ABRAHAM, Roy "Stephen" - passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 18, 2006 at Toronto Grace Hospital in his 58th year. Beloved husband of Vivian Abraham. Loving father of Andrew and Elliot. Devoted son of Roy and Barbara Abraham and son-in-law of Andre and the late Velma Roi. Cherished brother of Robin Abraham (wife Susan and children Theo and Lola). Stephen will be sorely missed by all his friends around the world. Stephen lived a short but full life and he fought his illness with the same intensity and passion with which he lived his life. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, April 20th. Allan Lawrence Abrahams
Born the 6th of seven children on August 17th, 1924 in Willesden, London, England to parents Louis and Madeline Abrahams. Educated in Middlesex, Allan joined the Royal Air Force in 1941. During his four-year tenure he was initially stationed at Falcon Field in Mesa, Arizona where he graduated from Flight Training School and obtained his 'Wings'. Later returning to England, Allan was posted to RAF Bradwell Bay, Essex and finally RAF Spilsby, Lincolnshire. After WW II ended, Allan was transferred to Kirkham, Lancashire were he studied to become an accountant. married to Corporal Patricia Blythman of the WAAF on April 20th, 1946, Allan was then posted to RAF Cosham before being released in 1947. Allan and Patricia came to Canada in 1955 aboard the HM Saxonia. Taking up residence in Toronto, Allan first worked in the private sector before joining the Leaside Board of Education in 1960. Later Allan joined the East York Board of Education where as a business administrator he contributed 28 years service before retiring in 1988. While in retirement Allan joined the Etobicoke Board of Education for two years and later served as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for a Condominium Corporation. During the 70s and 80s Allan successfully bred and raced Thoroughbred horses in Ontario and throughout the USA. In recent years Allan and Patricia travelled to Europe and the Middle East while maintaining the family home in Etobicoke. Allan passed away quietly during the early hours of Monday, January 16th, 2006 at Toronto Western Hospital. He is survived by loving wife Patricia and only son Neil and daughter-in-law Alison, brother Gerald Abrahams and sister-in-law Anita, nieces Geraldine, Karen, Kim and Penny, and nephews Alan, David and Roger. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. The funeral will be held on Saturday, January 21 at 2 p.m. at the Bernardo Funeral Home, 855 Albion Road, Etobicoke, Ontario. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 20 between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
