September 24, 1927 - April 22, 2009

VALERIO, Paolo Surrounded by his loving family, at the Hamilton General Hospital on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of the late Norma (nee Caravaggio, 1994). Dear father and father-in-law of Saverio and Mary-Jo, Lorenzo and Eileen, Daniel and Heather. Adoring Nonno of Paolo and Nicholas, Serena and Christina, Caitlyn and Grace. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Francesco and Mafalda, Giuseppe and Francesca, Rosaria, and the late Sofia and Guido, the late Carmella and Giuseppe, Giovannina and Leone, Teresa and Francesco, Rosina and Antonio, Claudina and the late Angelo DiBattista, Mafalda and the late Antonio Caravaggio, Giuseppe and Rosita Caravaggio. Paolo will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in Canada, U.S.A. and Italy. Paolo immigrated to Canada in 1961 and founded Valerio Construction and was a member of the Hamilton Home Builders Association, Knights of Columbus and Sons of Italy. A special thank you to the C.C.U. staff at the Hamilton General Hospital. Donations in Paolo's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. February 26, 1922 - May 05, 2009

After a courageous battle with lymphoma/Leukemia, it is with deep sadness we announce the passing of a beloved father, grandfather and brother on May 5, 2009 in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Kathleen, loving and devoted father to Gary (Lynn) and David (Linda), grandfather to Ian and Cheryl, brother to Lawrence and Poldina. Predeceased by brother Louis. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Irwin Walker and the many nurses and doctors at McMaster Ward 3Z as well as Chris, Dr. Hattersley and the many nurses and caregivers at St. Peter's for their compassionate and excellent care. Cremation has already taken place. Friends and family will be received for a Memorial Mass at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Hamilton, on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception at the church haIl. A private family interment wiIl take place afterwards. Funeral arrangements entrusted to FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 905-522-0912. In lieu of flowers, donations to McMaster Ward 3Z or St. Peter's would be greatly appreciated. Joe had two passions in his life: first was his family and second was 50 years of bowling at the Skyway Lanes. He will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him. “A True Gentleman”.

Josephine "Jo" Celia Dixon (née Bevan)
July 06, 1941 - May 26, 2009

Peacefully in her sleep at St. Joseph's Hospital, On May 26, 2009, now to forever be with her son, Sean. Beloved wife of Harry for 44 years. Loving mother to Jeff and Julie, and Liam and Cristina. Cherished grandmother of David, Carl, Curtis and Baby Tessa. She will be greatly missed by her sisters Sandra, Carol and Geraldine all of Gloucester, England, her nieces and nephews from England and Scotland, and her friends who will remember her fondly. Special thanks to Dr. Arlend and the staff at St. Joseph's Dialysis Unit for all their care and compassion. She was happy to have been able to meet her new granddaughter Tessa, even though it was for such a short time. A celebration of life at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James), on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. Inurnment to follow at White Chapel Cemetery. Donations to the Diabetes Association will be appreciated by the family.

May 24, 1937 - May 03, 2009

With profound sadness we announce the passing of an extraordinary man. Peacefully on May 3, 2009 at the Hamilton General Hospital, at the age of 71, his family by his side. Beloved husband of Virginia (nee Maklo) for 47 years. Deeply loved father of Louise-Ann (David) Caravaggio. Adoring grandfather (Papa) of his precious jewels, Victoria, Olivia and Julia. Loving brother of Giuseppina (Giuseppe) Zenere of Valdagno, Vicenza, Italy. Cherished son-in-law of Louise Maklo. Loved brother-in-law of Jeanette Maklo and Giuseppe Dalla Valle (Italy). Survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Anna and Paolo, brother Sergio (Maria) and sister Albina. Roger was a professional soccer player, employee of the International Harvester and a retired employee of Camco Inc. after 35 years. Parishioner of Canadian Martyrs' Church for 50 years. He was a fundraiser for Canadian Martyrs' School and Church and Notre Dame Academy for several years. Roger enjoyed his Italian soccer, Detroit Red Wings and the Hamilton Tiger Cats. He will be remembered for his wit, humour, love of life, dancing, gardening, cooking, generosity and compassion. Thanks to Bishop Bergie, Father Sardo, Father Tuyen Nguyen, Canadian Martyrs' Prayer Network, CWL, Dr. Kane-Corriveau, Jeanette Maklo, Nick Caravaggio, all the Caravaggio family and many family, friends, neighbours and co-workers for their kindnesses. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Martyrs' Building Fund would be appreciated by the family. Manuel Botelho
November 04, 1934 - May 08, 2009

It is with great sadness the family of Manuel announces his passing after a long fought battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease on Friday, May 8, 2009 at the age of 74. Manuel will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years Rosa and his children, Esau (Fatima), and Manuel (Cathie), his grandchildren; Matthew, Christopher, Eric and Alexa. He will be sadly missed by his family in Hamilton, S. Miguel, Portugal and New Bedford, Mass. Manuel took pride in building "the best" of whatever he was building, be it sidewalks or his grandson's sandbox. The family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at Arbour Creek Village. With her family by her side at Henderson Hospital in her 81st year on May 11, 2009 after a valiant fight. Dear Mother of Charles (Janet), Nettie (Nick) Giancaspro, Gregory and Mario. Loving daughter of the late Gregorio and Maria (nee Zaffuto) Ricca. Predeceased by: her late husband Raffaele (1980); her sister and best friend Anna (2002) and Anna’s husband Diego (1996) Rallo; her sister Italia Romana; her brothers Emanuele and Roberto. Beloved sister of Cav. Guido (Ruth) Ricca. Beloved sister-in-law of Angela Ricca (Brooklyn NY). Survived by nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation at the Friscolanti Funeral Chapel, 43 Barton Street East on Tuesday 7 – 9 p.m. and Wednesday 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be held Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at All Souls Church (Barton Street West) on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. with entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Peacefully, with her family at her side, at the Henderson General Hospital on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, Ida De Angelis (nee Moroni) passed away, in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Giulio De Angelis. Dearly loved mother of Alberto and mother to Rita and Gerry Sinopoli. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Lina and Peter Firmani, Emy and the late Alfio Moroni, all of Cambridge, the late Elio and Flora Moroni, the late Mario Moroni and his wife Assunta, the late Gino and his wife, all of Italy. Dear sister-in-law of Edio and Chiara De Angelis, Elida and Bartolino, Lucia and the late Alfio De Angelis, all of Italy. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Rombeiro Anna (née D'Alesio)
June 20, 1968 - April 02, 2009

After a courageous battle with cancer, in her 41st year, Anna passed away peacefully at Henderson General Hospital on April 2, 2009, with her family and friends at her side. She was the beloved wife of Peter, and loving and dedicated mother to Rebecca and Vanessa. Cherished daughter of Margherita and the late Donato D’Alesio. Loving daughter-in-law of Alvaro and the late Maria Rombeiro. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Bridget, Guy and Lorraine, Roy and Fatima. A wonderful aunt to Katrina, Michael, Daniel, Christopher, Lucas, Nicholas and Victoria. Dearest friend of Irene Bateman and family. She will fondly be remembered and truly missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins here, and those in Italy. Anna was an employee of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board.Thanks to Dr. Ellis and Sally at the Jurvanski Cancer Centre, the workers from Bayshore Home Health, and the many volunteers from V.O.N. for their constant support to Anna and her family.
