John Alvin Conwell
After a courageous battle, at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008. John Alvin Conwell, of Midland, in his 37th year. Beloved son of Barbara Beaman and Conrad Conwell. Much loved brother of Kathy Parent and her husband Lucien. Cherished uncle to Denton, Sebastian, Sydney and Oren. John will be missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and by all who knew him. John showed strength and dignity to the end. The family will receive friends at the Carson Funeral Homes – JH Lynn Chapel, 290 First Street, Midland (705) 526-6551 on Friday, June 6th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Saturday, June 7th from 1-3 PM. Funeral Service will follow immediately in the chapel at 3 o`clock. If desired, in memoriam donations to the Royal Victoria Hospital Cancer Centre or to the Canadian AIDS Society would be appreciated by the family.

Debbie Cleaveley (Nee Readman)
Suddenly at Burk’s Falls, on Monday, June 2, 2008, at the age of 55. Debbie Cleaveley of R.R. #3, Orillia, beloved wife of Ralph Cleaveley. Loving mother of Doug & his wife Sherry of Orillia, Dave of Orillia, Nancy Cleaveley of Red Deer, Alberta and Darrell of Edmonton, Alberta. Loved grandmother of Tyler, Jordan, Brittany and Darren. Daughter of the late Russell & Margaret Readman. Dear sister of Mary-Lou Dunlop & husband Paul, Garry Readman & wife Linda and their families. The family will receive friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E. Orillia, (705) 326-3595, on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. and at St. Paul’s United Church, 62 Peter St. N., Orillia, on Friday June 6, 2008, from 11 A.M. until time of funeral service at 1 o’clock. Ervin Henry Jackson
Passed peacefully at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Monday May 26 in his 81st year. Ervin Jackson, of Orillia, beloved husband of Irene (Peggy). Loving father of Paul, Katherine (Greg) Bavington, Janice (Chris) Jackson-Pannell, and Matthew (Francis), his step-sons John, Daniel, and David Buckley. Dear grandfather of Trevor, Amy, Rebecca, Carrie, Phillip, Ryan, Jason, Michael, Colin, Jennifer, Ryan, Andrew, and Britannia; and great-grandchildren Clarice, Kayden, and Solace. Ervin will be missed by his brothers Terry (Phyllis) and George (Sheila). Private family cremation at Ervin’s’ request. Memorial service and interment at a later date. If desired memorial donations may be made to the Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation and would be appreciated by the family.

Frank Stastny
Passed peacefully at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Orillia on Monday May 26, 2008 in his 82nd year. Frank, loving husband to Marie for 54 years, will be sadly missed by his sons Peter (Lori) of Port Colbourne, and Frank of Keswick, by his grandchildren Ryan, Sean, Austin, Lindsay Kirkham, and Michael Kirkham, by his sister-in-law Sidonie Kessler, and by his cousin Ela Olejnikova of the Czech Republic. A memorial service will be held at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E. Orillia, (705) 326-3595, on Saturday May 31, 2008 at 1 o’clock. Reception to follow at the Carson Funeral Home – Old Rectory Reception Centre. If desired memorial donations may be made to the Soldiers Memorial Hospital Foundation and would be appreciated by the family.

Bessie Bernice Slessor (Nee Banbury)
Bessie Bernice Slessor (nee Banbury) in her 88th year, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour on Saturday May 24, 2008 at Leisureworld, Orillia with her family by her side. She reunites with her beloved husband, the late William Robert Slessor (1975) and daughter Linda Bernice (1978). Bessie is the loving mother of Lois Judd husband Cliff and Blair Slessor wife Sue all of Orillia. Cherished by her grandchildren Luanne (Donald) Hodgkinson, Shannon (Chris) Beelik, Erin (Matthew) Reid, Katelyn, Montanna and Dawson Slessor and her great-grandchildren Kyla, Taylor, Bailey, Jordyn, Jakob, Eden and Zion. She is survived by sisters, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, also Aunt Bessie will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E. Orillia, (705) 326-3595, on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and on Wednesday afternoon, May 28th at Bethel Baptist Church from 1 o’clock until time of service at 2 o’clock. Interment , St. Andrew’s – St. James’ cemetery. If desired, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society.

Gladys Irene McIntaggart (Nee Parker)
Peacefully at the Oak Terrace Nursing Home on Friday May 23, 2008 in her 85th year. Gladys (nee Parker) of Orillia, beloved wife of the late Hubert McIntaggart and the late Kenneth Farewell. Loved mother of Lynda Hutchinson and husband Terry and Douglas Farewell all of Orillia. Cherished grandmother of Sherri (Kevin) Gowanlock of Ramara, Chris, Jodi and Dale Farewell of Orillia and great grandmother of Josh and Jessica Gowanlock. Dear sister of Winston Parker and the late Ruby, Roland, and Thomas Parker. In keeping with Gladys’ wishes a private cremation is to take place. Arrangements entrusted to the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E. Orillia, (705) 326-3595. If desired donations in Gladys’ memory may be made to the Oak Terrace Nursing Home.

Shirley Ann St. Amand (Nee Cousineau)
passed away at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, on Monday, May 19th, 2008. Shirley St. Amand, of Toronto, in her 62nd year. Beloved wife of the late Brian St.Amand. Loving daughter of Angeline and the late Francis Cousineau. Dear mother of Karen St. Amand (Mike Gordon) and Michelle St. Amand (Kevin Wilcox). Cherished grandmother of Amanda and Kaitlyn and great grandmother of Tristen and Stevie. Shirley will be missed by her brothers; Michael, Frank, Harvey, Jerry and John, sisters; Kathy and Anna. Shirley is predeceased by her sons Richard and Francis. A graveside service of cremated remains will take place at St. John`s Catholic cemetery , Waubaushene, on Saturday June 21st at 10 o`clock. If desired, in memoriam donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Thomas Charles Baycroft
passed away unexpectedly, at the Huronia District Hospital, Midland, in his 94th year. Thomas Baycroft, formerly of Sudbury and retired to Midland, beloved husband of Marjorie. Dear father of Dr. Charles Baycroft of New Zealand and Caroline “Cari” Baycroft of Toronto. Loving grandfather of Joseph, Mary and Patricia and great grandfather of Gracie, Sunny and Noah. The family will receive friends at the Carson Funeral Homes – JH Lynn Chapel, 290 First Street, Midland (705) 526-6551 on Wednesday May 21st from noon until 2 PM. A Legion service will follow immediately at 2 o’clock. If desired in memoriam donations to Save the Children would be appreciated by the family.

Hicks, Barney Foster (Served with the Canadian Armed Forces for 27 years, Veteran of the Korean War, Worked at the Huronia Regional Centre for 19 years.) Passed on Thursday July 13, 2007 in his 86th year. Barney, loving husband of Marion, will be sadly missed by his children Brian (Jenny) Hicks, Marlene (Alan) Jones, Michael Hicks, Bill George, Brenda (Harvey) Cleaveley, and Judy (Eldon) MacIntyre. Barney will also be missed by his 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. McGinty, Catherine Josephine
passed away suddenly at the Huronia District Hospital, Midland, on Tuesday June 26, 2007 in her 73rd year. Catherine McGinty, of Midland, dear companion of Mel Moreau. Loving mother of Paul McGinty of Midland and Michael McGinty of Barrie. Dear grandmother of Catherine (Darren Smith), Colin (Ashley), Lee-Anne, and Sara; great grandmother of Nicholas, Devin and Morgan, Carter and Abigayle. Family and friends will be received at the Lynn Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 290 First Street Midland, (705) 526-6551, on Friday from 4 – 8 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated in the chapel on Saturday June 30, 2007 at 11 o’clock. Cremation to follow. Memorial Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Catherine will be remembered for her love of family, especially her grandchildren, and her fondness of gardening.

Father of Bernard Wilfred Kett, and grandfather to Leia, of B.C. Survived by sister in laws Verna & Etha, predeceased by brothers Howard and Ross. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives will be received by the family at the “Doolittle Chapel” of Carson Funeral Homes 54 Coldwater St. E. Orillia from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday July 13 2007. Loving grandmother of Sean, Rob, & Rick (Amy) Chapman, Tracy (Mike) Dalgleish, and Cindy Little, Keri & Chad Landriault, Rochelle (Les) Barker, Christine & Johnny Stovcick, Thomas & Heather Valentino, Gregory (Catherine) Grimshaw, Pamela & Don Bonnett, Karen (Jeremy) Martin, Shawna (Dwain Chasse) Landriault, and Luke & Stefani Landriault. Also loved by 20 great grandchildren. Survived by sister-in-law Mickey Skinner of Barrie and Georgette Landriault of Massey; predeceased by brother William Orville Skinner, and sister Juanita Wigle and her husband Bob Wigle. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. passed away peacefully at the Oak Terrace Nursing Home, Orillia, on Sunday July 8, 2007, in his 95th year. George Cook, beloved husband of the late Amelia Cook. Loving father of Sharon Cook & her partner Eric Blough of Washago, Donald Cook & his wife Judy of Orillia. Loving grandfather of Tami Lamb, Terri Payne & husband Tony, Michael Lamb & wife Lori, Michele Cook & partner Mack Rakowski. Great grandfather to Calie & Samantha Lamb and 10 step great grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by the Blough family and friend of 50 years Lou Brennan. Cremation has taken place. The family will received friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, on Thursday July 12, 2007 from 12 noon until time of Memorial Service in the chapel at 1 o’clock.
