Louis passed away in Barrie, Ont. on December 13, 1999.
Before going to Ontario he worked in the Central Shop in Glace Bay, N.S. He left Glace Bay in 1947.
He was predeceased by two years, his wife, Pearl Payne, formerly of Water St., Glace Bay.
He is survived by four children, Kenny, Bruce, Sharon Gostling and Louise.
He was predeceased by his parents Louis and Helen MacCormack and three brothers Steve, Joseph and Edmund and three sisters Jane Stack, Helen Turner and Margaret Smith.
He is survived by his brother Elmer and sister Eileen MacCain from Windsor, Ont. and Gertrude Stack of Sydney, N.S.
His funeral took place in St. Mary’s Church, Barrie, Ont. on Dec. 15.

George Cossitt, formerly of Sydney, passed away suddenly on Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, in Scarborough, Ont.
He was the son of the late Bert and Margaret (MacDougall) Cossitt.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice, sons, Ernie and Gary, daughters, Linda and Margaret and their families, all of Ontario.
He is also survived by brothers, Gus, Brampton, Ont., Eoin, Sydney; sisters, Alta Vaughan, Toronto, Ont., Sarah MacLean, Louise (Ward) MacLennan, Marina Anderson, Myrtle (Allen) Matheson and Virginia Chezenko, all of Sydney, N.S.

Beloved wife of the late John Edward Gillis, age 87 years; dear mother of Paul Joseph Gillis and his wife Phyllis, and Judith Anne Gillis and her husband Joseph; grandmother of Angela, Joseph, Paul Jr., John, Gerard, Patricia, Johnny and Jason.
Predeceased by a grandson, Eddie.
Great-grandmother of Richard, J.J., Edward David, Alysha, Catherine, Jenna and Erin. Sister of Tom Gillis.
Predeceased by sisters and brothers, Imelda, Donald, John (Jack), Martin, Michael, Anne, Isobel, William (Bill) and Molly.
Dorothy is at the Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court St. (at King), St. Catharines, Ont. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Wednesday, Dec. 22, at 10 a.m. The Rite of Committal will take place in Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill, Ont., Vigil prayers in the funeral home Tuesday evening at 8:30 p.m. Visiting hours Monday and Tuesday 2-4, 7-9 p.m.

Beloved wife of Douglas. Loving mother of Ron, Bellville and son-in-law, Andrew Wilson. Loving grandmother of Sebastian Grinham, Toronto, Brian and Allan Wilson, both of Ottawa.
Predeceased by her brother, Murray and sister, Maisie.
Service to be held in the funeral home Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. D. MacLeod officiating. Interment Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

Dara Mugford of 924 Hiawatha Park Road, Gloucester, Ont., passed away at the Ottawa General Hospital, Ontario, on Friday Dec. 24, 1999.
Born in Ottawa, she was the daughter of Darryl and Virginia (Phalen) Mugford, who were former residents of Glace Bay, N.S., and members of St. Anne’s Parish.
Survived by a brother Adam; maternal grandfather Joe Phalen, Glace Bay; paternal grandmother Helen Mugford, New Waterford, and maternal great-grandfather Joseph Jamieson, Glace Bay. Also survived by a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was predeceased by her grandfather, Fred Mugford and grandmother Lillian (Jamieson) Phalen.
The family will receive relatives and friends between 9:30-9:55 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church Foyer. Mass of resurrection in Dara’s memory will begin at 10 a.m. with Rev. Doug Murphy officiating. Interment service will follow in St. Anne’s Cemetery.

Evelyn (MacGillivary) Hawco

Evelyn (MacGillivary) Hawco of Scarborough, Ontario, died peacefully in hospital on Dec. 25, 1999 with her children by her side after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in New Waterford she was the daughter of Bernadette and the late Dan MacGillivary of Scotchtown, N.S.
She is survived by children Celeste and Melissa at home and son Christopher, Halifax, and by one grandson, Quinton, whom she dearly loved. Also surviving are sisters Sally (Mrs. Howard Anderson), Sydney, Marlene (Mrs. Patrick Griffin), Sydney Mines and Jacquelene, at home; two brothers Donnie (Kay), New Waterford, and Alvin, at home.
She was predeceased by one sister Anna. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Memorial mass will be Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at 6:30 p.m. in Saint Michael’s Church, Scotchtown, N.S.
