On Thursday, August 21, 2008, my soul mate Kirk Bryden left this earth at the time that was chosen for him. He was the love of my life. I, Sue Bryden will be eternally blessed because of the man he was. Kirk was a loving step-father to Brandon and Dustin McCulloch and brother-in-law to Bill McCulloch. Eldon and Shirley Bryden from Portland, Ontario are Kirk's cherished and beloved parents. Kim Gomes, Kirk's sister was dearly loved by him. He leaves behind Kim's husband Paul and his beautiful nephews Stuart and Ryan Gomes. Kirk has now been reunited with his adoring grandparents, as well as with his Aunt Maggie and with Kathy. He will be missed by his father-in-law Ron Lane and mother-in-law Marg Lane, sisters and brothers-in-law Brennie, Kathy and Bob, Rick and Tania and Gail. Kirk's love and laughter were always cherished by his nephews and nieces Jeff and Amanda (Stryfe), Jennifer and Adam, Reggie and Stephanie, Josh and Hilary, Kyren and Avery. Kirk shared a most special relationship with his Uncle George and Frances McCallion, Limavady, Northern Ireland and with his uncle Mort and aunt Beulah, London, ON. Mark (Patsy) Bond was Kirk’s cousin, but really his chosen brother, and loved dearly by Kirk . Kirk was honoured in his lifetime to have had so many special friends. As well, Kirk will be sadly missed by his many aunts, uncles and cousins throughout Canada and Northern Ireland. Stanley and Seymour will miss their two-legged father, the play time, the snuggling and the joy of being together. Family and friends are invited to honour and celebrate Kirk's life by dropping by the Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758) on Monday, August 25, 2008 between Noon and 2:00 p.m. A tea in the 'Spirit of the Irish' will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. for all to attend followed by words of remembrance at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Mr. Jim Moffatt facilitating. TENHAGEN, Marinus Daniel (Max)
Friday, August 22, 2008
1921-2008 - Max's Sentimental Journey. In 1951, Max, with his new wife Henny (1928-1996), travelled across the ocean to start a new life in Canada to wash away the atrocities that World War II had brought to his homeland, Holland. His life in Canada brought the peace and joy that he sought as he explored the natural beauty of Northern Ontario. Max, who loved the serenity that the rocks, lakes and forests offered always had fresh speckled trout and partridge to share with family and friends. His love, talent and appreciation of jazz touched many. We all have fond memories of Opa entertaining us, 'tinkling' the ivories and allowing us to share in a loving and sentimental journey that has been our family's pleasure. We will miss him - Mary Ellen, wife of 6 years, children: Marianne (Bill), Maxim (Linda) and Evelyn (Mike), grandchildren: Barry, Ben, Christine, Matthew, Luke and Nigel. Special thanks to Dr. Eidel Beduhn, physician and friend for thirty years and the staff of 200A General Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 from 5 pm until time of the service in the chapel at 7 pm. Pastor Craig Buckner officiating. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Bible Fellowship Church at Hiawatha Building Fund would be appreciated.
