Peacefully at The Wexford on Saturday, June 18th, 2005. Maddalena beloved wife of the late Giovanni. Loving mother of Rosa, Michelina, Antonietta, Lina and Oto. Loved by all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cherished by all her family and her many, many friends. Mrs. Abbatangelo will be resting at the TRULL (EAST TORONTO) FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 1111 Danforth Avenue on Tuesday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral Mass at ST. BRIGID'S CHURCH, 300 Wolverleigh Blvd. on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment Pine Hills cemetery.

ABARQUEZ, Elizabeth (Betsy)

(Retired Registered Nurse) At the Markham Stouffville Hospital on Monday, April 24, 2006 in her 62nd year. Betsy, beloved wife of Rhett and loving mother of Wendy (Jeff Hopkins), Tina (Roy Rochon), Lisa (Gary Bower) and Lesley (Alan Bradley). Greatest Lola to Gavin, Jackolin, Dalton, Emma, Liam, Alyssa and Connor. Sister of Billy, Albert, Maryann and Wally. Predeceased by Bobby. Betsy was a very active member of the community. Past-Chairperson of the Toronto Folk Arts Council, 30 year affiliation with the Fiesta Filipina Dance Troupe and an active member of the Good Shepherd Parish Community. She enjoyed her movie and casino trips. She will be very sadly missed by all her family and friends. Friends may call at the Jerrett Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge Street, North York (2 lights south of Steeles) on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Parish, 21 Simonston Blvd., Thornhill. Interment Holy Cross cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.

AASMAE, Helve (nee Soo)

passed away peacefully, after a long, courageous battle with illness, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, on Friday, August 25, 2006, at the age of 76. She will be fondly remembered by her many friends around the world and relatives in Estonia. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Visitation, Chapel and Reception Centre of York cemetery , 160 Beecroft Road, North York. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church or Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. (Arrangements by Murray E. JOGCHUM J. (JOHN) AALPOEL
February 4, 1927 - April 17, 2006

passed away at home in Kleinburg on Monday, April 17, 2006, after having shown great courage and dignity in his valiant battle with cancer. He retired from the Toronto Ferry, Metro Toronto in 1992 and leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Christine, family and friends in Canada, Holland and Australia. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A grateful thank you to CCAC and St.Elizabeth Health Care for the loving care that made it possible for John to be at home. Amemorial reception will be held on Saturday, April 22 from 1-4 o'clock at Copper Creek Golf Club, 11191 Highway 27, Kleinburg, Ontario. Flowers gratefully declined. CLARK, John Joseph (Jack)

(Very Worshipful Brother) - 1919-2005 - Peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife and family on Sunday, June 5, 2005 at the Waterford Nursing Home, Oakville, Ontario. Jack, a native of Tillsonburg, Ontario started his railway career with the London-Port Stanley Railroad in 1942, joining the CPR's passenger department at Windsor, Ontario in 1944. A year later he was transferred to Camp Borden as ticket clerk, transporting troops overseas during the war, becoming acting agent there prior to being posted to Toronto City Ticket office from where he came to St.John, New Brunswick as travelling passenger agent. Jack travelled extensively with his CPR career before joining the original "Group of Six" in 1966, forming the GO Transit System. Jack said farewell to GO Transit in 1984. Jack was readily received into Free Masonry in 1949 and was Past Master of Ionic Lodge No. 25 and Trafalgar Lodge No. 712 before being appointed Grand Steward in 1997. Jack was predeceased by his late wife Margaret and is survived by his loving wife Brenda and family. Jack will be remembered as a well respected, kind and gentle man. Friends may call at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville (905-844-3221) on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. For the memorial service details, please contact the funeral home. ACORN, Doreen - On Monday, May 15, 2006 at the Toronto East General Hospital, Doreen, beloved wife of the late Les Acorn. ACTON, Donald Beach
February 13, 1922 - June 26, 2006

Suddenly and peacefully at Sunnybrook Veterans Hospital, Toronto. Don is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Marian Eleanor Acton (nee Thompson) of Aurora, Ontario and father of Brenda Storr (Michael), David (Marilyn), Bill (Susan Loube) and grandfather of Cathy, Wendy, Sharon, Karen, Trevor and Sam. Great-grandfather of Hollye Michelle and Carter Donald Campbell. Predeceased by sister Eileen (Sweet), he leaves his sister Evelyn (Jack MacDonald) and brother Robert (Margaret) as well as many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Ottawa, Don served as a lieutenant in the Canadian Army Corps from 1943 - 1945, and graduated from Queen's University in 1947. He worked at Beach Foundry in Ottawa, Steelcase Furniture in Don Mills and was the owner of a private enterprise, King Smallwares. As an alumnus of the Youth Group of St. James United Church in Ottawa, Don devoted a large part of his life to the service of others. He was an active member of St. James United Church in Ottawa, Birchmount United Church in Agincourt, Lemonville United Church and Zion United Church in Carnarvon. He was also a dedicated member of the Lions Clubs in Minden and Stouffville and a charter member of the Ballantrae Lions Club. As a cancer survivor of 1959, and an active community member everywhere he lived, he has left a legacy of perseverance in the face of adversity and service to others in each community in which he lived in the 84 years God gave him. A passionate builder, fixer and gardener, Don touched the lives of many, including the campers and staff at Camp Big Canoe and Camp Kirk. Memories abound from the cottage on Boshkung Lake he built and fostered as a gathering place for family and friends. In the past year and a half he met the challenges of A.L.S. with a sense of humour, courage and dignity. He leaves behind a legacy of a demonstrated ability to meet adversity with courage and gives credence to the adages of "live life to the fullest", and "give, and it will be given back". He will be missed. ACTON, John J. - Of Harriston and formerly of Toronto passed away peacefully at Stratford Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of the late Ethel (Gibson) Acton (2001). Loving father of Noreen and her husband Douglas Sockett of R.R.1, Palmerston. Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his sisters, Viola Dure and Margaret Westcott. Tohonour John's wishes, cremation has taken place. ACTON, Phyllis Joan (nee Corrigan) - It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Phyllis Acton, on Friday, August 26, 2005, at the age of 72. Born in Detroit, Michigan, November 12, 1932. Loving wife for 51 years of Richard J. Acton of Mississauga. Predeceased by her parents Doris and Earl Corrigan of Detroit, Michigan. Loving mother and cherished by her children Maribeth Martin of Barrie, Ontario, Kelly Acton (Renate) of Tarpon Springs, Florida and Alyson Praught (Chris) of Oakville, Ontario. Much loved and devoted grandmother to Jeffrey, Brittany, Penny, Maddy and Amy. Dear sister and sister-in-law to Sharon Hebert (Bill) of Windsor, Ontario, Jimmy Parker (Robyn) of Michigan and June and the late Ron St. Pierre of Windsor, Ontario. Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. After a lifetime of teaching us the nature of a warm and generous spirit, and unconditional love, the lessons continued to the end, where we learned about grace and dignity in the face of suffering. All are invited to celebrate her life at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy. 10 N. of QEW) on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 11 a.m. at St.Patrick's Church, 921 Flagship Dr., Mississauga (at Tomken).
