O’Brien, Doreen (nee: Holditch)

Peacefully at Lakeridge Health, Port Perry on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at the age of 70. Doreen beloved wife of the late Ross Traux and the late Denis O’Brien. Dear mother to Kim O’Brien and Denise O’Brien. Loving grandmother to Tyler McWhirter. Survived by her sister Shirley Adams. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. A Service to Celebrate Doreen’s life was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Sunday, August 5, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. visitation will be held one hour prior. In Memory of Doreen donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Petto, Julia

passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 1, 2007 at the Community Nursing Home in Port Perry in her 95th year. Julia Petto wife of the late Stefan Petto. Julia will be sadly missed by her loving daughters Terri Phipps, Pauline Petto and son Bob Petto. Dear grandmother of 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Family and friends called at the Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Saturday August 4, 2007 from 10 to 11 a.m. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Julia Petto was held in the chapel on Saturday August 4, 2007 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Hendy, Laura Jane (nee: Feasby)

Suddenly while on vacation in Mexico , Sunday, July 29, 2007 in her 66th year. Dearly beloved wife of Frank Hendy. Loving mother of Wanda Hendy (Stan Rowe) and Mark Hendy (Mandy) of Brooklin. Grand mother of Robert, Thomas and Rachel Hendy. Survived by her brother Stan Feasby (Cheryl) of Prince Albert, sister-in-law of Jane and Sam Hendy of Stouffville. Loving aunt of Mike and Pat Forfar, Scott (Melanie), Mike (Crystal) Feasby, and the late Lisa Feasby. Great aunt of Brooklynn and Kennedy Feasby and Christopher and Kevin Forfar. Daughter of the late Norman and Maude Feasby of Goodwood. Foster mother to many children. Laura was an excellent gardener and showman. A long time member of Markham Fair and will be missed for her entries of flowers and vegetables at Uxbridge and Markham Fair. Visitation will be held at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Friday, August 3, 2007 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Goodwood cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Hospital for Sick Children or the Goodwood United Church.

Reese, Rev. Dr. Lawrence “Larry”

passed away peacefully at the Markham Stouffville Hospital on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Edith “Deedie”. Loving father of Anita and her husband Terry Sinclair and Mark and his wife Janice Reese. Adored grandfather of Emily Sinclair and Annie Reese. He will be remembered by his sister Phyllis and her husband Bob Steven. Family and friends called at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 for visitation on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. In Larry’s memory, donations made to the Precious Minds would be appreciated by the family.

Kruithof, Henry Teunis

passed away peacefully at his home in Uxbridge on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at age 81. Henry beloved husband of the late Hendrika. Dear father of Mary, John, Rosa and Diana. Fletcher, Rita

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Rita at Lakeridge Health, Port Perry on Monday, July 23, 2007. Rita dearly beloved wife of the late Robert E. Fletcher. Loving mother of David and his wife Antonietta of Port Perry. Cherished Grandma to Anthony. A memorial tree planting service will be held at a later date. Peacefully on Monday, July 23, 2007 at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. Bedelia, beloved wife of the late Lenard. Survived by her sister Frances Williams and predeceased by her brothers Jim, Wilfred and Ron, sisters Dorothy, Winnifred and Lily. Lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. At Bedelia’s request there will be a private family service. In her memory donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Peacefully in his sleep at home on Friday, July 20, 2007 in his 73rd year. Beloved husband of Linda (49 years). Loving and devoted father of Julia (James) and Jill (Dave). He will be dearly missed by grandchildren Andrew, Scott, Peter, Laura (her adored Poppa), Taylor and Kevin; brother Garth (Patti); sister Mary (Ed) of Calgary, sister Marlene; sisters-in-law Joyce and Gwen. Will be sadly missed by his large extended family and many, many friends. Peacefully on Friday, July 20, 2007 at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Johanna and the late Catherine (nee: McNicoll). Loving father of Ian (Mary), Floyd (Susan), Arlene (Roger) and predeceased by Kenneth. He will be missed by his grandchildren Brian (Cindy), Stephen, Andrew, Laura, Vanessa and Jacqui. Keslering, Dale

Age 49 passed away peacefully surrounded by family July 15, 2007 after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by his parents John and Anita Keslering of Penticton, British Columbia and his sister Phyllis LeBlanc of Cranbrook, British Columbia. Survived by his brother John of Burnaby, British Columbia. Dale will be missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Dale was a passionate banjo player, talented sportsman, a loyal G.M.employee of 18 years and most of all a dedicated husband and best friend to Barb. A generous father to Michael, Jenilee, Richard wife Dina and grandson Brady and a loyal friend to many. Special thanks to C.C.A.C. "The Blue Team", Staff of the Oncology and Palliative Care Units of Toronto East General Hospital. Heartful thanks to Dr Jacinta Meharchand "Oncologist Extroidinaire", Dr Workentin, Anita Cadeau, Josie Barbieri-Tacoma. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Dales life was held on Saturday July 21,2007 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM at Carruthers Creek Golf and Country Club 650 Lakeridge Road Ajax. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit Toronto East General Hospital, 825 Coxwell Avenue Toronto.

Blackburn, Penny Nee: Snead

After a courageous battle, Penny passed away peacefully at the age of 60 surrounded by her loved ones at Markham-Stouffville Hospital on July 14, 2007. Beloved wife of Cecil Blackburn, loving mother of Angela Mackinnon and Christy Mayrs (Paul). Precious grandmother of Keagan and Grady Mayrs, dear daughter of Helen and the late Robert Snead. Sister to Patti Weckworth (Harold). Daughter-in-law to Harvey and Luella Blackburn, sister-in-law to Sally Blackburn, Eric and Gail Blackburn, Bert and Gale Blackburn, and Brian and Luanne Evans. Penny will be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends especially her furry canine companion “Joey.” Penny was a well respected member of the Uxbridge community and worked many years as a Dental Assistant for Dr. R. Hunter and the Late Dr. P. Lehman. Friends called at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 for visitation on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 from 10 a.m. until time of service in the chapel at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Uxbridge cemetery. Memorial donations to Arthritis Society and The Durham Lung Association would be appreciated.
