McGregor, Duncan Alexander “Alex”

McGregor, Duncan Alexander “Alex” of Parkwood Hospital, London and formerly of St. Thomas passed away at his late residence on Sunday March 22, 2015 in his 92nd year. Dearly loved husband of over 72 years of Freda (Hepburn) McGregor and loving father of Marlyn Roszell (late Larry Roszell), Peter McGregor and his wife Sandra and Richard McGregor and his wife Susanne. Loving grandfather of Tracey (Roszell) Bates, David (Julie) Roszell, Todd (Theresa), Trevor, Tyler (Meagan), Cary (Silva) and Michelle McGregor. Loving great-grandfather of Tanner, Blake and Harrison Bates, Riley, Tanner and Carter McGregor, Megan and Allison Roszell and Payton and Alexandra McGregor. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dear brother of Robert McGregor of Paris. Predeceased by siblings Mary McKillop, Edith Stewart, Irene McGregor, Jean O’Toole, William McGregor, Ken McGregor, Peg Burd and Maizie Posmerleau. Alex was born April 30, 1923 in Swathmore, Saskatchewan, the son of the late Peter Duncan and Jane (Forest) McGregor. He was an engineer with Conrail. He also farmed. He served in the Air force from 1943 to 1946. Alex was a member of the St. Hilda’s-St. Luke’s Anglican Church, the Port Stanley 55 Club, the St. Thomas Legion and was also a member of the Moose Lodge.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday March 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Hilda’s-St. Luke’s Anglican Church (185 Elm St., St.Thomas). Visitation at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Donations may be made to the Parkwood Hospital or the St. Thomas Legion Poppy Fund.

Mott, Judy Angela

Mott, Judy Angela of Union, passed away peacefully, on Monday, March 23rd, 2015, surrounded by her loving family, in her 50th year. Dearly loved wife of John Mott and much loved mother of Kristyn and Jessica. Loved daughter Renato and Regina (Serraglio) Maniago of London. Dear sister of Vivian Donaldson (Wes) of Ottawa and Robert Maniago (Linda) of Calgary. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Judy was born in London on June 5th, 1965. She worked as an E.A. for the Thames Valley District School Board (Southwold Public School).
A private family service will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon. Cremation to follow. No public visitation. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Parachoniak, Norma Rose

Parachoniak, Norma Rose of St. Thomas, passed away on Thursday, March 19th, 2015, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Rudolph Parachoniak (1965) and dearly loved mother of Sharon Rabbets (Paul) of Aylmer, Rudy Parachoniak (Deb) of Goderich, Gregory Parachoniak (Judy) of St. Thomas. Shelly Parachoniak (Paul) of St. Thomas and the late Daniel Parachoniak and his wife Brenda of St. Thomas. Predeceased by an infant daughter Verna Ann. She was the last of her family. Sadly missed by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Norma was born in Toronto on February 21, 1926, the daughter of the late William and Elsie Feaver. She worked at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital.
Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery. Visitation Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Robson, Peter

Robson, Peter of Sparta, passed on Saturday, May 17th, 2014, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital at the age of 74. Dearly loved husband of Eleanor Robson and loved father of Steven Robson (Carol) of Sparta and Virginia Smith (David) of Cambridge and the late Ian Robson and their mother Winnie. Cherished granddad of Jeffrey and Allison Robson and Madison (Kevin) and Abigail. Dear brother of Les Robson (Maria) of Wasaga Beach, the late John Robson (Mary of Fergus), Late Betsy Goswell (Roger of Port Stanley) and the late Alan Robson (Laura of Port Stanley) and great granddad of Piper Rae. Peter was born in London, England on April 10, 1940, the son of the late Charlie and Sarah “Sally” (Sydes) Robson of England. Peter came from England in 1966 and settled in Southwest Ontario. He moved to Sparta in 1981 where he became a world renowned artist. He was a long time member of the St. Thomas Kinsmen Club. He had a passion for soccer and followed his favourite team Arsenal. Throughout his life he contributed and believed in being charitable. He was recognized for his philanthropy and was awarded by the St. Thomas Rotary Club the “Paul Harris Fellow Award”, for which he was very proud. Peter and his brother Alan contributed greatly to the Pinafore Park “Memory Garden” where they worked together to create all the sculptures within the garden, which he called “a work of love”. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the St. Thomas Golf and Country Club.
The funeral service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 55 Hincks St., St. Thomas on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Malcolm Rust officiating. Interment to follow in Sparta Cemetery. Visitation at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Memory Garden at Pinafore Park or the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Foundation.

DeLouw, Maria (Mary)

DeLouw, Maria (Mary) of Valleyview Home, St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, at her late residence, on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Anthony “Tony” DeLouw (2007) and loved mother of Murray DeLouw (Anita) and children Janine, Leanne (Brad), Alaina, and Jordan (Maigan). Dianne Boston (Steve) and children Natalie Volkmann (Nathan) and Lindsay O’Connor (Dave). Allan DeLouw and his children Kari, Jeremy and Eric . Rosemary Palmer (Dave) and children Craig and Ryan Palmer (Christina). Predeceased by a son-in-law Fred Palmer (2003). Cherished great grandmother of Ashton and Cameron O’Connor and Benny and Leah Volkmann. Dear sister of Wilma Van Rossum of London. Predeceased by a number of brothers and sisters in Holland. Sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. Mary was born in Holland on June 13, 1922, the daughter of the late Albertus and Lamberdina (Van Genughten) Dortmans. Maria was the second eldest of eight children. She came to Canada in 1952 and farmed with her husband. Tony and Maria enjoyed many years with the family business (Dalewood Farm). She was a member of Holy Angels’ Church.
The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Angels’ Church on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the charity of choice.

Foster, Kathleen “Kay” Elizabeth

Foster, Kathleen “Kay” Elizabeth of Valleyview Home, St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at her late residence, in her 92nd year. Dearly loved wife of over 72 years of Burns Foster and loved mother of Judith Lynn and her husband Roger De Groote of St. Thomas and Douglas and his wife Lois Foster of Sydney River, Nova Scotia. Cherished grandmother of Douglas (Jennifer), Sandra, Patricia (Jeremy), Burns (Jan), Tim (Val) and Molly. Sadly missed by 8 great grandchildren. Kay was born in Simcoe, Ontario on January 28th, 1924, the daughter of the late George and Stella (O’Connor) Caffery. She has lived in St. Thomas since 1978 and formerly lived in Delhi. Kay was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas and a former member and Past President of the Kinette Club, Delhi.
Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St . Thomas where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. Visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-8 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital or charity of choice.

Baker, Freda

Baker, Freda of Caressant Care Home, St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Friday, March 20th, 2015, at her late residence, in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late William “Bill’ Baker (2006) and dearly loved mother of the late Delmar Baker (2010) and Douglas Baker (2001). She was the last of her family. Sadly missed by 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great , great grandchild. Freda was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec on April 18, 1917.
Resting at Williams Funeral Home ,45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home Wednesday from 12:00-1:30 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
