Catherine Rosella Boese
79, St. Catherines
After a long hard battle with cancer, Catherine Rosella Boese passed away Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at the age of 79.
She is survived by her husband, Ernie Boese, St. Catharines, to whom she was married for 56 years; children, Adrian (Mariette), Niagara Falls, Brian (Rita), St. Catharines, Lee (Gena), Thorold, Heather Ann Jane (late Larry), Thorold and Douglas (Valerie), St. Catharines. There are 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Also survived by one brother, Joseph MacKinnon, Sydney Mines.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of late Michael and Mary (Elliot) MacKinnon.
After serving with the CWAC during the Second World War she came to the Niagara area where she devoted all her time to her family.
Lawrence Slade
64, Port Hope, Ont.
Mr. Lawrence Slade, formerly of Bras d’Or, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, in Port Hope.
He was the son of the late Robert and Ethel Slade.
He is survived by wife, Sydney Mae; sons, Robert (Karen) and Rick. Beloved grandchildren, Adam, Tammy, Ashley, Calvin. Also surviving are brothers, Elijah (Fran), Major, Sheldon (Sheila), all in Ontario; sisters, Mae (Carmen) DeMarco, Sydney Mines, Margaret Cameron (Harry), Fall River, Florence (Lawrence) Stevens, Blacketts Lake, Bernice Devoe, Sydney Mines, Carolyn (John) Farrell, London; half-sister, Emmiline (Donnie) LeRoy.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, George, Ray and sisters, Molly and Ruby.
Funeral service was held in Ontario on Oct. 1. As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Kevin Ambrose MacDonald
44, Toronto, Ont.
Kevin passed away peacefully at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of Mary Clarissa (Rucy) (Neville) MacDonald and the late Roderick Ambrose (Roddie Mack) MacDonald.
He was the third youngest of 13 children. In his teen years and early 20s, Kevin had a real zest for life and enjoyed hang gliding, playing hockey and driving his motorcycle. But tragically in October 1977, at age 22, Kevin was involved in a motorcycle/automobile accident that left him confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his days. He was not married.
Kevin is survived by his mother, Mary Clarissa (Rucy), Etobicoke; sisters, Marg, Brampton, Ann, Etobicoke, Rose, Mississauga; brothers, Rod, Brampton, Allan, Mississauga, Gerry, Etobicoke, Bryden, Mississauga, Michael, Niagara Falls, Greg, Cambridge, Angus, Tower Road, Glace Bay; 33 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; cousins and in-laws.
Kevin was predeceased by his father, Roderick (Roddy Mack) in 1996 at age 81, brothers, Lawrence in 1943 at age nine months and Pat in 1990, at age 45.
Funeral was held under the direction of Turner and Porter Funeral Chapel, Etobicoke on Oct. 9, 1999. Funeral mass was held at St. Clements Catholic Church, Etobicoke. Interment took place at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Mississauga.
Jean MacIsaac
72, Thunder Bay, Ont.
Mrs. Jean MacIsaac, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at the age of 72 years.
Born in Hearts Content, Nfld., she later moved as a young girl to Nova Scotia with her family.
That is where she met and married Joseph MacIsaac, and following his retirement they moved to Thunder Bay. Joseph predeceased her in 1990. Jean was a life member of the Whitney Pier Legion, Branch 128 in Sydney, N.S., as well as a member of the Welcome Temple No. 7 Pythian Sisters.
She is survived by her children, John MacIsaac (Wilma), Rita MacIsaac, Joseph MacIsaac, Jamie MacIsaac (Audrey), and Betty Jane MacIsaac, all of Thunder Bay. Six grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Dwayne, Joseph, Darren, Sarah, and Nicole. Sisters, Linda Campbell (Joe) and Mary MacDonald. Special niece, Betty Mollywell. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, son James, granddaughter in infancy, sisters, Mildred, Sarah and Leah and one brother, Gideon.
Funeral service for the late Mrs. Jean MacIsaac will be held Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at 11 a.m. in the Westfort Chapel, with Rev. Andrew Hoskins officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be held today, Oct. 13, 1999 from 7-9 p.m. in the Westfort Chapel, 420 W. Gore St. at James, Thunder Bay, Ont., P7E 6J2.

Mrs. Jean MacIsaac, who passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, was survived by a special niece, Betty Hollywell, Toronto.
She was also predeceased by her parents, Noah and Clara George.

Edward McVarish on Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, in his 80th year, at home in Napanee, Ont. after a lengthy illness.
Born in New Waterford, Cape Breton, Ed is survived by his wife, Joan; son, James and James' wife Lynda, his daughter Maureen, his son Michael and Michaelıs wife Ursula and their sons, Andrew and Matthew.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mark's United Church, 115 Orton Park, Scarborough, Ont. (416-439-8623), Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association.
Donald Gerard Butts

Donald Gerard Butts, died peacefully at his home Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, in his 72nd year.
Don, beloved husband of Rena (nee MacLean). Loving father of Janet and her husband, Martyn Coates, Richard and his wife Lucy, and Mary and her husband Mark Watson. He leaves six grandchildren whom he loved deeply, Alexander, Daniel and Will Butts, Treena and Donnie Watson, and Amanda Coates.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Esther Butts, Sydney Mines, N.S., brothers, Blaise, Hurst, and Wilfred, sisters, Jeanne and Helen, nephew, Crispin, and grandchildren, Kate and Max McNab.
