Alice Elizabeth Parker

Parker, Alice Elizabeth - This very special lady died peacefully at Providence Manor after a long and full life, filled with love for everyone and from everyone. Alice was welcomed in to the arms of God and to her dearest husband Harry Scott Parker and to see again her parents Delia and William Buhle, her sisters Florence Buhle and Grace Konacher who died so long ago. Caring step-mother of Archie (Alice) and the late Julia Marshall (Clare) and loving grandmother of Shiela Thoder (Joe), Susan Clifton (Bill) Ann Davies (Brent), Steven, David and Christopher (Kim). Grandma will be deeply missed and remembered by her many great-grandchildren Brian, Mary, Sarah, Joey, Kevin, Mary-Kate, Lucy, Jessica, Colin, Evan, Eric, Garrett, Taylor, Lauren, Alicia, Christie, Emily, Erica and Aiden. Cherished aunt of Joyce Hisey (Sam), Aunt Ollie will be remembered always with endearing love by the Hisey children, Steven (Cindy), Virginia (Brian), Dennis, Vivian (Christopher), and Brian (Sarah) and their off-spring Alex, Emily, Graeme, Neil, Corinne, Jacqueline and Patrick. Alice touched the lives of many. Her thoughtfullness and kindness will be remembered by friends and families alike. In particular Mary Boucher, Wendy Parker, Karen Parker, Dixie Lee Parker (deceased), Evelyn Storey, the Salisbury and McGinn families are indicative of her caring. Born in New Jersey, raised in Pennsylvania, Alice came to Canada in the 1930's. Moving from Toronto to Tweed, Ontario and finally to Kingston. She was the loving custodian of the Lasalle Cottage on Earl St. for many years. Community and business involvement found her at the Kingston Chamber of Commerce, The Endowment Office at Queen's University, administrative work at St. Mary's Cathedral and finally as a parish secretary. Cooking, music, theatre, and art filled in her "empty moments". She become the Kingston Grandma Moses to all of us! An exceptional lady who lead an exceptional life through her church, the community, and the people close to her. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the nursing staff on Montreal 3 at Providence Manor. There have been so many who have so carefully tended to her welfare for so many years. Thanks also to Friar David Collins whose prayers and blessings have helped during these last months. Friends and family will be received at the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Homes - Central Chapel 49 Colborne St. (at Clergy St.) on Friday September 21, 2007 from 4-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. James Chapel (at Johnson St. and Clergy St., behind St. Mary's Cathedral) on Saturday Septmber 22, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Rite of Committal to follow with prayers at Mount Hope Cemetery, Toronto at 2:45 p.m. For those wishing, donations may be made to the charity of choice.

BRADY, GEORGE - After a lengthy illness, at Versa Care on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at the age of 76 years. Loving husband of Eileen for 53 years. Dear father of Diane (Kerry) Marvin, Karen, and Robert (Joy). He is survived by his 10 grandchildren, brothers Gordon and Alf and sister Mary Franklin. George is predeceased by his son Stephen, his grandson Kyle Marvin, his brothers Tom, Allan and John.

Mrs. Anne Stanko

In loving memory of our dear mother, Mrs. Anne Stanko, aged 92 years, of Pinewood Court (formerly of 421 Churchill Drive) who passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 23 after a lengthy illness. Born in Sifton, Manitoba, she was the daughter of the late John and Palahia Hrushowy. Educated in Sifton and St. Boniface, she earned her teaching certificate and taught elementary school in Sifton for eight years. She married the late James N. Stanko in 1943 and moved to Thunder Bay in 1956. Although her main focus was her family and friends, she enjoyed music, animals, cooking, gardening and her beloved crossword puzzles. She was ‘mama’ to her irascible dog Maxie, whose exploits were the stuff of legend. She loved big yellow sunflowers and springtime. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a delightful friend. She is lovingly and forever remembered for her tender heart, her kindness, selflessness, wisdom and humor. She faced her final illness with uncommon grace and courage, and has earned her rest. May the good Lord keep her and care for her, as she has cared for all of us throughout her long life. She is sadly missed by her son Dr. James Stanko (wife Janet) of Chattanooga and her daughter Patricia Mensour (husband Michael) of Sudbury; her grandchildren Jim Stanko (wife Cammi), Beth Stanko, Warren Stanko and Mitch Mensour; her brothers David Hrushowy of Parry Sound and Ted Hrushowy (wife Irene) of St. Thomas; her sister Zenia Petroff (husband Fred) of Canora, Saskatchewan; and her dear friends Carole Williams-Ball and Katie Ball of Thunder Bay to whom she was simply known as ‘Baba’. She is fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbours and friends. She was predeceased by her husband James Stanko in 1977; and by her brothers John Hrushowy, Henry Hrushowy and Willy Hrushowy; and by her sister Edna Schneider. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 from 7 – 9 p.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre. Funeral services for Mrs. Anne Stanko will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre followed by a reception in the Jenkens Funeral Home Lounge. Memorial donations to the CNIB or Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be appreciated. Haines, Norma (nee Duxbury) passed away suddenly on September 23, 2007 at the Rouge Valley Health System, Ajax, in her 66th year. Born in Toronto, ON, on September 19, 1942. Loving mother and best friend of Cheryl Lynn Carson (Ronald) and Glenn Ernest Nelson (Jill). Loving grandmother and favourite person of Stephanie Ann Carson, John Ernest and Kayla Ann Nelson. Predeceased by parents Myrtle and Norman Duxbury. She will be deeply and sadly missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends at the McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Old Kingston Road, Pickering Village (Ajax) on Wednesday September 26, 2007 from 11-12 pm. Clark, Gladys Gertrude (nee Hall) - With great anticipation, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late George Clark. Loving mother of Valla Clark, Marlene Metcalfe, (John Deyell), Karl (Pat) and Elmer (Ina). Sadly missed by her 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Mother -in-law of Evelyn Clark and Janet Clark. Dear sister of Walter, Dorothy and Helen. Predeceased by her sons, Russell and Ivan and her many other siblings. Sadly missed by her extended family. Friends will be received at the NISBETT FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL (600 Monaghan Rd. S.) on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Calvary Pentecostal Church (1421 Lansdowne St. W.) on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 1 p.m. with visitation 1 hour prior. Mr. Kenneth Joseph LeMaire

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Joseph LeMaire of Goderich and previously Toronto, on Saturday 16 September 2007 in his 84th year. Beloved husband of the late Mary Catherine Evans, brother to Bob and his wife Mary in Kelowna BC, Terry and her husband Bob in Courtney BC, and predeceased by his brother Joe and his wife Zita from London Ont. Actor, teacher orator and poet, Ken would sing at the drop of a hat without coaxing, and loved a good tale. Ken’s wit, charm and zest for life touched the hearts of those around him. His companionship and hospitality will be sorrily missed. Ken will be interned at Saint Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Goderich, at 1PM on Saturday the 29th of September. A Celebration of Ken’s Life will follow from 2-4 PM at the Livery, South Street, Goderich. In lieu of flowers, bring along your favourite memory.

Janette SHARKEY passed away peacefully, at home with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer, on September 25, 2007, at the age of 71. Janette will be greatly missed by her husband Neil, Always loved by her children Mark, Bruce (Kim), Allison (David Shaw). Very proud grandmother of Melanie, Mitchell, Cameron, and Bradley. As the eldest sister she will always be remembered by Adelaide Knight, Alexander Greer (Anne), and their families. She will be sadly missed by the community of Port Union seniors and all who knew her. Cremation has taken place, as per her wishes. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Paul’s-on-the-Hill Anglican Church (882 Kingston Road, Pickering) on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice, would be appreciated by the family.
