Flood, Christopher Harry of Thessalon, Ontario

Tragically at the Thessalon Hospital on Tuesday September 10, 2013. Christopher Flood in his 58th year, beloved husband of Leila Flood for 32 years. Loving father of Thomas Flood of Sault Ste. Marie. Dear son of the late Harry and June Flood and son-in-law of the late Lynn and Irene Mills. Dear brother of Marlene Brandt (Freddie) of Spanish, Jeff Flood (Rose) of Bruce Mines, Derrick Flood (Liman) of China and the late George Flood (Kathy), and brother-in-law of Terry Mills (Marilyn) of Bruce Mines, Linda Reid (Wayne) of Sault Ste. Marie and Lois Senecal (Dennis) of Bruce Mines. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Beggs Funeral Home, Thessalon on Saturday September 14, 2013 from 2pm to 5pm. Cremation. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation gratefully accepted.

SAMPSON, Fredrick George of St. Thomas formerly of London, Ont.

Fredrick George “Fred” Sampson passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital at the age of 60. Fred is survived by his loving wife Barb Sampson (nee Seymour); his son Darrell (Michelle) Sampson and their children Carter and Kennedy all of St. Thomas; his mother Virginia Sampson of London; by his sisters Kathleen (Harold) Lake of Edmonton, Sharon (Rollie) Martens of Kelowna, B.C.; his brothers Richard Sampson of Kelowna, B.C. and Robert (Bonnie) Sampson of London; sister Debbie (Dave) Young of Port Bruce; sisters-in-law Janie Sampson of London and Kathy (Jerry) Pawitch of Strathroy; and by many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his father Harry Sampson and his brother Charles Sampson. Fred’s passion for architecture lead him to begin his career as a draftsman. Eventually he wanted to become more hands-on with his projects, which inspired him to start his own framing company. As the years passed, he transitioned into the role of superintendent for several construction companies. Fred also enjoyed gardening, golfing, cooking, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren Carter and Kennedy. Arrangements entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street St. Thomas (519-631-0570). Cremation has taken place. A private service will be held on a later date. If desired, donations to the Lung Association –C.O.P.D. or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated.

McCallum, Linda of Windsor formerly of Tyrconnell

Peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday September 4 2013, Linda (Page) McCallum of Windsor, Ontario in her 68th year. Dearly loved mother of Cindy (Neil) Relkie of Nanimo, B.C. and Angela Colpaert of Woodstock. Proud Grandmother of Ashley Relkie and Great-Grandmother of Taya. Linda is survived by her brothers Bob (June), Bill (Kim), Ronnie (Connie) Dennis (Shelly). Predeceased by her parents Robert and Hazel (Fillmore) Page. Cremation has taken place. Ashes to be interred in Tyrconnell Cemetery at a later date. Donations made in memory of Linda to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. passed away at Grey Bruce Health Services-Markdale, Sunday September 8, 2013. Larry Burton Yorke of R.R.#7 Markdale at the age of 68. Beloved husband of Linda Yorke. Dear father of Shawna Lee Yorke of Aurora, Jeff Burton Yorke of Hamilton. Loving son of Dorothy Masse of Leamington. Predeceased by sister Heather Ong. Cremation with private family arrangements. POVELOFSKIE, Yvonne of R.R. #1 Desboro

Yvonne Elaine Povelofskie of R.R. #1 Desboro, passed away peacefully at her home, with family by her side, on Friday, September 6, 2013 in her 81st year.
Born in Chesley on September 12, 1932, daughter of the late William Austin and Lucinda Muir. She was predeceased by her husband Lyle in 2006. Cherished mother of Randy of R.R. #1 Desboro, Susan (Charles) Gateman of Shallow Lake, William (Jacqueline) of Williams Lake, B.C., Braun (Pamela) of Williams Lake, B.C., Tim (Anita) of Listowel, Joy of R.R. #1 Desboro, and Janet (David) Condinho of Fordwich. Yvonne will be sadly missed by 17 grandchildren: Dennis (Renee), Amanda (Jody), Joel (Heather), Valerie (Steve), Jasmin (Kelly), Daina (Ryan), Fawn (Keith), Robin, William (Danielle), Tyler, Calista (Ron), Jasmin (Lindsey), Nicole (Graham), Amelia (Miles), Vanessa, Mariah, and Savannah. Lovingly remembered by 8 great-grandchildren: Emily, Travis, Penelope, Austin, Jake, Kona, Kayden, and Faith. Dear sister of Doris Batty of Harriston. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law.
Yvonne was predeceased by her son Edward (Ted), sisters Mildred, Marjorie, Stella, Hazel, Shirley, Yvonne Mildred, and brothers Jack, Roy and Earl.
Visitation will be held at the Rhody Family Funeral Home, Chesley on Monday, September 9th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Chesley Community Centre (129 4th St. S.E.) on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 1 pm. Interment in Chesley Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Chesley Hospital Foundation or Owen Sound Oncology Department would be appreciated.
The family appreciates the loving care given to our Mom by the Chesley Hospital, Dr. Winterton, Owen Sound Oncology doctors, nurses and volunteers. We are at a loss for words for the excellent care and personal attention given to Mom in her home setting by the CCAC Care Partners nurses, and the Para Med PSW’s. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Carter, David George of Sutton, P.Q

The family of David George Carter (1950-2015) sadly announce that Dave passed away at Grace General Hospital, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on May 16th, 2015.
He was pre-deceased by his father Herbert, his mother Dorothy and his sister Shirley. He left behind his beloved sister Cheryl (Peter), his life partner Diane, their two daughters Jasmine (Thomas) and Annie (Daniel), three beautiful grand-daughters Zoë-Ann, Nikita, Lilly, one nephew, several nieces, and many friends. He was born and raised in Montreal, but he also spent parts of his life in Eastern Townships, and on Vancouver Island.His family will remember him as a free spirit who enjoyed using his many creative talents playing piano and guitar, traveling, carpentry, gardening and cooking.
His memorial will take place at Riverside Cemetery on September fifth, and a celebration of life will be held at the Royal Legion in Sutton afterward.
Bon Voyage David, you were loved and you are missed.

HUSAK, John, of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, in his 91st year. Loving husband for 58 years to the late Waltraut (nee Martens) Husak (2011). Dearly loved father of John Husak (Janice) of Port Stanley, and the late Helga Jacques (1999) (Mike of BC). Cherished grandfather of Jim, Jason, Amanda and Andrea. Loved great grandfather of Christopher, Quinton, Sydney, and Brianna. Also fondly remembered by his sister-in-law, Christa Lindemann (Walter), and his nephew Walter Lindemann (Colleen), all of London. John was born on August 25, 1924, in the Ukraine. He was a retired carpenter, having worked in the St. Thomas area. John was a member of Holy Angels’ Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas. There will be no public visitation. A private funeral service will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160). Interment in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario gratefully acknowledged.

PELL, Dave of Fingal, Ont

PELL – David William Pell passed away, surrounded by his family, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Saturday, August 8, 2015 in his 77th year. Dave is survived by his loving wife Sharon; his children John Pell of Shedden, Wesley (Kim) Pell of Ft. Saskatchewan, and Marc (Foti) Pell of Montreal; by his grandchildren Patrick (Lydia) Pell, Sarah (Brent) Hotke, Marie (Kevin) Braga all of St. Thomas, Christine Pell (Adam) of London, Ashley Neill (Chris), Mandy (Chris) Brown, Jennifer King all of St. Thomas, and Derek and Trevor Pell of Ft. Saskatchewan; by his thirteen great grandchildren; by his sisters Joyce (Jack) Prothero of British Columbia, Virginia (Ormond) Steele of Nevada, Sylvia (Jim) Brady of Long Point, Jan (Chuck) Stamas of Tillsonburg; his brothers Fred (Kylene) Pell of Alabama and George (Katherine) Pell of British Columbia; by his sisters-in-law Patricia (Doug) Ough of St. Thomas, Shirley (Sam) Vary, Dora Simmons both of Wheatley; by his brother-in-law Robert Fleming of St. Thomas; and by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents William and Marie Pell. Dave was a former farmer, commercial fisherman, and employee at Dowler-Karn. He was an elder and treasurer at Fingal Knox Presbyterian church for 33 years and he loved a good game of cards, especially euchre. A memorial service to celebrate Dave’s life will be held at Fingal Knox Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Interment of ashes will be held privately for family in Fingal Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570). If desired, donations to Fingal Knox Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.

Shaw–Kingdon, Tracey Lee of Sarnia

Peacefully at home on Saturday, August 2, 2015, TRACEY LEE SHAW–KINGDON, age 52 of Sarnia passed away. Will be dearly missed by her children; Joel, Jodie, Codee (Terri), Chase and Alyssa. Survived by her mother Lee Shaw. Loved grandmother of Robert, Rihanna, Cobee, Jaxon. Missed by Deanna and Jennica and special friend Conrad. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Tracey’s Life will be held at the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE LTD. on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 12:00 noon until time of service. Donations in Tracey’s memory can be made to Bluewater Health Withdrawl Management Program.
Tracey is now at peace and is reunited with the love of her life Chris Dunn.
