Louis Roach, 68, of Toronto, died suddenly on Monday, Jan. 3, 2000.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Victor and Mary Ann (Cormier) Roach.
Survived by one brother, Charles (Irene), New Waterford and a sister, Theresa (Joe) Cormier, Sydney.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, June Gerrior, brother, Fred and a sister, Rose Agnes.
Funeral service and cremation took place in Toronto. A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14.

Ronald James McLaughlin, born Nov. 4, 1948, died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Guelph, surrounded by his family.
Ronald James McLaughlin, loving father to eight children, Lisa, Janice, Diane, Jimmy, Elizabeth, Kathy, Mary, and Michael. Loving grandfather to Matthew and Ashley, all from Nova Scotia.
Beloved son of Ursula Healey and the late Michael McLaughlin.
Loving brother to Terry Swan, Stratford, Joe, Seaforth, Marie Nigro, Stratford, Bill, Seaforth, Ken, Stratford, Pat Montgomery, Stratford, Mary Lou Wanner, Roseville, Pauline Polard, Thorndale, Barb Roth, Tavistock, Donna Chan, Kitchener and Sharon Wolfe, Mitchell. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by an infant sister, brother-in-law, Tom Nigro and nephew, Michael McLaughlin.
Ron was employed for 25 years with CN Rail.
Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N Guelph, where family will receive friends, Sunday from 2-8 p.m. A vigil for Ron will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Monday Jan. 17, at 10 a.m. Interment Marymount Cemetery, Guelph.

Ronald McGrady, 28, Brampton, Ont. formerly of Sydney, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, in Brampton, Ont.
Born in Toronto, he was the son of Mrs. Winnie (Peckham) McGrady and the late James J. McGrady.
Ronald attended Sydney Academy in the late 1980s.
He is survived by his mother, Winnie McGrady; two sisters, Tina (Steve) MacKinnon, Sydney, Tanya McGrady, Toronto and long time companion, Ms. Terry Applin. He is also survived by half-sister, Catherine, and three half-brothers, James John, Sean and Terry, all of London, Ont.; maternal grandfather, Anderson Peckham, Toronto, nieces and nephews.
Ronald was predeceased by twin brother, Robert, father, James; grandparents, James and Chris McGrady and nephew, Alex.
There will be a memorial mass held at St. Theresa’s Church Friday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery following mass.

Word has been received by his friend George Snow of North Sydney of the sudden passing of George Maxwell (Max) Smith who died Nov. 22, 1999, in Hamilton, Ont.
Beloved friend of Thelma. Survived by sons, George Maxwell, Sammy, Max and daughter, Rosanne and six grandchildren.
Predeceased by sisters, Anne, Margaret, Pearl and Mary and a brother, John.
Survived by sister, Jessica (Mrs. Peter Durant), sister-in-law, Dolores Smith and brother-in-law, Danny Chin.
Burial took place in Ontario.

Allan Joseph Vanetti, 32, of Etobicoke, Ont., passed away on Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, in New Brunswick, the result of a car accident.
Allan is survived by his parents, Dianne and Eric Vanetti, Gardiner Mines; sisters, Patricia, Etobicoke, Ont., Lori Anne (Jason) Hanna, Bolton, Ont. and a brother, Blair (Angie), Etobicoke, Ont. Also his grandmother, Jeanette Deveaux, Glace Bay. Allan will be sadly missed by his nieces Shelby and Grace and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, George Deveaux, Glace Bay and Kaiser and Rowena Vanetti, Dominion as well as aunt Judy Vanetti, Dominion.
Visitation and burial took place in Mississauga, Ont.

Mamie began her journey to be with God peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital, surrounded by her immediate family and dear friends on Monday, Jan. 24, 2000.
Loving wife and companion of Garry Thomas for 35 years (Feb. 20, 2000). Devoted and cherished mother of Grant and his wife, Julia. Dearest Nana to Emma Gail and Stewart William. Adopted daughter and niece of Stewart and Elizabeth Blackmore of North Sydney, N.S.
Throughout her life, despite health problems, Mamie always put others ahead of herself. She spent her years volunteering with Eastwood Coaching Association, Den Mother of Wentworth Lumber Midgets, Northstar Youth Organization for 15 years (Dutch Boy Drum and Bugle Corps, Kitchener, Ont.) and the Volunteer Association of Macassa Lodge for 18 years (Feb. 2000-17 years as volunteer Tuck Shop manager).
A very special thank you to Father D. Sanvido, the caring staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital, the VON, Alma, Connie and our numerous friends who helped to make this a joyous time and not one of sorrow.
In keeping with Mamie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A mass will be held in her memory, Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, 20 Idlewood Ave., Hamilton, Ont.

Beloved wife of the late Allan Pike. Dear mother of Mrs. Major Lillian and Sol Jewer, Hazel and Belnos Pedersen and the late Alvin Pike. Dear mother-in-law of Sarah Pike, Sydney. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
