Mike Van Lankveld
Mr. Michael John Van Lankveld, 72, of 428 Devon Street, Stratford passed away suddenly at the Stratford General Hospital on Friday, October 25, 2002. He was born in Boekel, N. BR., Holland, son of the late Adriannes and Carolien Van Lankveld and came to Canada to Uxbridge, Ontario in July of 1951. In 1955 he married Ann (Kraan) and they lived in Lindsay and Waterloo, coming to the Stratford area in 1973. Mike and Ann farmed at RR #5 Stratford until his retiring and moving to Stratford in 1994. He was a member of St. Joseph s Roman Catholic Church, was an avid hockey fan and a horse enthusiast. Beloved husband of Ann (Kraan). Loving father and grandfather of Ed and Pat Lankveld, Kitchener and their children Zachary and Alicia; Winnie and Dave Linton, Mitchell and their children Kelly, Kirk and Pam; Brian and Rita Van Lankveld; Caroline and Mark Flood, Stratford and their son Jimmy; Cathy and Bill Hazen, Wartburg and children Billy and Trina. Dear brother of Cor Van Lankveld and Tonia Van den Berg, both of Holland. Lovingly remembered by the Kraan family and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by 5 brothers, 4 sisters and by his mother-in-law and father-in-law Wilhelmina and Art Kraan. Family will receive friends at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Sunday, October 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph s Roman Catholic Church, Stratford on Monday at 11 a.m. Father Ross Bartley will officiate. Burial in Avondale cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Missions Committee of St. Joseph s Roman Catholic Church through the funeral home. W.G. Elsie Milburn
Mrs. Elsie May Milburn, age 84, a resident of People Care Centre, Tavistock and formerly of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2002. She was born in Stratford, daughter of the late George Wiles and the former Alice Webb. She has lived most of her life in Stratford. Beloved wife of the late George Milburn who predeceased her in 1987. Loving mother of George Milburn Jr. of Stratford, Marilyn Buck of Stratford and Marina Adair and husband Robert of Dorchester. Dear grandmother of nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Also survived by her sister Edith Stoddart of London. Besides her parents and husband she was pre-deceased by her son Dennis Grant Milburn, sister Marion Wimbush-Cairns, Grace Langdon, Helen Webster, Ruby Murdock,by a brother Raymond and by great grandchildren Heather Rae Charrington and Dalton James Bannon. Family will receive friends at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Sunday from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. Phillip Hilcox will officiate. Interment in Woodland cemetery. Richard J. (Rick) Matthews suddenly on Sunday, October 5, 2003 in his 63rd year. Dear spouse of Mary Hoffman, beloved brother-in-law of Joanne and Steve Hoffman, Ron Pansino, Judy MacRae, son of Flo, brother Bill, sisters Dawn Murphy (Alan), Bev Reasbeck (Tom), Janet Publow (Brian) and many nieces and nephews. Friends may attend a memorial service at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 11 a.m. Donations gratefully appreciated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Alzheimer Society.

William Bill B. Bill Schurink
William Bill B. Bill Schurink passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on Thursday, April 12, 2001 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Holland, February 14, 1934. He came to Canada in 1953. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Margaret P. Schurink (nee Becker) of Cambrocourt Manor, Embro. Survived by four daughters and their families; Lynn Morrison and her husband Hilton, of Embro, Janeen Rich and her husband Brian, Wanda Brown and her husband Norman and Sandra Schurink all of Stratford. Loved grandfather of Billie-Jo Schurink of Stratford, Jennifer Morrison and her fianc Shane Brett of Woodstock, Dale Morrison of Embro, Katrina Rich, Jacqueline and Sarah Brown all of Stratford and great grandfather of Curtis Schurink of Stratford. Bill is also survived by three brothers and five sisters and their families here and three sisters and their families in Holland, also survived by five sisters in law and two brothers in law. Bill was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #495, Beachville. Friends may call at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave, Woodstock, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where the complete service will be held in the chapel on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Captain Phillip Birt officiating. Daughter of the late Findlay Smart and the former Kathleen Johnston passed away at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener on Thursday, December 27, 2001 in her 78th year. Surviving is her family Wayne Tabor and friend Judy, Linda and Wilfred Klaehn, Wilma and Charles Straeten, all of Kitchener, Bonnie and Eric D Hondt of Wilsonville, Tom and Nancy Tabor of Clinton, Elizabeth and Larry Luening of Cambridge, 18 grandchildren, 17 greatgrandchildren, a faithful companion Buttons; sisters Eileen and husband George Taylor of Sebringville, Kay Coleman of St. Marys and a sister-in-law Mona Lucas; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Clayton Lorne (1988), a son Larry (1998), a son Richard and a daughter Sandra in infancy, brothers Fred and Ernie, greatgrandson Aaron (1992), a sister Margaret Kelso (1975), in-laws Lorne and Sarah Tabor, sister and brother-in-law Myrtle and Harold Bradford and step-mother Janet Smart.
