Helen Bernice Smith
Ontario
It is with deepest sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a dearly loved mother, sister and grandma, Helen Smith, of 487 Cottage Rd., Sydney, who passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at QEII Infirmary, Halifax.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Hilary and Edna McPhee. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Melvin in 1997.
Helen leaves behind four devoted children, sons, Daniel (Debbie), Sydney, Bruce (Cynthia), Sydney, Brent (Laura), Reserve Mines; and only daughter, Shauna Sifnakis (George), Sydney. She also leaves behind six adoring grandchildren, Carson and Toula Sifnakis, Taylor Smith, Hilary and Emily Smith, and Rachel Smith. She leaves behind three loving sisters, Barbie Jackson (Eric), Donkin, Donna Sponagle, Sydney River and Sheila Ivany (Gary), New Boston. Stepmother, Nora McPhee, Reserve Mines; sister-in-law, Debbie McPhee, Reserve Mines; brother-in-law, Robert MacDonald, Marion Bridge; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by a brother, Gerard McPhee; a sister, Rose MacDonald and brother in-law, Wally Sponagle.
Helen was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
There will be no visitation by her request. A memorial service will be announced.

Margaret A. Bildfell
67, Windsor, Ont.
Margaret A. Bildfell, Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, in her 67th year, at her home in Windsor, Ont.
Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Little of Emerald Street, New Waterford.
Survived by her husband, Lawrence; son, Brian and wife Gail; grandsons, Kyle and Brent; brothers and sisters, Joan Moroz, Sydney, May (MacPhee), Wagaman, York, Pa., David Little, New Waterford, George (Rudy) Little, Mississauga, Divina Hrushaka, Simcoe, Ont.
A brother, Billy predeceased her.
A service of remembrance was held Nov. 20, 1999, in Windsor, Ont.

Charity Elizabeth Maidment
83, Cambridge, Ont.
Charity Elizabeth Maidment, at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, in her 83rd year.
Lizzie Maidment is the beloved wife of the late Eleazar Maidment (1972) and loving daughter of the late Frederick and Caroline Poole.
Dear mother of John and his wife Dorothy, Edward and his wife Audrey, Bess Barrett and her husband Abe, George and his wife Dorothy and Nelson, all of Cambridge. Loved grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Violet Maidment, Glace Bay N.S., Evelyn Heath and John Poole, both of Cambridge.
She was predeceased by two daughters, Shirley Maidment and Norma Boutilier, one son, Russell Maidment and two brothers, Herb and Fred Poole.
Mrs. Maidment was a long time active member of the Salvation Army and was a former employee of Gore Insurance, Tremco Industries and Dobbie Industries.
Friends will be received at Coutts and Son Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge, Tuesday (today) from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the Salvation Army Cambridge Citadel, 12 Shade St., Cambridge, Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m. with Maj. Harvey Canning officiating. Interment Mount View Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Virginia Irene McDonald
Ontario
Peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, in her 70th year.
Beloved wife of the late James McDonald; dear mother of James (Gail), Ronald, Sharon (Brian), David Wayne, Bruce (Margarite), Cecilia (Rod), Rosemary (Darren), Elaine (Todd); cherished nana of Frank, Kim, Brian James, Bill, Bradley, Devon, Chris, Nathan, Melissa and Jeremy; dear sister of Emerson and Norman.
She was predeceased by her sister, Margaret and brother, Harry.
Virginia will also be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephew, family and friends.
At the request of Virginia, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Thorpe Brothers Funeral Home (519-759-2211), 96 West St., Brantford, Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at 1:30 p.m.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Lung Association would be appreciated.

David De Oliveira
2, Georgetown, Ont.
An angel received his wings, peacefully, on Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at his home in Georgetown.
David, 2 years of age, beloved son of Heather and Jack. Cherished little brother of Michael. Loved grandson of Lillian Carrigan and the late Leo Carrigan and Maria and Jose Oliveira. David will also be sadly missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends of the family.
Friends will be received at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd., north of Maple Avenue, Georgetown, (905) 877-3631, Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999 at 11 a.m. Interment in Toronto Necropolis Cemetery.
In memory, contributions to the Hospital For Sick Children, Neurology Department, would be appreciated.

Hector F. MacDougall
79, Ontario
Hector F. MacDougall, 79, of Willowdale, Ont. and formerly of Tower Road, Glace Bay, passed away on Nov. 16, 1999, after a brief illness. He was a retired chief engineer of the Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
Hector was the son of the late Hector and Mary (MacKinnon) MacDougall.
Survived by wife, Jennie MacMullin formerly of New Aberdeen, Glace Bay and his brother, Hughie (Faustina) and by sister, Theresa Woods, Quebec. Also by a number of nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by stepbrother, Bernie MacDougall and stepsister, Mrs. Mary MacDonald and by brothers, Vincent, Danny, Eddy and Joseph.
Funeral mass was held Saturday, Nov. 20 at St. Paschal Baylon Church. Cremation followed.

Elizabeth (Betty) Ballantyne

The MacKeigan family regrets to announce the passing of their sister Elizabeth (Betty) Ballantyne on Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, in Mt. Forest, Ont.
The daughter of the late John A. and Gertrude (Ingraham) MacKeigan, Betty is survived by her husband, Robert; three daughters, one son and several grandchildren, all of Ontario.
She will also be deeply missed by her sister, Ruth (Keith) Davis, St. Thomas; her brother, Hubert (Dorothy), Sydney and numerous stepbrothers, stepsisters, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by brothers, Eion and Gerald.
Burial will take place in Mt. Forest, Ont., Tuesday, Dec. 7.

Ruby Eva (Yurchesyn) Hasiuk
Oshawa
Peacefully on Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa.
Beloved wife of the late Anthony (Tony) Hasiuk. Loved mother of Stephen (predeceased), Anne and Joe Olesky, Catherine and Elias Hubinec and Marie and Douglas Benedict. Dear sister of Mike and John Yurchesyn and predeceased by Mary, Alex, Joseph and Annie. Fondly remembered by 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Oshawa Funeral Service ‘Thornton Chapel’ 847 King St. West for visitation Thursday, April 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Visitation continues at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George, St., Sydney, Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Panachyda at 7:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church with Rev. Rudnik officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, masses, a good deed for someone or donations to some charity in memory of Ruby would be appreciated.
