CASTELLAN, Emilio passed away peacefully on November 2nd, 2007 while surrounded by his family at the Greater Niagara General Hospital at the age of 87. Loving husband of the late Ilde Castellan (nee Martin). Dear loving father of Lou (Gabriella), John (Janet), Regina Ruberto (John), Tina Pisano (Nick). Beloved Zio of Luciano Castellan. Cherished Nonno of Tasha Sampson (Trevor), Shawn (Heather), Tyler, Crystal Castellan, J.J. (Jaclyn), Kristina Ruberto, Tony (Claudia), Joe (Kristal), Sabrina Pisano. He will be missed by his great grandchildren Natalie and Lauren, Justin and Emma, Madison. Special Nonno to Joseph, Thomas, David, Veronica, Jamie and Jonathan. Predeceased by his siblings Primo, Giovanni, Bruno, Gino, Carlo and Rosina. Will also be missed by his sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended family. Emilio was one of the founding members of Club Roma and will be sadly missed by his friends and fellow members. Friends will be received at the PATRICK J. DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL (39 Court Street, St. Catharines) on Monday, November 5, 2007 from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m., Vigil Prayers will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will be Celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church (169 St. Paul Cres., Catharines) on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Rite of Committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

KARAS, Diana Elizabeth (nee Zechner) - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Diana Karas. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at Lakeridge Health on Friday, November 2, 2007 at the age of 46 after a courageous battle against Hodgkins Lymphoma. Beloved wife and partner of Chris Karas and loving mother of Courtney and Shannon Karas of Whitby. Cherished daughter of Frank and Bertha Zechner of Unionville. Much loved sister and sister-in-law of Frank and Charlene Zechner and John and Lynn Zechner of Toronto, and devoted aunt to Wayne, Stuart, Scott, Jamie, Katie and Jack. Diana’s joyous spirit and love of life made her a treasured part of the lives of many friends and family members. SLATER, Joan passed away peacefully at Fosterbrooke Long Term Care, Newcastle, on Wednesday, October 31, 2007, in her 85th year. Long time member of Centennial United Church, CAW Women's Auxiliary and Pinecrest Golf Club (Peterborough). Joan spent her working career at Duplate and General Printers. Joan was born in Crediton, Devon, England. Predeceased by her parents Esmond (Samuel) and Margenia, sisters Winnie, Marjory, Eileen, Gwen, and brothers Claud and Billy. Survived by her sister Iris. Joan was a devoted and loving wife of Charles (deceased 2004) for 60 years. Loving mother of Dorothy Mattingley (Bob) and David (Marianne). Cherished grandma of Christopher (Melanie), Matthew (Kathy), Zachary (Lisa), Jennifer (Scot), Lisa, Karen and great-grandma of Austin and Evan. Good friend of Nick Hraynik, Faith Place, Oshawa.
