Joao Amaral
July 25, 1949 - May 15, 2009

passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 15, 2009, in his 60th year. Beloved husband of Maria for 40 years. Loving father to Paulo (Dalia), Lidia and Angela. Adoring grandfather of Stephanie, Ashley, Melissa, Amber, Kerry, Megan and Janessa. Joao is predeceased by his parents Jose and Altina, as well as his brother Manuel. He will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters, Natalia, Samaritana, Suzzana, Carlos and Fernanda as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers. Joao took great pride in his work as a stone masoner with Aldershot Landscaping. Many thanks to Dr. Heller and the Staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre for their care. Visitation will take place at the FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E. (near James) on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be offered at Incarnation of Our Blessed Lord Parish on Wednesday at 9 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. Donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated.

John "Jean-Marie" Caron
September 08, 1944 - May 16, 2009

passed away at the Hamilton General Hospital on May 16, 2009. Beloved husband of Heather and loving father of Sylvain, Nathalie, Eric, Patrick, Régis, Thierry, Dirk, Elliott, Quentin and Shelby. He will be dearly missed by his 7 grandchildren. Visitation will take place at the FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E., (near James) on Friday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Funeral Service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Adelmo Paron
February 26, 1922 - May 05, 2009

After a courageous battle with Lymphoma/Leukemia, it is with deep sadness we announce the passing of a beloved father, grandfather and brother on May 5, 2009, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Kathleen, loving and devoted father to Gary (Lynn) and David (Linda), grandfather to Ian and Cheryl, brother to Lawrence and Poldina. Predeceased by brother Louis. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Irwin Walker and the many nurses and doctors at McMaster Ward 3Z as well as Chris, Dr. Hattersley and the many nurses and caregivers at St. Peter's for their compassionate and excellent care. Cremation has already taken place. Friends and family will be received for a Memorial Mass at the Cathedral of Christ The King, Hamilton, on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception at the church hall. A private family interment will take place afterwards. Funeral arrangements entrusted to FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 905-522-0912. In lieu of flowers, donations to McMaster Ward 3Z or St. Peter's would be greatly appreciated. Joe had two passions in his life: first was his family and second was 50 years of bowling at the Skyway Lanes. He will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him. “A True Gentleman”

Giovannina Scardamaglia (née Cristiano)
January 26, 1915 - May 13, 2009

Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Antonio (1980). Treasured mother of Joe and Diane Scardamaglia, Anna and the late Pasquale Mercuri, Antonietta and Achille Puglia. Devoted Nonna of eight grandchildren. Adoring Bisnonna of eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Vincenzo of Italy and Giuseppe of Australia. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews in Italy, Australia, U.S.A. and Canada. Special thank you to Dr. Scime for the great care and support he provided and the wonderful people at the Arbour Creek Long Term Care Centre who were so helpful and compassionate. Visitation at the FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James) on Thursday from 2-9 p.m. The Vigil Prayers will be on Thursday at 8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at Incarnation of Our Blessed Lord (corner of Barton and Nash) on Friday at 9 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Tonino "Tony" Palombella
December 23, 1919 - May 20, 2009

Peacefully, in his 90th year, surrounded by God's radiance and the love and faith of his family, Tony completed his journey on this earth on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. His unconditional love and strength will be forever cherished by his supportive wife Issaia. His life lessons, perseverance and work ethic will continue to be carried on by his devoted children Carman and Marg and Marianne and Claudio. Nonno's profound love and pride of his grandchildren will forever remain in the hearts' of Leighanne, Tyler, Andrew, Danielle and Nicole. Dear brother of Lina, and the late Osvaldo Stornelli and brother-in-law of Gabriele and Sylvia Pacifici, Agostino and Antonietta Pacifici and Fulvia and the late Amleto Salciccioli. Special thanks to the staff of Hawthorne House at Arbour Creek L.T.C. and the Henderson Hospital. Ida Berlingieri (née Filice)
March 14, 1927 - May 24, 2009

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Ida Berlingieri on Sunday May 24, 2009, in her 83rd year. Beloved spouse of the late Domenico and devoted mother of Michael (Rina) and Aldo (Mary). Proud grandmother of Diana (Lorenzo), John-Paul, Robert and Daniella and great-grandmother of John-Michael and Juliana. Will be sadly missed by her loved sister, Maria and dedicated brother-in-law Pasquale Aloe, with whom she shared a home, and by close sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Stanislao Berlingieri and Agata and Mario Berlingieri. Ida was loved and respected by her many nieces and nephews in the greater Hamilton area and in Donnici, Italy and, she cherished their many visits. Ida is survived in Italy by brother Francesco Filice and sister Angelina Grimaldi and predeceased by brothers Santo, Antonio and Giovanni, and by sisters Giuseppina and Teresina. She is predeceased in Canada by sisters-in-law Virginia (the late Antonio) Filice and Angelina (the late Santo) Perrelli. Ida will always be remembered for her gentle manner, kindness, and selflessness. She had unconditional love for her family and always put the interests and happiness of her family above her own. Ida went out of her way to make all new members of the family feel loved and welcome. Ida loved spending time with her family and looked forward to her regular briscola games with Maria, Agata and Barbara and when Tom, Ada or Lidia would fill in. Visitation at the Friscolanti Funeral Chapel, 43 Barton Street East on Monday from 6-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with Vigil prayers on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at All Souls Church, 21 Barton Street West on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Maria Cristina Papalia (née Barresi)
July 03, 1913 - April 22, 2009

passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 22, 2009 at The Wellington in her 96th year. Loving mother of Fortunato (Carmela) and adoring Nonna to Claudia and Nicholas. Cristina will be sadly missed by her dearest friend Antonia Frisina as well as many nieces, nephews and friends in Canada, Italy, Australia and France. She joins her loving husband the late Arcangelo and her late sister Teresina and late brothers Frank and Antonio. A heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of The Wellington for the love and care you gave our mother and grandmother. Visitation will take place at the FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E. Linda Ciaglia (née Prosia)
December 17, 1947 - April 21, 2009

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Linda Ciaglia, Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at age 61. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 42 years Orante Ciaglia. Loving and devoted mother of Mark (Nadia), Viano (Maria), Robert (Katie). Cherished daughter of Grazia and the late Domenico Prosia. Daughter-in-law to the late Ottaviano and Maria Ciaglia. Dear sister of Amelia, Claudia (late Peter Ewaskiw) and Tony (Kim) Prosia. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Amber, Samantha, Nicholas, Olivia, Julia and Luca. Also survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews and nieces. Family will receive friends at the FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James) on Wednesday, April 22, 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, April 23, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Vigil Prayers Thursday at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, April 24, 2009 at All Souls Church at 10 a.m. Entombment at Bayview Mausoleum.
