Buffan, Wayne
Peacefully on April 6, 2008 with his wife by his side Wayne Buffan lost his battle with cancer at the young age of 54. His strength, courage and love will be survived by his beautiful wife Sheila and his loving kids Wayne, Brent, Shane, Carlie, Adam and Charlene. For all he knew, inspired, loved, and laughed with, his wishes are that his life be celebrated and not mourned. A long time resident of Uxbridge passed away peacefully at Markhaven Home for Seniors, Sunday, April 6, 2008 after a lengthy illness in her 84th year. Marie Andrews, wife of the late Lorne F. Andrews, loving mother of son Roger and wife Sandra of Oshawa and daughter Laurel and husband Jon Matheson of Oakville. Loving grandmother to Heather, Allison, Stuart, Diana and Kathryn, step grandmother to Trevor, Petit Jean and Lorraine and great grandmother to Cadence. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 17th at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #170, 109 Franklin St., Uxbridge, Ontario at 12:00 pm. Sydney Alexandra Kerrigan of Uxbridge passed away at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Tuesday March 25, 2008 at the age of only 9 years old. Sydney, with all of her special challenges in life, was a source of so much love, happiness and inspiration to everyone close to her. Sydney’s love, hugs and smiles will be sorely missed by her adoring parents, Sid and Dawn Kerrigan, her loving sisters Hailey and Paige, grandparents Sid and Beverley Kerrigan and Ralph and Carol Butcher, aunts, uncles, cousins, teachers and best friends – her grade 4 classmates at St. Joseph Catholic School. Formerly of Niagara Falls, died peacefully at the age of 85 on March 19, 2008 at Versa Care Uxbridge where she lived for the past seven years. Survived by her son John Warner and his wife Suzanne of Utica, her daughter Cheryl and her husband Dr. David Wiebe of Newmarket, 6 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. McGurk, John Eamon
With profound sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of their beloved father John in Toronto, on March 12th. John was surrounded by family, daughter Kelly (Chuck), sons John (Suzanne) and Derek (Cate), sisters Mary and Kay and brothers Steve and Terry who will mourn the loss of a wonderful father and brother. John was born and raised in Toronto to parents Richard and Bridget on November 9, 1938. In 1962 he married his wife, Estelle (nee Beamish), who predeceased him in 2005. John’s eight grandchildren, (Ryan, Brett, Kaitlin, Hailey, Josh, Lynda, Ava and Nash) will miss his presence at family dinners, his generosity, humour, and his unfailingly good advice. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1956 and was a proud veteran. A dedicated firefighter for 31 years, John served with the former East York Fire Department, retiring in 1993 with a record of excellent service and a history of legendary practical jokes. John will be remembered for his exuberance and warmth. He was an excellent story teller and listener, who loved laughter and did much good. John was a consummate Irishman and a proud Canadian. John was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed working at various times for the Toronto Argonauts, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Molson Indy. An avid golfer, John had been most recently employed by Coppinwood Golf Course in Uxbridge. John had a keen interest in hockey and derived tremendous enjoyment from watching his children and grandchildren play the game at various arenas throughout the GTA. He will be remembered for the words of encouragement he offered freely not only to his own players, but to others as well. John was always happy to spend time with fellow veterans at the Uxbridge Legion as well as other Legions in the areas he visited while on vacation. The family wishes to thank the medical and spiritual support staff of St. Michael’s hospital for their care and compassion, and Father Paul McCarthy of Uxbridge for his guidance and support.
