Hicken, Michael Leonard
February 11, 1945 – July 13, 2007

Died peacefully on Friday, July 13, 2007 in his 63rd year. Survived by his wife Carolyn (nee Donaldson), children Jason (Amy) of Barrie, Christina (Jeremy) of Vancouver and Paul (Natalie) of Markham and grandchildren Braydon and Rhease Hicken. Brother of Cynthia (Jim) Allen of Scarborough and Leonard (Judy) Hicken of London. Predeceased by his parents Nora and Leonard.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr Yee and the nursing staff at Markham-Stouffville ICU.
Memorial donations may be made to the Jennifer Ashleigh Children’s Charity, Durham Hospice or a charity of choice.
A celebration of Mike’s life took take place on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Low & Low Funeral Home, 23 Main St. S., Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 with visitation Tuesday, July 17, 2007 from 7 – 9 p.m.

Burrows, Joseph Wilbur
Veteran World War II & Member Of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 419, Port Perry

passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Lakeridge Health in Port Perry on Thursday July 12, 2007 in his 94th year. Joe Burrows husband of the late Jessie Burrows. Joe will be sadly missed by his loving companion Barb Pascoe. Loving father of Bonnie (Colin) Alford and Penny (Bob) Starr. Special Grampy of Nickie (Christina) Alford, Stacey (Dennis) Gatti, Ryan (Katie) Starr, Courtney Starr and great grandfather of Joey, Claire, Emily and Adalina. Dear brother of Russ Burrows. Family and friends called at the Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach St., Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Sunday July 15, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Royal Canadian Legion service and a complete funeral service was held in the chapel on Monday July 16, 2007 at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Bruce, Joseph (Joe)

passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa on Wednesday July 11, 2007 at the age of 80. Joe Bruce husband of the late Jane Bruce (nee Gallagher) and Jean Bruce (nee Hindson). Loving father of Pauline and her husband Alan Knight, Susan Crooks, Robert and his wife Laurie Bruce and father in law of the late Tom Crooks. Dear grandfather of Chris, Ashleigh, Emma, Clive, Kelly and great grandfather of Luke, Leah and Lewis. Brother of Bill and his wife Terri Bruce. Family and friends may call at the Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach St., Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Thursday July 19, 2007 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Joe Bruce will be held in the chapel on Thursday July 19, 2007 at 1 p.m. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Parkinson Society of Canada would be appreciated.

Smith, Ralph

passed away at the Versa Care Centre in Uxbridge on Tuesday July 10, 2007 at the age of 85. Ralph Smith husband of Pat Smith. Loving father of Carol and her husband Dan Steward, Ray and his wife Kathy Smith and predeceased by his daughter Ann and her husband Keith Moore. Dear grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Brother of Raymond, Tex, Shirley, Kay and predeceased by Lloyd, Earl, Lorraine, Jim, Lucy and Edna. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Family and friends called at the Low & Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach St., Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Saturday July 21, 2007 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ralph Smith was held in the chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Cowboy Crisis Fund would be appreciated.

Sinclair, Aileen Mary (Molly)

One great lady; one life well lived. Molly was a woman ahead of her time – a business woman, a teacher, a leader, a woman of faith. She was one great & influential mother & grandmother to Ron (Barbara, Lynne, Brian, & Alan), Jim (Pat, Scott, & Todd), Kathy (Barrie, Kendra & Krystyne), Susan (Kyle & Tyler), and later to Stephen (Roberta) and John (Heather). Best friend & wife of the late James Cameron. Great Grandma to 7, so far! Predeceased by her brothers, Art & Bruce; much loved by sisters, Jessie & Margaret. Mom passed away peacefully on July 10, 2007 in her 91st year, with Kathy & Susan by her side. She was an inspiration to many; always giving, sharing and lending a hand. Her radiant smile & her sparkling eyes conveyed her love of life. What a legacy she left! A celebration of Molly’s life was held at Uxbridge Baptist Church, 231 Brock St. W, Uxbridge, Ontario on Thursday, July 12, 2007. If desired, donations to Parkview Home, 123 Weldon Rd, Stouffville, ON L4A 0G8 or Uxbridge Baptist, Mission Fund, 231 Brock St. W. Uxbridge, ON L9P 1B1 would be appreciated by the family.

passed away quietly on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the Oshawa Hospital. Beloved husband of Mary and dear father of Katherine and David. Loving grandfather of William Peter. He will be sadly missed. Lehman, Dr. Ronald Paul

Dr. Ronald Paul Lehman, born September 3, 1947, passed away on July 9, 2007 after a long and courageous fight. Paul, loving husband of Catherine Elizabeth, and proud father of four boys Matthew Paul, Kristofer Ronald, Jared Wesley and Jordan Brandford of Uxbridge, is now dancing in heaven with his Lord and Saviour upon whom he waited. He is soaring with wings as eagles, running and not growing weary, walking and not fainting. Paul is united with his father, Harold Stanley Lehman, and leaves behind his devoted mother Marjory Afton Lehman of Agincourt, and caring brother Stanley Raymond Lehman and his wife Patricia May of Port Sydney, and mother-in-law Catherine Stewart. Paul was a dentist in Uxbridge from 1971 to 2000 and resided in Huntsville from 2001. Paul was blessed in countless ways and with many friends. Thank you from the family with our deepest appreciation to all the health care professionals in the Huntsville community who assisted in Paul’s care with dedication, concern and professional expertise.
Visitation was held at Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Thursday, July 12, 2007 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service was held on Friday, July 13, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Uxbridge Baptist Church. Interment Foster Memorial cemetery. Memorial donations in loving memory of Dr. Paul can be made to the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, Huntsville Memorial Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital (Movement Disorders Clinic) or Uxbridge Baptist Church.

Sonley, Lorna

It is with great sadness that her family announces the passing, at home, of Lorna (Galloway) Sonley on July 6, 2007 in her 86th year. Lorna will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her wit and sense of humour. Lorna Galloway Sonley, formerly of Oshawa, Ontario, was the beloved wife of the late Lloyd Sonley (2002). Lorna was a loving and devoted mother and will be forever missed by her children, Art and wife Marg, Chris and wife Sue, Heather (deceased), Stewart and wife Linda, and all of their respective children. Dear sister of Cyril Galloway (deceased) and his wife Kathy and their children, Tracey, Janice, David, Paula, Andrew, Diana, and all of their respective children. The family is very grateful and would like to thank the many people who provided kindness, care and support from Community Care, especially Isabelle Nixon and Michele Gilroy. A very special thanks from Stewart and Linda Sonley to Dr. Jennifer Wilson, whose thoughtfulness, care and continued advice for both Lloyd and Lorna Sonley over the past seven years made is possible to care for and keep both parents at home as per their wishes. We can never thank her enough. Barrett, Wendy Faye

Our precious wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend entered into rest after a short but courageous battle with cancer on June 29, 2007 in her 47th year. Dearly missed by husband Bill, son Brandon (Heidi), mother Joan, brother Danny (Vicki) and niece Samantha. A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Anglers and Hunters Association.

Keys, William John Gardiner

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William John Gardiner Keys in his 84th year. He will be sadly missed by many, especially by his sons Ross (Teresa), Bobby (June) and his daughter Kathryn de Vries (Bart) and his loving grandchildren Todd, Christine, Devon and Michael. He is predeceased by his first wife Lera Ross who he adored. He was extremely fortunate to find true love a second time around when he married Ruby Lanthier from Winnipeg. He gained three more sons and a daughter through this union. Larry (Edna), Donny (Myrna), Melvin (Karen) and June Van Lanker (Ray) and he cherished the many occasions he shared with them. He loved all his family and especially enjoyed spending time at his beloved cottage on Boshkung Lake including all the many friends he made and cherished there. He also enjoyed returning home to his roots around the town of South Mountain where he grew up with many wonderful family and friends lasting memories. John was a WW II veteran, graduated from U of T in 1950 as an engineer, spent most of his career at Imperior Oil, and after retirement was a founding partner of the engineering consulting firm J and B Engineering. Rested at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge, (905) 852-3073 on Thursday, June 28, 2007 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Friday, June 29, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation to follow. John loved life, family, friends and learning. The family would like to thank the great staff at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital for their fabulous care. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.
