Arnold, Clarkson Burnham

Peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2008 at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. Loving husband of Ina (Walker) for 58 years. Beloved father of Glenn (Suzanne), Neil (Mary), Denyse (Bruce Newton), Brenda (Dominic Delic). Devoted grandfather to Jeff, Alex, Kate, Chas, Stephen, Brian, Jacqueline, Michael and great grandfather to Lily. Family and friends called at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Sunday, April 13, 2008 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service was held at the Zephyr United Church on Monday, April 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation 1 hour prior. Interment at Zephyr Zion cemetery. In Clarkson’s memory donations may be made to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Foundation or the Durham Down Syndrome Association.

Buffan, Wayne

Peacefully on April 6, 2008 with his wife by his side Wayne Buffan lost his battle with cancer at the young age of 54. His strength, courage and love will be survived by his beautiful wife Sheila and his loving kids Wayne, Brent, Shane, Carlie, Adam and Charlene. For all he knew, inspired, loved, and laughed with, his wishes are that his life be celebrated and not mourned. The family would like to extend his wishes and invite everyone knew him and knows his family to his Celebration of Life Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Leaskdale Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. A trust fund in his honour will be set up at the TD Bank in Uxbridge, Ontario (905) 852-3324 for any donations. The family would like to thank the medical staff at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital especially Dr. Chen as well as Dr. Batten for letting Wayne enjoy every day to the fullest exactly the way his life was lived. On April 6, 2008 we lost the greatest husband, father, and friend that this life could give us, and for that he will be celebrated. ALWAYS.

Andrews, Marie Gladys (nee Mills)

A long time resident of Uxbridge passed away peacefully at Markhaven Home for Seniors, Sunday, April 6, 2008 after a lengthy illness in her 84th year. Marie Andrews, wife of the late Lorne F. Andrews, loving mother of son Roger and wife Sandra of Oshawa and daughter Laurel and husband Jon Matheson of Oakville. Loving grandmother to Heather, Allison, Stuart, Diana and Kathryn, step grandmother to Trevor, Petit Jean and Lorraine and great grandmother to Cadence. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 17th at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #170, 109 Franklin St., Uxbridge, Ontario at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Durham or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Schreiber, Gary

Suddenly on April 6th 2008. Gary, loving husband of Yvonne, dear father of Sarena (Andrew Teakles), and Christopher. Predeceased by his sister Alice Bast, and his brother Ralph Sutton. Family and friends were received on Friday April 11th 2008, from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 P.M. at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073. Mass of Christian Burial was Celebrated on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church (70 Toronto Street Uxbridge). Cremation to follow. If so desired, memorial donations in Gary’s memory may be made to your Charity of choice.

Robinson, Verlyn (Vickie) Josephine

Peacefully, at her home in Uxbridge on Sunday, April 6, 2008. In her 80th year. Vickie, beloved wife of the late Lloyd Robinson. Loving mother to Paul, Bill, Jim, John (deceased) and Michael (deceased). Wonderful grandmother to Michael John. Predeceased by brother Wilfred, and sister Willow; survived by sister Marion and brother Marlyn. She will be sadly missed by all. Rested at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Interment Uxbridge cemetery. In Vickie’s memory donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Harrison, Lloyd

Peacefully on Saturday, April 5th, 2008 at Markham Stouffville Hospital. In his 88th year. Lloyd, has gone to be with his beloved wife Jean. Dear father of Ralph (Tami), Glenn (Deborah), and Anna (Kevin). Loving Grandfather to Crystal (Brian), Scott, Jeff, Blake, Klarke, Ashley and Derek. Great grandfather to Caden. Survived by his brother Gordon and Sister Verna, predeceased by his sister Bernice Smith. Rested at Low and Low Funeral Home Uxbridge, 23 Main St. South (905)-852-3073 on Tuesday April 8th, 2008 from 1-4 and 7-9. Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Interment Foster Memorial cemetery. In Lloyd's memory donations may be made to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.

Kirk, Doreen May (Nee Cunningham)

Peacefully on Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 at the Markham Stouffville Hospital. In her 83rd year. Loving mother of Cheryl (Rickie), Rick (Karen), Randy (Janis), Ron (Darlene) and Susan (Bob). Fondly remembered by her grandchildren, great grandchildren who she loved the most. A service to celebrate Doreen's life was be held on Saturday April 12th, 2008 at the Low and Low Funeral Home Uxbridge, 23 main St. South. (905) 852-3073 in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Visiting will be held one hour before. In Doreen's memory donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Moch, Irma

Passed peacefully from life at the Community Nursing Home of Port Perry on March 28, 2008. The loving mother of Edwin and Ria Moch of Australia, Fred and Barbara Moch of Seagrave and Yvonne and Bill Wiseman of Orangeville. Greatly missed by grandchildren James, Thomas, Edward, Jason and Leila and her little loves in great grandchildren Kieran, Ashley, Alexander and Leisha. She will be missed by the loving and caring staff of the Nursing Home that became her good friends over the years. She was predeceased by husband Arnold. Services will be held at Low and Low Funeral Home on Reach Street in Port Perry on Friday April 11, 2008 at 7 p.m. with all those who cared about her.

Paradine, Pearl (nee: Miller)

Pearl Paradine of Uxbridge passed away at Markham Stouffville Hospital on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 in her 90th year. She will be remembered by all her family and friends. A devoted and loving mother to Bill, Keith (Gloria), Ken (Muriel), Jim (Laurie) and Cheryl (Barry). Grandmother to Greg, Tracy, Brenda, Cindy, Chris, Stacey, Colin, and Angela. Great Grandmother to Shannon, Tyson, Josh, and Reese. A Memorial Service will be held at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place interment of cremated remains at Uxbridge cemetery. In Pearl’s memory donations made to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital or Uxbridge Community Care would be appreciated.

Kerrigan, Sydney Alexandra

Sydney Alexandra Kerrigan of Uxbridge passed away at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Tuesday March 25, 2008 at the age of only 9 years old. Sydney, with all of her special challenges in life, was a source of so much love, happiness and inspiration to everyone close to her. Sydney’s love, hugs and smiles will be sorely missed by her adoring parents, Sid and Dawn Kerrigan, her loving sisters Hailey and Paige, grandparents Sid and Beverley Kerrigan and Ralph and Carol Butcher, aunts, uncles, cousins, teachers and best friends – her grade 4 classmates at St. Joseph Catholic School. A visitation was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Friday March 28, 2008 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm, a mass was held Saturday March 29, 2008 at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Parish, 70 Toronto Street North, Uxbridge. Cremation will take place in a private family ceremony at a later date. In Sydney’s memory, in lieu of flowers, and in appreciation for all of the special care and compassion Sydney received while at school, please send donations to St. Joseph Catholic School, 25 Quaker Village Drive, Box 1570, Uxbridge, L9P 1N7.

Warner, Alice Mary (nee: White)

Formerly of Niagara Falls, died peacefully at the age of 85 on March 19, 2008 at Versa Care Uxbridge where she lived for the past seven years. Survived by her son John Warner and his wife Suzanne of Utica, her daughter Cheryl and her husband Dr. David Wiebe of Newmarket, 6 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. Visitation was held on Saturday, March 22, 2008 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073. Interment Service for family and friends in the Niagara area was held at the Warner cemetery , Warner Road & QEW in Niagara at 3:30 p.m. Charitable donations may be made in her memory to the Warner cemetery through Low and Low Funeral Home or c/o Sandra Gregovski (8 Regent Drive, St. Catharines ON L2M 3L5).

McGurk, John Eamon

With profound sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of their beloved father John in Toronto, on March 12th. John was surrounded by family, daughter Kelly (Chuck), sons John (Suzanne) and Derek (Cate), sisters Mary and Kay and brothers Steve and Terry who will mourn the loss of a wonderful father and brother. John was born and raised in Toronto to parents Richard and Bridget on November 9, 1938. In 1962 he married his wife, Estelle (nee Beamish), who predeceased him in 2005. John’s eight grandchildren, (Ryan, Brett, Kaitlin, Hailey, Josh, Lynda, Ava and Nash) will miss his presence at family dinners, his generosity, humour, and his unfailingly good advice. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1956 and was a proud veteran. A dedicated firefighter for 31 years, John served with the former East York Fire Department, retiring in 1993 with a record of excellent service and a history of legendary practical jokes. John will be remembered for his exuberance and warmth. He was an excellent story teller and listener, who loved laughter and did much good. John was a consummate Irishman and a proud Canadian. John was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed working at various times for the Toronto Argonauts, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Molson Indy. An avid golfer, John had been most recently employed by Coppinwood Golf Course in Uxbridge. John had a keen interest in hockey and derived tremendous enjoyment from watching his children and grandchildren play the game at various arenas throughout the GTA. He will be remembered for the words of encouragement he offered freely not only to his own players, but to others as well. John was always happy to spend time with fellow veterans at the Uxbridge Legion as well as other Legions in the areas he visited while on vacation. The family wishes to thank the medical and spiritual support staff of St. Michael’s hospital for their care and compassion, and Father Paul McCarthy of Uxbridge for his guidance and support. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 170, Uxbridge. Friends visited at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Sunday, March 16, 2008 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. The Funeral Mass was held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 70 Toronto Street Uxbridge at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2008 (a date which John would no doubt have appreciated). Following the Funeral Mass, the family welcomes you to join for a reception at The Royal Canadian Legion (109 Franklin Street Uxbridge).
