Over the past 11 years, a non native son of Uxbridge has been taken in as one of your own. After an 11 years struggle with Leukemia, we are sadden to announce the passing of a wonderful young man. Joshua Laing passed away at 11:15a.m. on Friday, February 2nd at the Princess Margaret Hospital at the tender age of 23 years. At his tender age he managed to touch the lives of a great many people. We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the town of Uxbridge that has always given a tremendous amount of love and support for our son, Josh, through the years. His battle was one that was fought by everyone in town, as we shared our experience with you. I know you also feel our pain with his loss. We would like to invite you to his memorial service that was held on Friday, February 9th at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion on Franklin St. I know he managed to touch the lives of friends, family and strangers alike. In lieu of flowers, we would like to encourage donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. We, Josh’s parents, cannot express our thanks to the people of Uxbridge, who without your support, could not have gotten through this terrible ordeal, and experienced some wonderful moments with our son.

Passed over peacefully on Tuesday January 30, 2007 at Lakeridge Health in Port Perry. Devoted husband for 65 years of Lillian (Benny) nee Fralick. Beloved father and father-in-law of Karen and Bill (Huestis). Loving grandpa of Kathy (Darrell), Kim (Ralph) and Kevin (Catherine) and loving great grandpa of Brendan, Stephanie and Alyssa. Clarke will be sadly missed by all, including his sister Marion (John) Quigley and his many nieces and nephews. Born in Canning, Nova Scotia in 1918. He came to Toronto in 1936, he worked for Danforth Radio and Multi-Tech. Clarke enlisted in the R.A.F. in 1941 and served overseas for 3 years. He was a member of Whitevale G.C. and worked and played at Crestwood Gold Club. Clarke was honoured with a life membership in the Lions Club He was a longtime member of the Seagrave United Church and served as a Steward, Elder and Choir member. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Smith, all the nurses and staff who so lovingly cared for him during his long hospital stay, also many thanks to Rev. Ross Carson for his many visits and care. They will all miss Clarke’s wonderful sense of humour. passed away on January 23, 2007, at age 84, in Uxbridge, Ontario. He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen (neeGreen). He is survived by his children Mary(Marvin) Atkinson of Whitby, George (Audrey) of London, Ontario, Brian (Pat) of Calgary, and Douglas (Anne) of Melbourne, Austraila. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Harold was born and raised in Nanaimo, British Columbia and served on 17 Squadron with RAF in Burma during WW2. A memorial service will be held in Nanaimo at a later date. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
