Edward Francis Kennedy
Toronto, Ontario
Edward Francis Kennedy passed away in his 70th year at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, Ont.
Born in Glace Bay, N.S., he was a son of the late Edward and Catherine (Campbell) Kennedy.
He is survived by his sisters, Mrs. Jenny Shearon, Mrs. Dolores McDonald, Mrs. Ann Stacey, of Ontario, and Mrs. Agatha Ryan of Nova Scotia; brothers, Al and Vic, Ontario, and Terry, Glace Bay.
He was predeceased by sisters, Mrs. Marguerite Gale and Cecelia Kennedy, step-sister, Mary Ogley and a brother, Edward Kennedy.
At his request cremation has taken place. Burial services at the graveside will take place Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 3 p.m. at St. John’s Cemetery, Wallace Road, Glace Bay with Rev. Paul McGillivray officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Arrangements under the direction of Curry Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay.

Wallace (Wallie) Beaton, 68, Toronto

On Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at age 68, Wallace (Wallie) Beaton, passed away in Toronto, Ont.
Born and raised in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Abraham and Margaret (MacNeil) Beaton.
He is survived by stepmother, Priscilla, New Waterford; brothers, Douglas (Alice), Washago, Ont., Abraham (Grace), Vancouver, B.C.; a sister, Winnifred (Neil) Grimshaw, Newmarket, Ont.; also several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to a good friend Jim MacDonald.
By request Wallie’s remains were cremated. A private family service will take place at a later date in New Waterford, N.S.

Francis Edward Kennedy
70, Toronto, Ont.
Francis Edward Kennedy, 70, past away Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Ont.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Edward and Catherine (Campbell) Kennedy.
Surviving are the sisters, Mrs. Jenny Shearon, Mrs. Dolores McDonald and Mrs. Ann Stacey, Ontario, Mrs. Agatha Ryan N.S.; brothers, Al Kennedy, Vic Kennedy, Ontario and Terry Kennedy, Glace Bay; step-sister Mrs. Mary Ogley, Ontario.
Sisters, Mrs. Marguerite Gale, Cecilia Kennedy and brother, Edward Kennedy predeceased him.
Cremation has taken place. Burial services at the graveside will take place Tuesday 3 p.m. in St. John’s Cemetery, Wallace Road, Glace Bay. Rev. Paul McGillivray officiating.

Deborah Jennex
Mississauga, Ont.
Deborah Jennex suddenly, at home, in Mississauga, Ont., on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000. Deborah, beloved wife of John Jennex Sr., passed on.
Loving mother of David Jennex and fiance Cindy Driscoll and first grandson Nathaniel, Michael Jennex and Beverly and John Jennex Jr. She will be sadly missed by Sarah and Angel Jennex and Timothy Jennex. Fondly remembered by siblings, Winnifred Whiteside Davenport and Linley James Davenport.
Predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Davenport of 10 Marshall St. as well as all her other relatives and friends.
We will all miss her generosity of spirit, love and humour.
As you go with God, we await the day we all will be joined again.
Mrs. Jennex rested at the Funeral Home of Skinner and Middlebrook Ltd., 128 Lakeshore Road East (one block west of Hurontario Street) Mississauga, on Wednesday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel today (Thursday) at 11 a.m.
At Deborah’s request cremation will take place.

Laura Porter
75, North Sydney / Mississauga, ON
Laura Porter, 75, a resident of Mississauga, Ont., formerly of North Sydney, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, in Mississauga.
Born in Rose Blanche, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Collins) Bess.
Laura was a former member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church and of the Fulton Lodge LOBA.
Surviving is a son, Ron (Yvonne) Porter, Mississauga; two sisters, Ruth Pyke and Allie Billard, both of North Sydney; a brother, Norman Bess, Ajax, Ont.; grandchildren, Sheila, Scott, Laura and Lorraine and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Porter, a daughter, Caroline Benoit and a sister, Susie Kendall.
Visitation 7-9 p.m. tonight (Saturday) 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service 2 p.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Church with Archdeacon Reg MacDonald officiating.
Burial to follow at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to the CNIB Children's Fund.

Gerald Adrian Butts
Guelph, Ont.
Gerald Adrian Butts of Guelph, Ont., passed away, peacefully, at home, Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, surrounded by his family, in his 76th year.
Predeceased by his wife, the late Hughena (MacMillan) (Oct. 24, 1998).
He is survived by his children, Adrienne and husband Colin DiCastri, Waterloo, Ont., Fulton Butts, Gwen and husband Peter Valeriote, llIana and husband Gary Laderoute, Ingrid and husband Ben Meurs and Lowell Butts and wife Nancy, all of Guelph, Ont.; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters, Jeanette Crane, Kathleen Stubbert and Gwen Bonifacio and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by five infant children, his parents, Frank and Amanda Butts, and brothers, William Butts and the Rev. Fr. Basil Butts.
Friends will be received at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home and Chapel, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Ont., Tuesday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Vigil for Adrian will be held Tuesday evening at 8 p.m.. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Church, 175 Emma St., Guelph, Ont., Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m.. Committal service and interment at Marymount Cemetery, Guelph, Ont.
Memorial contributions to the Partners for Better Health Campaign at either the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, 70 Westmount Rd., Guelph, Ont., N1H 5H7 or the Foundation of the Guelph General Hospital (Partners for Better Health Campaign), 115 Delhi St., Guelph, Ont. N1E 4J4 would be appreciated.

Peacefully at the Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga, Ont., on Monday, Sept. 25, 2000.
Edna Matthews (nee MacKenzie) Gauld, formerly of Oakville and Burlington, in her 87th year.
Beloved wife of the late Arthur Fraser Gauld. Loved sister of Dr. Douglas MacKenzie and Charlotte Dickey.
Predeceased by her sister, Helen and brother, James.
Mrs. Gauld was retired from Lyman Tubes, Oakville, Ont.
Private cremation. If desired, expressions of sympathy to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Arthritis Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
