Willy is survived by her husband David, her sister Edie Van Brakel, her children Chris Bohme and Liz Matthews (Chris), her grandchildren, Braden and Jennifer Bohme, and Emily, Katie and Jack Matthews, and by her family in Holland. Predeceased by her brother Henkie. Willy was born in Indonesia and grew up in Wassenaar, Holland. As a stewardess for KLM in the 1950s, Willy travelled the world and made many life-long friends. Fortunately for us, she met David at Chantecler, Quebec, during a stopover in 1957. They were married the same year. Willy then embarked on a new life in Toronto and Orillia, injecting her vibrant spirit and Dutch sensibilities in all her activities. Willy was a loving and devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Her sense of humour, tenderness, and wisdom will be sorely missed. Willy is now free from the debilitating effects of two strokes, which she endured for many years with remarkable faith, stoicism and good spirits. We hope that now she can again show that “in Holland, we dance!”. A celebration of Willy’s life will be held at St. James’ Anglican Church, 58 Peter St. North, Orillia at 11am on Saturday, November 14, 2009. Willy and her family will always be grateful for the wonderful care she received from Dr. Josiah Lowry and from the ‘angels’ of the Oro-Medonte wing at Trillium Manor.
