McCoy, Robert A. (Bob)
Founder of Brooklin Concrete Products Limited and owner for 54 years

passed away at his home in Port Perry on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the age of 79. Bob McCoy loving companion of Carol Chiffot of 23 years of Port Perry. Father of John and his wife Debbie McCoy of Port Perry and Janet and her husband David Farmer of Whitby. Loving grampa of Katie and Michael McCoy and Erin and Cameron Farmer. Dear twin brother of Carl McCoy of Port Perry and brother of Marilyn Sorenson of Victoria B.C. and predeceased by Betty Murphy. Bob will be sadly missed by Duane Chiffot. Family and friends called at the Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach Street Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Thursday, October 25, 2007 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service was held on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, 1680 Reach Street Port Perry. Cremation will follow. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Port Perry Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.

Baxter, Robert (Bud)

It is with great sadness that the family wishes to announce the passing of Robert Baxter on October 13th 2007 at MacKenzie Place, Long Term Care, in Newmarket. A dedicated husband, father, uncle, brother, grandfather & great grandfather, he will be sadly missed by his second wife Shirley and her daughter Lisa, 3 sons Gary, Randy and Gordon. 2 daughters Sandra Smith and Francine Bell. 3 sisters Myrna Archer, Carol Liski and Sue Featheran. 3 brothers Warner, Hugh and Ric. 8 grandchildren Bobby, Jeffery, Nadine, Melissa, Lanaye, Taryn, Kimberly and Andrew. 2 great grandchildren Bobby jr. and Skyla. Along with nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Robert (Bud) was born in Montreal, Quebec March 13th 1930 to Robert Baxter Sr. & Catherine Robinson. He met and fell in love with Irene Alberta Millichamp and they married on February 19th 1949. From there history was made! A private family graveside service will lay Robert to rest.

Taylor, Ronald Albert

passed away at home on Friday, October 12, 2007, at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Joyce for 55 years. Loving father of Sharon and Blain and his wife Jan. Proud grandfather of Katelyn and Luke. Survived by brothers; Allan (Marion), Murray (Doris), Richard (Noreen) and sister; Darlene (Bill Graham) and sister’s-in-law; Dorothy and Blanche. Predeceased by brothers Bruce and Willis. A Memorial Service was held in the chapel at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. In Ron’s memory, donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Talbot, Carole Doris

Peacefully at Markham Stouffville Hospital on Monday, October 8, 2007, at the age of 67. Carole, beloved wife of Bob. Lovingly remembered by her sons Rick (Leanne) and Jeff (Nancey) Amyotte. She will be missed by her grandchildren Jake, Mitchell, Bennet, Jensen, Quinn, Lake, and Chelsey. Beloved sister of George “Chub” (Lynne), and Norma (Jack). She will be remembered by her nieces, nephews and her many friends. The family would like to express an extra thank you to the intensive care unit, the nurses, Dr. Vavona, and Dr. Lola at the Markham Stouffville Hospital for all of their hard work. A Funeral Service was held in the chapel at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carole’s memory to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation would be appreciated.

Shier, Howard Bernard

Peacefully, at the age of 90 with his wife by his side on Tuesday, October 2, 2007. Howard beloved husband of Eulah Shier (nee Parish). Loving father of late Marilyn Siegrist (nee Shier), Anne Walker (James) of Ottawa, and Gerry Shier (Dawn) of Florida. Howard will be missed by his 10 grandchildren Sherry Craig (Brian), Cynthia Wilson (Dean), Kathy Greene (Neil), Miriam Walker, James Walker, Trilby Shier, Leslie Shier, Steve (Sara) Boyles, Tara Moxham (Robert), and Megan Boyles. He will be greatly missed by his many great grandchildren Douglas, Trevor, Ryan, Chloe, Jake, Jenna, Brian, Ava, and Tyson. Predeceased by his sister Pauline Snoddon (Ross). Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Family and friends were received at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 for visitation on Thursday, October 4, 2007 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service was held at the Trinity United Church (20 First Avenue, Uxbridge) at 2:00 p.m. Interment at St. John cemetery , Sunderland. In Howard’s memory, donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Uxbridge Cottage Hospital, and Trinity United Church would be appreciated.

Stephens, Bruce

passed away at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at the age of 84. Loving husband of 63 years to Gwen Stephens. Cherished father of James (Anna Rae) Stephens of Oakville, Joanne (Dave) Barkey of Uxbridge, Linda Stephens of Peterborough and Wendy Stephens of Uxbridge. Proud grandfather of Tyler McNeill. Predeceased by brothers Stewart, Donald, John and sister Audrey. Family and friends called at the Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach Road Port Perry (905) 985-7331 for a celebration of Bruce's life of Friday, October 5, 2007 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Private interment Uxbridge cemetery. In memory of Bruce, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Fine, Daniel
September 5, 1934 – September 30, 2007

After a long and challenging battle with lymphoma, Dan passed away Sunday, September 30, 2007 at the Lakeridge Health, Oshawa. Born in New York City, New York he moved to his current home in Siloam in 1975. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sylvia (nee Balz) and the pride of his life, his son Mark of Minneapolis, his daughter-in-law Amy and his only grandchild Elliott. He will be missed by his sisters-in-law; Patty, Rhia, Leona, Renee his brothers-in-law Joe, Roger, Peter and all of his nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by his mother-in-law Irene. He will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Low and Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge.

Sauve, Esther E. (Nee; Anderson)
February 5, 1931 – September 29, 2007

Peacefully after a short but courageous battle with cancer, Esther passed away on September 29th 2007 at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital at the age of 76. Esther and her husband of 60 years, Sam, retired to Uxbridge 20 years ago. Prior to her retirement, Esther worked for the Royal Bank for 37 years, starting at an entry level clerical position and working her way up the promotional ladder to become one of the first female bank managers in the country. Immediately following her retirement, she went back to the Royal Bank as the first Mobile Mortgage Sale Specialist – a trailblazer who helped redefine the residential mortgage business. Despite her love for her career, and the many accomplishments she achieved, Esther’s first love was to her family. It is with heavy hearts that she leaves behind her devoted husband Sam, and daughters Jacqueline Cafissi (Max), Kathryn Uden (pre-deceased Richard) and Sharon Sauve (John King), five adoring grandchildren, Andrea Cafissi, Steven Uden (Catharine), Paul Cafissi (Jamie), Lori-Anne Uden and Mark Romanelli, and one very special great-grandson Samuel Cafissi. She also leaves loving step-grandchildren Brian Uden and Justine Uden, and many close friends both in Canada and Florida where her and Sam spent their retirement winters. We thank the very special care-givers at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital and the Community Home Care programs for their endless hours of support and comfort to both Esther and the family. Visitation was held at Low & Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Wednesday October 3, 2007 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and Thursday October 4, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m. Donations to The Uxbridge Cottage Hospital and/or The Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.

Hackett, Irene Winnifred

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Irene Winnifred (McVeigh) Hackett in her 75th year at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Friday, September 28, 2007. Mom is predeceased by her husband Roy Louis Hackett. Loving mother of Pat (Rick) Paisley, Maureen (Bob) Cochran, Brenda (deceased)(John Kuenen), Brian, Charmaine (Dave) O’Brien, Eric (Marie) Lamers, and Tina (Ken) Enderwick. Fun loving grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Survived by brother William (Helen) McVeigh and sister May Gorin and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends were received at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 for visitation on Monday, October 1, 2007 from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service was held in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. In Irene’s memory, donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

King, Lynda Janet (Nee; Lee)

It is with great sadness for the family to announce the passing of Lynda in her 66th year at her home in Uxbridge on September 27, 2007. Beloved wife of Robert for 44 years. She will be forever cherished in the hearts of her children Paul (Jen) and Katie (Eric) and grandchildren Liam, Malcolm, Kenzie and Hannah. Lynda will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Laura (Frank) and Peggy (Ed) and nieces and nephews. Dunford, Elsie

passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa in her 92nd year. Elsie Dunford, dearly beloved wife of Syd Dunford of Brooklin. Loving mother of David, Ronald and Glenn. Dear grandmother of Jamie, Jennifer, Mackenzie, Melissa, Candice, Carissa and Ryan. Elsie loved living in Canterbury Common and will be missed by her many friends in Port Perry. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Elsie was held in the chapel at the Low & Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach St., Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated.

Koesters, Heinrich (Heinz)

passed away peacefully at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Monday, September 24, 2007, in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Anne Marie for over 52 years. Loving father of Anneliese and her friend Fred Williams, Karl and his wife Mary and Peter and his wife Sandy. Proud opa of Joey, Katlin and Robert. “Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flowers; we will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind.” At the request of the family, no services will be held at this time.
