Maj. Harvey McLeod died suddenly on Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at his home in Toronto.
He was born at Wine Harbour, N.S. on Sept. 22, 1915, the son of Lt.-Col. Harvey McLeod, Canadian Field Artillery, who died that year in Flanders, and Margaret Irwin of Wine Harbour.
He went to school at Lower Canada College, Montreal and the Royal Military College, Kingston No. 2409. He was commission in 1939 in the Royal Canadian Dragoons and served overseas for five years.
He was captivated in 1942 by the brilliant blue eyes and light dancing feet of Lieut. (nursing sister) Betty Tyner, who after 58 years, survives him.
There are five children, Harvey (Gina), Hampton, N.B., Margaret, Ottawa, James, Port Credit, Victoria (Roger), Mississauga and Charles, Ottawa.
He remained in the army until 1965, after retirement he served a dozen years with the Etobicoke Board of Education. After his second retirement he travelled much of the world with his wife and served again splendidly as wise counsel to his children; 10 grandchildren and his two great-grandchildren. He was a man of uncommon charm and easy grace.
A service of remembrance will be held at the Turner and Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St., W. (between Kipling and Islington Aves.), Toronto today (Friday), June 16, 2000, at 3 p.m.

Llewelle Issette Grant, 97, formerly of Grand Lake Road and Glace Bay, passed away peacefully Monday, June 12, 2000, at the Yorkview Life Care Centre, Ontario.
She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Grant (1958) of Glace Bay.
Loving mother of Crosby Nurse, Olga Brown, Whitfield (Loretta), Melvin (Marjorie), Walter Sr. (Patricia). Dear grandmother of Charlotte ‘Jill’ (George Browne), David Nurse (Yolanda), Sandra, Karen, Donna, Walter Jr., Charmaine, James, David and Ashley. Great-grandmother of eight. Special grandmother of Robin and Loretta.
She is survived by a brother, Samuel Estwick (Louise), Ottawa, Ont.; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters, Hilda and Una.
A service was held at Ward Funeral Home, Ontario, with Brother Thomas Chuck of Jehovah Witness officiating. Cremation took place.
Mary Ann Garrett

Peacefully on Monday, June 5, 2000 at St. Catharines General Hospital, Mary Ann Garrett in her 88th year, beloved wife of the late D’Arcy (1982), loving mother and friend of Margaret and Lou Paron, Tom and Mary Garrett, all of St. Catharines, dear nannie of Lisa and Jeff Watson, Steven Garrett, dear grams of Michael and Judy Paron, Matthew Paron, greatnan to Meaghan Paron, Lauren Watson and Tyler Watson.
Survived by her sisters, Babe MacDonald, Mabel Brooker, Theresa and Currie Blanchard, her brothers Roddy and Jean MacDonald, Kenny MacDonald, her sister-in-laws, Vinie, Helen, Muriel, Margaret and Madeline MacDonald; predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Hector and Peg MacDonald, Donald MacDonald, Alex MacDonald, Tom and Kay MacDonald, Joe MacDonald, Neil MacDonald, James (Bimbo) MacDonald, brother-in-law, Arnie Brooker and sister-in-law Mary MacDonald.
She will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Garrett was a member of St. Denis Church, Catholic Women’s League for 50 years, founder and captain of the 16th Company Girl Guides at St. Columbia Church, volunteered at the Warehouse of Hope and worked OBS as a nurse at Hotel Dieu Hospital for many years.
Mrs. Garrett is resting at the George Darte North Chapel, 585 Carlton St., where a funeral liturgy without mass will be celebrated Friday 10 a.m. with cremation to follow. Visiting hours Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial remembrances to Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
Ambrose Moquet
79, Downsville, Ont.
On Saturday, June 17, 2000, funeral services were held for the late Ambrose Moquet of Downsview, Ont.
Mr. Moquet died suddenly at his home on Tuesday, June 13, 2000 at the age of 79.
A veteran of the Second World War, Ambrose was born in Reserve Mines, N.S., and moved to Ontario in the early 1950s. He was employed for years as a truck driver with Motorways until his retirement in 1982. Ambrose was never able to remain idle for very long, however. He loved his home and took great pleasure in working in his garden and with his hands.
He was an adoring husband, wonderful uncle, good neighbour and friend and a loyal and devoted man. He loved his native Cape Breton Island and held a fierce pride in his French heritage.
Ambrose is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Lillian (Walls), also formerly of Cape Breton.
Uncle Ambrose will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and godchildren who saw a shy and warm-hearted gentle giant with a wonderful laugh. He saw only the best in all of us and made each and every one of us feel unique and special in his eyes.
Arrangements were under the supervision of the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd. with visitations held in the afternoon and evening of Friday, June 16, 2000. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 17, 2000, at 1 p.m. in the Ward Chapel.
Relatives and friends from all through the years came to show their love and respect and it was a great source of strength and comfort for Ambrose’s family. Cremation took place immediately following the services and Ambrose will be laid to rest at a later date on Cape Breton Island at his request.

Ronald G. MacDonald

Ronald Gerard MacDonald, 51, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil MacDonald of Keltic Drive, died in Niagara Falls, Ont.
He is survived by three brothers, Tom, Jerome, and Roy and two sisters, Cecilia Hill and Lucina MacDonald.
There was no visitation. Remains have been cremated.
Marjorie Adelaide Neveaux

Kathleen (Nellie) Neveaux – passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Tuesday, June 27, 2000, in her 86th year.
Nellie Neveaux, beloved wife of Keith Neveaux. Loving mother of Shirley Roberts (Fred), Glace Bay, N.S., Thomas J. McKinnon (Ann), Niagara Falls, Ont. and Victoria M. Morrell (Les), Port Colborne, Ont. Proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Nellie is also survived by her sisters, Clara Gauthier and Marge Taylor, both of Niagara Falls, Ont.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Bruce Morrell, her brother, Will Wolley and her sister, Mary Tickner.
Mrs. Neveaux is at the Morse and Son Chapel of the Morgan Funeral Homes (5917 Main St., Niagara Falls) where her family received friends Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held today in Niagra Falls at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
A funeral mass, under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay, will be held in Cape Breton at Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport, Glace Bay, N.S., Monday, July 3 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
