris, Sylvia and Sonya and sister Herta and all of the family in Europe.Funeral Service was held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 70 Toronto Street, North. Uxbridge, On, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2010 with reception to follow at the church. Interment Uxbridge cemetery. In Lotte’s memory, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Catherwood, Ralph Simpson "Pete"

passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at the Markham Stouffville Hospital in his 77th year. Pete, beloved husband of Betty. Loving father to Dale (Pat), Greg (Bev) and Suzann (Patrick). Fondly remembered by his five grandsons Alex, Nick, Dan, Brett, Michael and stepson Wayne Webster and family. Survived by his sisters Chris Johnson, Marj Brethour and Rose Beach. Predeceased by his brother Bruce “Dub” and sister Cora Nolan. Resting at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Friday, April 9, 2010 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m with visiting 1 hour prior. Interment Uxbridge cemetery. In Pete’s memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
