Francesca Mongiardi (née Cortese)
October 22, 1919 - January 17, 2009

passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 17th 2009. Pre-deceased by her husband Nicodemo. Dearly loved mother of Elio and his wife Angela, Mary and her husband John Balen. Cherished Nonna of Christopher and his wife Deanna, Alicia and her husband Micheal, Jennifer and Amanda. Proud great-grandmother of Makayla, Jacob and “baby girl Mongiardi”. Francesca will be fondly remember and sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Her cheerfulness, laughter and zeal for life will be forever in our hearts. Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick’s Church or St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation. Resting at Friscolanti Funeral Home 43 Barton St. E Hamilton, on Monday, January 19th, 2009 from 4pm to 9pm. Vigil Prayers on Monday at 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church 440 King St. E. Hamilton, on Tuesday January 20th 2009 at 11:15am. Entombment to follow to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Joseph Richard Guarascia
April 02, 1946 - January 16, 2009

Born April 2, 1946 Died peacefully at home on January 16, 2009 at the age of 62. Beloved husband of Marj. Much loved dad of "BESTEST" daughter Sandi Duguay (Len), Richard Guarascia, Phil Poirier (Andrea), Sammy Guarascia and Michael Guarascia (Jaime). Fun loving Papa of Dwayne, Richie, Jake, Andrew, James, Ryan and Sophia. Proud great-grandfather of JaLeo and Kaliyah. Survived by sisters Joanne, Diane, Jodi and brother Stevie. Lumpy was a 31 year employee off Bull Moose Tube. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Resting at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James) on Monday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow.

Filomena Fidalgo
February 13, 1936 - January 12, 2009

Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family, at the Hamilton General Hospital on January 12, 2009, in her 73rd year. Beloved wife of Antonio for 50 years. Dearest mother of Helena and Joao Pinto, Maria and Luis Fidalgo, Manuel and Rosalia Fidalgo. Adoring Vavo of Daniel, Cristina, John and Anthony. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Jose and Angelina Medeiros, Manuel and the late Lurdes Fidalgo, Teresa and the late Joao Arruda, Jose and Maria-Emelia Fidalgo, Maria-Jose and Jose Raposo, Maria-Helena and Joao Silva, Francisco and Rosalinda Fidalgo. Filomena will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Special thank you to the doctors and staff at the Hamilton General Hospital for their care and compassion. Krikor (George) Dermanoulian
September 19, 1944 - January 09, 2009

Tragically taken away from us on Friday, January 9, 2009, in his 65th year. Loving husband of Maro (Manoukian). Adored father to five children: Dikran, Armenouhi (Aremin Hacobian), Talin, Ani and Lucie. Dear brother to Sahag, Marie (Solomon Touratzikian), Mesrob (Haigoush), Anna (Stamati Spanos). Beloved brother-in-law to Hagop and Judy, Manouk and Jeanette, Armenag and Natalie, Ara and Barbara Manoukian. Cherished Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Krikor was born in Athens, Greece on September 19, 1944. Predeceased by his parents Dikran and Lucia. To all who knew him, Krikor was an integral part of the Armenian Community. While he was a Dreamer, a Philosopher, and a Conversationalist, his work ethic and dedication was unparalleled. The word "no" simply did not exist in his vocabulary. His skill and passion as a carpet installer lives on in those with whom he worked and mentored. Every person who ever met Krikor walked away with an appreciation for life, a smile and a joke. Visitation at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James) on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday 12-2 p.m. Prayers Tuesday at 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be conducted at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 2 p.m. Interment at Eastlawn Cemetery. "A beautiful life that came to an end, he died as he lived, everyone's friend. In our hearts a memory will always be kept of one we love and will never forget."

Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at St. Peter's Residence at Chedoke, on Monday, January 5, 2009, at the age of 87. Beloved husband of 62 years to Michelina. Loving father of Pat and his wife Carol, Vince and his wife Kathy, Tony and his wife Debbie, and Mary. "Nonno" will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Sal, Jennifer, Sam, Vince, Tom, Michelle, Stephanie, Paul, and Gary. Dear brother and brother-in-law of the late Mike Fazzari and his wife Rina, Annunziata and the late Rocco Fazari, the late Mario and the late Angelina Fazzari, the late Teresina, and the late Giacomina. Will be sadly missed by numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of St. Peter's at Chedoke for the care and compassion shown to Sam and his family. passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on January 2, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital, in his 93rd year. Loving husband of Teresa (Filice) of 67 years. Dear father of Frank and Natalie, John and Diane and the late Anna Maria. Cherished Nonno of Theresa Almonte, Linda and Robert Quaglia, Paul, Jaclyn and Robbie Nelson. Adored great-grandfather of Victor, Cassandra, Alyssa and Christian. Missed by his brothers Antonio and Emilia Spadafora of Hamilton, Giuseppe and the late Carmela Spadafora of Argentina. Also survived by his sisters-in-law Concetta and the late Carmine of Hamilton, and Pasqualina and the late Giovanni of Italy. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Vincenzo, Francesco, Rosina and Maria. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada, Italy, Argentina and the U.S. Santo was a long time member of the Donnici Social Club. Special thank you to the staff at Villa Italia and the Doctors and Nurses of the Critical Teaching Unit, 4th floor at St. Joseph's Hospital. Visitation will take place at the FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near John), on Monday January 5th from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Vigil prayers at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be offered at Corpus Christi Church, 1694 Upper James St. on Tuesday January 6th at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Bayview Cemetery. November 17, 1912 - December 28, 2008

JULIAN, Anthony (Tony) Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at McMaster Hospital on December 28, 2008, at the age of 96. Beloved husband of the late Florence. Dear father of Roseanna and Tony Lavia, Donna and Dan Begin, Jim and Denise. Special Nonno of Chris and Heather, Laura, Patrick, Tim and Julie, Michael, Dana, Max, Monica and great-grandfather of Justin, Matthew, Luca and Jessica. Tony will be sadly missed by his sisters Mary and Anne. He was a founding member and long time parishioner of St. Anthony's Church. Special thanks to his cousin Caterina Rotella and to the staff at McMaster Hospital CCU for all their care and compassion. Resting at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James) on Thursday, January 1st, from 6-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Vigil prayers on Friday at 3 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Church on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
