COON, Ruth Isobel of Brockville and formerly of Lyn
Peacefully entered into rest at the Brockville General Hospital Charles Street Site on Wednesday December 24th, 2014. Ruth (Shewan) Coon of Brockville and formerly of Lyn, age 81 years. Beloved wife of the late Gerald “Gerry” Coon. Loving mother of David Coon (Malena) of Vancouver, Edward Coon (Brenda) of Brockville, Donna Pyle (Bob) of Atlanta, Georgia, Patsy Coon of Cornwall and Todd Coon of Gatineau. Loving grandma of 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Gowan, Thomas (Wanda) and Eric Shewan, Barbara Mattock and the late Elizabeth Hodge and Jim Shewan. Ruth is also survived by sister in laws Sylvia and Margaret Coon and Phyllis Shewan, brother in law Stanley Hodge as well as several nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by parents Laurence and Grace (Anderson) Shewan, brother in laws Eldon, Melville and Donald Coon and Colin Mattock.
At Ruth’s request there will be no public visitation or service. A Private Family Interment will take place at Lyn Cemetery at a later time. In memory of Ruth, donations to the Brockville District Hospital Foundation Palliative Care or the Salvation Army would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. MACAULAY, “Buddy” of Dobbinton
Godfrey “Buddy” Thomas MacAulay passed away peacefully at his home in Dobbinton on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at the age of 76.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Marlyn (Bimm), five sons Barry (Terri) of Owen Sound, Terry of London, Trent of London, Trevor (Penny) and Derek (Ann), all of Owen Sound. Buddy or Poppa as he was known will be sadly missed by his seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Survived by his sister Marie (Russ) Eveleigh of Chilliwack, B.C and brother-in-law Mervyn Bimm of Pembroke. Bud will be fondly remembered by his many neighbours and friends, especially Don and Beth Slumskie. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Katherine MacAulay.
Bud wished to be cremated, and a private celebration of his life will be held at a later date at the family residence. Arrangements entrusted to Rhody Family Funeral Home, Chesley.
Memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Cherished grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Helen and her husband Ralph Lyons of Hanover. Sister –in-law of Beatrice McCutcheon of Durham. Died peacefully on Wednesday January 22, 2014 at the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood in his 74th year. Don of Wasaga Beach, formerly of Brampton, beloved husband of Bette for over 51 years. Loving father of Ron of Palm Springs, California; David (Melanie) of Coquitlam, British Columbia and Walter (Mary Ann) of Pitt Meadows, British Columbia. Dear grandfather of Nadine and Elise of Coquitlam, British Columbia. Don will also be missed by his mother-in-law Caroline Jamieson of Ottawa and brother-in-law Alan (Janet) Jamieson of Timmins and their family. Don was a humble and compassionate man. He loved his family, was a mentor to many and always put others first. He will be missed. His family thank Dr. Peter Holloway, Dr. Michael Lisi and their nursing staff for the exceptional care given to Don. CARTER, Heather Stuart and Robert “Rob” Carter of London are saddened by the unexpected passing of their baby daughter Dakota Elizabeth Carter, on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. Precious baby sister of Leeah, Aydin, Jayme and Dylan. Loved and will always be remembered by Grandparents Jim and Donna Stuart of London and Tibby Carter of Grand Bend. Gottfried “Dolf” Rubin, Ph.D. of Sudbury, ON
RUBIN, Gottfried - Born in Leipzig, Germany on Dec. 30, 1926, he passed peacefully from this life on Nov. 10, 2014 at age 87 years; with his wife Rosemarie at his side at the Westmount Retirement Residence. In Germany, he studied physics at the Universities of Heidelberg (B.Sc.), Freiburg (M.Sc.), and Saarbruecken (Ph.D.). In Saarbruecken he was also an instructor of Physics. Later, he worked as a research physicist at the Roechling Steelworks, and married Rosemarie Boergardts in 1955. In 1957 they emigrated with their new daughter Astrid to the USA where he worked as a researcher at the Union Carbide laboratories in Fostoria and Cleveland, Ohio. A second daughter, Cordula, was born during this time. He joined Clarkson University in upstate New York as an assistant associate professor for five years.He also worked as a consultant to help build up an electronic ceramics production facility in Germany. Subsequently he joined IITRI in Chicago, the research arm of the Illinois Institute of Technology, as senior physicist. A third daughter, Monica, was welcomed into the family. From there, they moved to Sudbury where Dr. Rubin was a professor of Physics at Laurentian University, also serving as chairman of the department; for 15 years. He retired in 1992. He was a contributing member of a number of international scientific societies, and was author and co-author of about a hundred publications in Physics and Engineering journals. He received a number of honours for scientific achievements, and holds three patents. In his spare time he enjoyed music and literature, as well as spending happy times with his family at camp.He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie, daughters Astrid Saari (Antti) of Blezard Valley, Cordula Morais (Alyre) of New Brunswick and Monica Abbey (Travis) of British Columbia. He was the cherished grandfather of Sonia Saari (Wei Wang), Shawn Saari (Tasha), and Zoe Abbey, and also great-grandfather to Madisen and Kai. He is sadly missed by his sisters, Illa Sonneville and Regina Kunschert (Adalbert), his niece Petra, nephews Donat, Remi and Bernard and their families.Heartfelt thanks from the family to the kind staff at the Westmount Retirement Residence, as well as CCAC for their compassionate care and support. In keeping with Dolf’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private interment ceremony will be held at Valley East Cemetery. CLINTON, Sheila C. (nee Goddard) of St. Thomas, Ont.
Sheila Clinton (nee Goddard) of St. Thomas passed away peacefully at Caressant Care – Bonnie Place on Saturday, November 29, 2014 in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Donald Clinton (2010). Sheila is survived by her children Robert (Midori) Clinton of Mexico, Micki (Randal) Armitage, and Karilee (Paul) Nadeau both of British Columbia; her grandchildren Tyson and Meghan Clinton of Montreal, Zachary and Ila Armitage of British Columbia, Heather, Justin, and Ashley Nadeau of British Columbia; two great grandchildren Riley and Bentley; daughter-in-law Nikki (George) Abbott-Hayes of Quebec; sister-in-law Marg Clinton of St. Thomas; and by many other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son Mark Lewis Clinton and by her parents Albert and Erie Goddard. Sheila was co-owner of Clinton Flowers with her late husband Donald, and was a member of Holy Angels Parish in St. Thomas. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas on Sunday, December 7, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00pm. A Memorial Service will take place in the Chapel at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00am. Interment of ashes at Holy Angels Cemetery.
