Hansen, Karen Jane

A huge bit of “Sparkle” left our lives when our sister and aunt Karen passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 just two days before her 39th birthday. Born September 7, 1951 she was the beloved twin of Carol and the adored sister of Sharon Wilbee (Fred), Lynda Ford (Wayne), Barb Barfoot (John), Judy Huhn (Jurgen), Jim (Marie), John (Joanne), Tom and her treasured brother Carl. Karen was very proud of her nieces and nephews. She made each one feel special and will be dearly missed by Dan, Jeff, Paul, Colleen, Leanne, Allison, Victoria, Sara, Kevin, Melissa, Jennifer, Angela, Kristine, and John. She was predeceased by her parents John and Evelyn Hansen and infant sister Dale. Loved by aunts, uncles and cousins. Karen loved people and had the compassionate gift of seeing the good in everyone. She is now with Mummy H, smiling down on us saying “You Gotta Lyle Love It!” Family and friends may call at the Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Saturday, September 8, 2007 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Karen will be held in the chapel on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in Karen’s memory to Community Living Durham North would be appreciated.

Fairley, Julia

passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital, in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late James Alan Fairley. Loving mother of the late Ronald Fairly and the late Patricia Gajewski. Proud grandmother of Michael, Julia, Sandra and Mark Gajewski. Will be sadly missed by her great granddaughter Brooklynn. Family and friends were received at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 for visitation on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service was held on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 11:00 am. in the chapel. Interment St. John’s on the Humber cemetery. In memory of Julia, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Baker, Frank A.C.

Very peacefully, on August 30, 2007, with his family present, in his 90th year. A life lived to the fullest, a friend and example to everyone. Husband, father, grandfather, friend, companion, mentor – there is no one who was not affected by knowing him. Terribly missed, but with cherished memories, by Violet, his wife, companion, and best friend for over 62 years, and by a large and loving gathering of family, friends, and acquaintances. A Service to celebrate Frank’s life will be held on Friday, September 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one-hour prior at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073.

passed away peacefully at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Wednesday, August 29, 2007, in his 79th year. Loving father of Steve (Sharon) of Minnesota, Greg (Mary) of Beaverton, Jeff of Sarnia, Lisa (Wayne) Erwin of Ohio, Karen of Uxbridge. Will be sadly missed by his 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Survived by his brother Don (Sandra) of Uxbridge. Steven, Sydney (Eaton Employee)

passed away at his home in Port Perry with his family by his side on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at the age of 70. Sydney Steven was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Ruhl, Chris

passed away peacefully at the Port Perry Community Hospital on Monday, August 13, 2007. In his 86th year. Beloved husband of Johanna for 55 years. Dear father of Bill and his wife Lynda, Peggy and her husband Will Burke, Tina and her husband David Martin, Bert Ruhl and his wife Sarah Cowley, Chris Ruhl and his wife Claire Hart-Ruhl. Proud Opa of Zachary, Myles, Melinda, Amber, Jonathon, Jeremy, Monique, Breanne and Alise. Survived by his brothers and sisters in Holland. Many thanks to Dr. Steven Russell and the nurses and staff at the Port Perry Community Hospital for their kind care. Colvin, Ruth Anne
Retired from General Motors of Canada after 36.5 years of service

Our loving mother peacefully slipped away with her family at her side on Monday, August 13, 2007 after a long courageous battle with cancer, in her 64th year. She will be greeted with loving arms in heaven by her loving husband Ronald L. Colvin. She will be sadly missed by her loving and devoted family, her eldest son Douglas Benness, daughter Dorothy (Jason) Newell, son James (Sharon) Colvin and youngest son Ronald Colvin. Dear grandmother of Ashley, Bobby, Dillon, Ryan and Ryley, and great-grandmother to baby Cash who helped brighten her days and ease her burdens when her spirits were low. Beloved daughter of the late Dorothy and Percy Thompson. Dearest sister of John Thompson and special friend Joyce McCabe. Loving sister of Wendy (Reg) Shaw and Bonnie Thompson-Michaud (predeceased). She will be sadly missed by all her uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Family and friends were received at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Thursday, August 16, 2007 for visitation from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service was held on Friday, August 17, 2007 in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment Pine Grove cemetery , Prince Albert. Matthaeus, Brigitte

passed away peacefully after a brief second time around with cancer on August 11, 2007. Predeceased by husband Joachim (2000). Much loved mother of Sabine (Doug), Bruce (Laurie). Best Oma of Belinda (Jason), Nicole (Scott), Will, Tom and Samantha. Great-grandma (Oma) to Reyna, Jacob and Hunter. She also leaves behind relatives in Germany and in Chicago with whom she just visited. She had no idea how much she will be missed. Much thanks to the nurses and doctors at Sunnybrook Hospital for their excellent care. Cremation to take place. At her request, there will be no services. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry (905) 985-7331.

Morrison, Chad William

Suddenly from the result of a car accident on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at the age of 21. Chad, beloved son of Sharron Morrison and Paul Willms. Dearly loved brother of Cory (Jenny) Morrison and step brother to James Willms and girlfriend Amanda Tache. Fondly remembered by his nieces Shelby, Sierra, his nephew Julian and his many friends. Foster, Brent Brian

Tragically, as the result of an automobile accident on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at the age of 20. Brent, beloved son of Brian and Jacquie. Loving brother of Brian T. and Stephanie. Brent will be lovingly remembered by his grandparents Sid and Bev Kerrigan, his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Cremation followed. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.
