It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Ida Berlingieri on Sunday May 24, 2009, in her 83rd year. Beloved spouse of the late Domenico and devoted mother of Michael (Rina) and Aldo (Mary). Proud grandmother of Diana (Lorenzo), John-Paul, Robert and Daniella and great-grandmother of John-Michael and Juliana. Will be sadly missed by her loved sister, Maria and dedicated brother-in-law Pasquale Aloe, with whom she shared a home, and by close sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Stanislao Berlingieri and Agata and Mario Berlingieri. Ida was loved and respected by her many nieces and nephews in the greater Hamilton area and in Donnici, Italy and, she cherished their many visits. Ida is survived in Italy by brother Francesco Filice and sister Angelina Grimaldi and predeceased by brothers Santo, Antonio and Giovanni, and by sisters Giuseppina and Teresina. She is predeceased in Canada by sisters-in-law Virginia (the late Antonio) Filice and Angelina (the late Santo) Perrelli. Ida will always be remembered for her gentle manner, kindness, and selflessness. She had unconditional love for her family and always put the interests and happiness of her family above her own. Ida went out of her way to make all new members of the family feel loved and welcome. Ida loved spending time with her family and looked forward to her regular briscola games with Maria, Agata and Barbara and when Tom, Ada or Lidia would fill in.
