BREED, Elizabeth 'Betty'
Thursday, February 01, 2007
Those who we love go out of sight but never out of mind. Still cherished in the lonely hearts of those they've left behind. Beloved wife and sparring partner of John for 56 1/2 years. Mother of Liz (Carl), Chris (Stephanie), Tina (Ed) and Laurie (Jan). Grandmother of Christopher, Tim, Cory and Ryan. Sister of Irene and Jack. Sister-in-law of Bob, Bett and Jo. Aunt of Shirley, Stephen, Gloria, Donna and many nieces and nephews in the U.K. Betty was born in Falkirk, Scotland on July 27, 1923. She served in the Women's Auxillary Air Force and in the Women's Land Army. In February of 1951, Betty came to Sault Ste. Marie with her husband John. Over the years, Betty was involved with the local Humane Society and the welfare of all animals, a cause which was dear to her heart. She was a familiar sight at Fort Creek walking with her dogs. Betty always made time for those less fortunate than herself and touched more people than she will ever know. She loved to sing and dance and she always saw the beauty in simple things like sunsets, wildflowers and walking on the beach. She was an original. She was a free spirit. She was a friend to all creatures great and small. Many thanks to Dr. Cziffer, Dr. Ianni, Dr. Buehner, the nursing staff on 200Y at the General Hospital and the ComCare nurses that made it possible for her to come home to be with her family.
Death sometimes comes to let us know
We love more dearly than we show
But love in death shall let us see
What love in life should always be.

Betty would appreciate donations to the Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, 1116 Crawford St., Rousseau, ON P0C 1J0 or the Animal Assistance Group, 28 Elmwood Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie, ON P6B 4V6. Please join us for a come and go celebration of her spirit on Saturday, February 10th at 69 Grandview Avenue from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758).
