Watson, Norman R.

passed away at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Tuesday March 11, 2008. Norman Watson beloved husband of the late Katherine Watson (2001). Loving father of Roger and his wife Vicky, and predeceased by his son Chris (2007) and he will be sadly missed by his daughter in law Kim. Dear and wonderful grandfather of Jillian and Joshua. Brother of Bill Maitland and predeceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Dear uncle of several nieces and nephews. Family and friends were received at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach St, Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Sunday March 16, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service was held in the chapel on Monday March 17, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. Interment Pine Grove cemetery , Prince Albert. A reception followed at the funeral home. Memorial donations to the Columbus United Church would be appreciated.

Beach, Beatrice (Joan) (nee: Garrison)
Peacefully in her sleep on Monday March 10, 2008 at Port Perry Hospital in her 78th year. Beloved wife of the late Cy beach. Mother to (the late) Sally Steele, Bill Lithgow and Thomas Beach. Grandmother to Kirk, Kyle, and Keith Steele and Karley, Morgan and Madison Beach and Alex and Jackie Lee Lithgow. Survived by her loving sister Betty Brown and her son Jim and daughter Judy. Family and friends were received at the LOW & LOW FUNERAL HOME, 1763 Reach St. Port Perry, 905-985-7331, on Thursday March 13th 2008, from 12:00 P.M. noon, until time of service in the chapel at 1:00 P.M. If so desired, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, The Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Port Perry Hospital Foundation.

Van Will, Dorothy Maria

passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Toronto General Hospital at the age of 59. Loving mother of Steffan and Robert Brunette, favorite sister of John, Theo, Gidi and Frank Van Will. She will be remembered by all her family and friends. A visitation was held at Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass was held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. If so desired donations in Dorothy’s memory can be made to The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.

Gibson, Elroy Norman Alden
(Veteran WW11, GM retiree)

After a long illness, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday March 8th, 2008. Elroy, loving husband of Vivian, dearest father of Sandra (Ken), Barry (Brenda), Wayne (Marg.), and Murial (Mark). Adored by his 8 grandchildren, and 4 great- grandchildren. Survived by Ruby (Jim), Alma, and Audrey. Predeceased by his sister Dorothy (Claire), and brothers Jack and Dennis. Elroy will be sadly missed by all of his nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. Family and friends will be received at the Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Saturday, March 15th, 2008 from 12:00 noon, until time of Memorial Service at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel. If so desired, donations in Elroy's memory may be made to The Diabetes Association.

Barr, James Moore

Peacefully on Friday, March 7th, 2008 at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital in his 77th year. James, beloved husband of Ida Rose Barr. Dear father of Lori and her partner David, Andy, Kathy and her husband Rob. Fondly remembered by his grandson Braydon. Survived by his brother Andy and predeceased by Hughie. At James’ request there will be no service, cremation. In his memory donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the entire nursing staff and doctors at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.

van Veghel III, Frank

Loved son of Frank & Donna and brother to Jason (Danielle), Ginny (D'Arcy) & Joel (Jamie); uncle to his beloved Liam; and boyfriend to Angie. He will be sadly missed by his Grandmother Elsie Wood and Opa & Oma (Frank & Cathy) van Veghel and over two hundred aunts, uncles, cousins and second cousins. Frank's unique free spirit was an inspiration to all his family, friends and business associates in Miami, California and Ontario.

Fralick, Ivah Norine (Milner)

Peacefully passed away on Monday, February 25, 2008, in her 93rd year, at the Extendicare residence in Mississauga. Ivah, of Scugog Island, devoted wife of the late Cecil Fralick. Dear mother of Linda, Dianne (Jim Young), Sylvia (Brian Weber). Beloved grandmother of Chris, Taira (Mike Milan), Quinn, Adam (Joy Potter), Derek, Marc and great grandmother to Stephanie and Dylan. She will be deeply and sadly missed by her loving family and all who had the pleasure of knowing this lovely, sweet lady. Sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, administrators, personal support workers and staff at Extendicare Mississauga for providing her with a happy, comfortable and good quality of life. Family and friends called at the Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Saturday, March 8, 2008 from 1 to 2 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ivah Fralick was held in the chapel on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made at the funeral home by cheque to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Spinal Cord Research Centre.

Driedger, Cornelius (Neil)

passed away at The Woodhaven Nursing Home, Markham on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the age of 72. Loving husband of Gertrude. Father of Carole Leamen, Vera and Barry Carter and Rosemarie and Cal McCathie. Grandfather of Jeffery, Julia and her fiancé Iain, Jennifer, Cheryl, Christopher, Sarah, Kevin and Eric. Brother of Jake and Shirley Driedger. Retired from Westinghouse after 33 years. A Funeral Service was held at Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson’s Society would be appreciated.

Van Nieuwenhove, Sharlene

Peacefully at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 in her 65th year. Beloved wife of the late Ed. Loving mother of Lisha and her husband Brian and Scott and his wife Joanne. Wonderful Nana to Ivy, Maja, Paige, Allison, and Sara. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Jean Nobes. Sharlene was and active member of the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. A Service to Celebrate Sharlene’s life was held at Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 11:30 with visitation 1 hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations to Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.

Eaton, Nancy (nee Speirs)

passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, February 23rd, 2008. Nancy, loving wife of the late Kenneth Eaton. Dearest mother of Elaine, and Janice (Michael Gilmour). Proud grandmother of Kenneth, Ryan, Kirstie, and Mackenzie. Special Nana to Kirby and Yukon, her beloved grand-dogs. With great honour, Nancy served in the Land army, Forestry Commission for Scotland in the Second World War. Family and friends were received at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach Road, Port Perry (905)-985-7331 on Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Nancy’s life was held on Wednesday February 27th, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel (complete). In lieu of flowers, a donation would be appreciated to the foundation of Lakeridge Health, Port Perry.

passed away at Lakeridge Health in Port Perry on Saturday February 16, 2008. Tom Jordan husband of the late Pansy Jordan. Loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Dear mother of Marie and her husband Peter Forsyth and Betty and her late husband Donald Cowden. Loving grandma of Ronald, James (Kerri), and Kenneth (Beth) Forsyth, Maureen (Paul) Lang, John and Paul Cowden and Nancy (the late Jerry) Clarke. Great-grand of Shannon, Tanya, Amy and Mary-Ann Lang, Jessica Forsyth and Jake Cowden. Predeceased by sister Ethyl, brothers Arthur, Harold, William and Ross. A visitation was held at Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 2:00 p.m. with visitation 1 hour before. Spring interment Uxbridge cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Uxbridge Cottage Hospital, Community Care Durham, Uxbridge or Trinity United Church would be appreciated.

Murphy, George Edward (Ted)

passed away on Friday, February 15, 2008 in his 81st year. Loving husband for 56 years of Barbara (nee: Kelly) of Uxbridge. Dear father of Maureen (Bob) Greenwood, Dan (Karen), Greg (Claudia), Ross (the late Laura), Patrick (Sue), Christine (Dave) Bass, Colin (Lyne), and Tom. Proud Grandfather of Andrew (Candy), Chris, Caitlin, James, Sean, Lia, Caroline, Emily, Quinn, Vaughan, Sibeal, Justin, Jonathan, Ellie, Conor, Emmett, Morgan, Michelle, Janine, Alyse, Liana, Ryan, Fraser, Karin, Sam, Duncan, and Eamon. Dear brother of Margaret Davies, the late Jack, Jack (the late Kay), the late Gen Poole (Laurie), Jim (Sheila), the late Win, the late Paul (Deira), and Lawrence (Catherine). Will be missed in bridge and curling circles and by his many other friends. He had a special place in his heart for the Banh and Hingert families. He contributed generously to several family related charities. Ted lead a full life surrounded by family at his farm and cottage and enjoyed 50 years as a Chartered Accountant. We would like to thank the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital and Bloomington Cove for their kind care and support. A Visitation was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Monday, February 18, 2008 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A private family mass has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ted’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Durham.
