Jose Ramon Begona

BEGONA, Jose Ramon - In loving memory of Jose Ramon Begona, 81 years, who passed away on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. Beloved husband of Aura (Cubillo) Begona of Sudbury. Loving father of Maria and Paula both of Sudbury. Predeceased by parents Andres and Eugenia Begona, and brother Manolo and Teresa. Sadly missed by good friends Manuel and Gloria Arango, Pablo and Cecilia Cano, and life long friend Francisco Antolin and uncle to Conchita Tudela. Born in Burgos, Spain, he graduated from the University of Salamanca in Spain. Jose was a life long educator, serving as a professor in the Modern Language Department at Laurentian University for 35 years. He was a pioneer for the Spanish people in Canada, the former principal of the Spanish School and an active member of the Hispanic Association. Funeral prayers were held in the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. Thursday, June 18th, 2009 at 8 pm. (Friends gathered 7 pm to 9 pm Thursday). Thence to a funeral in Madrid, Spain. Donations to the HBC Literacy Association of Canada would be appreciated.

Jeanne Arbour

ARBOUR, Jeanne - With her family by her side at the Port Colborne General Hospital on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 in her 91st her. Beloved wife of the late Martial (1990). Loving and devoted mother of Germaine Beauparlant, Florence Tremblay, Armand (Liette), Simone Vegh (Larry), Leonard, Maurice (Abby), Michel (Karen), Francoise Wood (Al), Christine George (Andrew) and Yvon (Helene). She will be missed by her 39 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, and son-in-law Andre Tremblay. She is survived by her sister Marie Janzen. She is predeceased by her daughter Henriette and son Fernand. Jeanne was a member of the Dame Chretienne, the choir at Immaculee Conception and Club LaSalle. Mrs. Arbour is at the NIAGARA ST. CHAPEL of BUTLER FUNERAL HOME, 424 Niagara St. (south of Scott) where the family will receive friends on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be celebrated at the funeral home on Sunday at 8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Eglise Immaculee Conception, 99 Garnet St. on Monday, June 22, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Rite of Committal will take place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

James Elwood “Jim“ Petty

PETTY, James Elwood “Jim“ - With great dignity, at Kelso Pines Retirement Lodge in Owen Sound on Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Jim Petty, much loved husband of the late Ida. Dear father to Jill and her husband Rodney Rodger, Joanne and her husband Brian Green all of Owen Sound and Tony and his best friend Audry of Geraldton. Poppa will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Kristi and Jeff, Terri and Mike, Andrea and Cam, Lynn, Philip, Adam and Al and his great grandchildren Shailyn, Brynna, Tanner, Jackson and Niki. Also missed by his nieces and nephews, especially Jack. Jim was predeceased by his two brothers Ed and Bert. Jim was a veteran of WW II and a proud charter member of the Owen Sound Lions Club. A memorial service will be conducted at St. Thomas Anglican Church, Owen Sound on Friday June 26, at 2 o'clock with Rev. Claire Miller officiating. Interment, Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Lions Foundation of Canada “Guide Dogs“ or St. Thomas Anglican Church would be appreciated.

Kathleen (Kay) McParland

McPARLAND, Kathleen (Kay) - It is with great sadness that we announce our mother's passing at St. Joseph's Health Center, Guelph, Ontario on June16, 2009 at the age of 89. Kay was born in Mattawa, Ontario, August, 21, 1919, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Brownschlaigle. On November 7, 1938 she married Harold McParland and moved to North Bay in 1949. She attended the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption and was a member of the CWL and funeral choir. In 1995 she moved to Guelph, Ontario to be closer to her children. Kay was predeceased by her husband Harold, her sister Evelyn and her brother Edwin. She will be cherished forever by her children Wayne McParland and wife Heather of Komoka, Ontario and Lynn Lafrance and husband Tom of Guelph. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Rod McParland and wife Rita, Tara McParland and husband Matt Jones, Courtney Capovilla and husband Brian, and Kurt Lafrance and wife Krista. She was the proud and loving great-grandmother of Hannah and Avaleen McParland-Jones and Mayah Capovilla. She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Our mom, affectionately known as Momma Kay or Nana, will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and compassion. Those who knew her well will remember her warm heart and her love of family. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption, North Bay, Ontario on June 23, 2009 at 10 a.m. A “Celebration of Life“ for Momma Kay/Nana will be held at St. Joseph's Health Centre at 100 Westmount Road in Guelph, Ontario on Tuesday, June 30, at 10:30 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the CNIB would be appreciated by the family (Cards are available at GILBERT MacINTYRE AND SON FUNERAL HOME, HART CHAPEL

Catherine Wendy (Lester) Wilson

WILSON, Catherine Wendy (Lester) - Peacefully passed away at home with her husband at her side on June 5, 2009. Beloved wife of Peter Wilson, sadly missed by son Daniel Wilson and his wife Morgan. She also leaves behind and will be sadly missed by Aunts and Uncles, Barbara (Fern) Huot of Kemptville On., Patricia (Dick) Lusignan of Aylmer QC. Bernice (Denis) Trudel of Rigaud QC., and Robert (Sue) Holt of St. Eugene On., several nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers- in-law and especially her cousin Linda who was like a sister to her. She was predeceased by her Mother Irene F (Lester) Cochrane 2007, Father John Lester, step- father George E. Cochrane 2005 and by her aunt Sharon Holt. In keeping with Cathy's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the Christ Church, Cataraqui Chapel Sydenham Road Kingston Ontario, Saturday June 27, 2009 at 2:00pm. LINDSAY, Marion (Mayme) (nee Martin) - Retired RNA-Brockville General Emergency 1969-1990. Peacefully surrounded by her family and friends at the Brockville General Hospital Garden St. Site on June 17th, 2009 at the age of 83. Beloved wife of the late Roy Lindsay. Dear Mother of Cheryl Smith (John) of Elgin and Bonnie Studer (Bruno) of Switzerland. Grandmother of Darren Smith (Diane) of Kingston, Sheri Jenner (Troy) of Guelph and Ryan Studer of Switzerland. Great grandmother of Jason and Abby Smith, Katie and Rian Jenner. Friends may call at the MACKAY FUNERAL HOME 416 Dibble St., West Prescott from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Monday June 22nd with funeral service in the Prescott Chapel on Tuesday June 23rd, 2009 at 11am. William “Bill“ Leach

LEACH, William “Bill“ - Retired from FalconBridge Nickel Mines - Peacefully at the Kingston General Hospital after a brief illness with his family by his side on June 16, 2009 in his 71st year. Predeceased by his loving wife Jean Leach (November 23rd, 2008) of 43 years. Loving father to Patrick Leach (Janet) of Sydenham. Survived by sisters Eileen Vaughn of Ottawa, and Betty Hussey of Toronto. Predeceased by his parents George and Alice Leach (nee Airth) and siblings Florence Campbell, Olive Henderson, Isobel Hudson, Doris Gauthier, George Leach and Charles Leach. Bill will be sadly missed by his brother-in-law Wayne McCallum (Jean) of Sydenham and several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Bill's wish a private memorial service will be held at TROUSDALE FUNERAL HOME in Sydenham with interment to follow in Sydenham Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) Cancer Clinic in memory of Bill.
