Doug died suddenly on December 15, 2009, in Port Perry at the age of 86. He married Beryl (née Hohs) in 1949, and together they raised their family in the house Doug built on Riverside Drive in Oakville. Beryl and Doug spent their final decade together in Port Perry, and Beryl died in January 2009. Doug was a veteran of the Second World War (Royal Canadian Navy), engineer, founder of Forster Instruments Ltd., golfer and woodworker extraordinaire. He loved a good joke and a job well done. Doug is survived by his sister Kathryn Seary (Terry and family), children (Marilyn in Acton, Barb (Brian) in Pembroke, Ian (Liz) in Coboconk, Liz (Stephen) in Whitby and Amy (Michel) in Ottawa) and grandchildren (Alex, Matthew and Sara; Jennifer and Billy; Becky and Emily; and Andrew and Patrick). Family and friends may call at the Low and Low Funeral Home (23 Main Street South, Uxbridge) from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, December 19, 2009. The service, to be followed by a reception, will begin at noon at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Dr. Merilee Brown and the staff of the Port Perry hospital. It is with heart filled sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sharon Lawrence (nee Cummings) on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Sharon passed away peacefully at her home in her 66th year.
