ARMSTRONG, Myrtle - It is with sadness the family announces the death of Myrtle E. Armstrong in her 86th year on February 28, 2010. Predeceased by her husband John (Jack) Armstrong in 1989, daughter Colleen in 2009, and son Walter (Bev) in 2009. Beloved mother of Geraldine (Ralph) Lutes, Maureen Armstrong, Bill (Teresa) Armstrong and Arlene Armstrong. Myrtle will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Rick (Carol) Leddy, Ron Leddy, James (Janine) Gardiner, Tanya Hughes, Mike Armstrong, Steven (Lisa) Armstrong, Angela Connick, Kevin (Karen) Gingras, Jacqualene Armstrong, Willy John Armstrong, Alisha Gueret (Kevin), Dorian Gueret, and Elliot Gueret. Also loved by her many great grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters Shirley Brown, Wilma (Ron) Redford and Betty (Jack) Toews. Myrtle was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed and never forgotten. A private family memorial will be held. Metropolitan Toronto Police Retiree 1987 It is with great sadness we announce the death of Mary Elizabeth Reid, dearly beloved wife of Ronald Reid, at Scarborough Grace Hospital on March 7, 2008, in her 72nd year. Mary came to Canada in 1958 to pursue her career with the Toronto Police Force. Upon retiring in 1987 spent many winter months in Florida with her husband Ron. She is survived by sisters Kathleen Hamilton, Florence (Brian) Owen of Northern Ireland, Helen Van Kapen of New Zealand, brothers Richard and wife Margaret and Francis of Bolton, U.K., also sister-in-law Lorraine and her husband Blair Douthwright, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Frederick McCracken, sister Caroline McCracken, brother-in-law Veron Reid, sister-in-law Jean Manuge and husband Darah. Family and friends will be received at the Highland Funeral Home Scarborugh Chapel, 3280 Sheppard Ave. East (just west of Warden), 416-773-0933 on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral Service on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens (Hwy. 27 and Albion Road).

GUMB, Katherine Elizabeth (Betty) - Peacefully at University Hospital, London on Thursday, March 11, 2010. Katherine Elizabeth 'Betty' Gumb of Thorndale in her 74th year. Predeceased by loving husband and best friend James William Gumb. Dear mother of Carolyn Elizabeth and her husband Gary R. Noble of Thorndale, Steven James of Trenton, and Brian Edmund and wife Sandra Monica of Grand Bend. Dear sister to John Kenneth Maddox and his companion Judith Sadgrow of Prince George, BC, and William Robert and his wife Deanna Maddox of Thorndale. Cherished grandma to Blair and wife Rikki- Lyn, Shayne, Tera, Mark, Leandra, Maria and Luis. Great grandmother 'GG' to Abygale, Clintan, and Aleha. Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews.Friends will be received at the MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 1559 Fanshawe Park Road (east of Highbury), London, on Saturday, March 13 from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., for visitation. Mrs. Margaret Ella "Betty" Tucker (nee Barton)

It is with joyful hearts that we announce a reunion in heaven. The Father called Ella home on March 12, 2010 where she has joined her loving husband Cecil (1997) and her sons Bart and Gary. Ella was born in Nova Scotia in 1916 and came to Windsor, ON in 1934 where she met and married Cecil Tucker. Ella was the mother of 5 children; Barton (1998) and Diane; Gary (1996) and Margaret; Whitman and Heather; David; and Susan and Robin Paulton. Ella was a wonderful Nana to her 16 grandchildren and their spouses, who have given her 34 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. Ella was at one time a championship basketball player and throughout life, an accomplished pianist. She was a co-founder of the original Tucker Electric Ltd. with her husband Cec. Family and friends are invited to gather at St. David's Anglican Church 3401 Byng Rd. (at Foster) for a celebration of Ella's life on Saturday, March 20, 2010 from 12:30 pm until the time of the service at 1 pm. Mr. John Murray Tonge
October 29, 1948 - March 8, 2008
Age 59, Toronto, died peacefully, March 7, 2008 at Toronto General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born November 29, 1948 in Chengtu, China, he was a son of Walton Hibbert and Muriel (Kitchen) Tonge who were serving as United Church missionaries in China. Murray graduated from the University of Western Ontario School of Law in 1973 and was admitted to the bar in 1975. He began his career with Canada Trust in 1975 as General Solicitor and advanced to Vice President Pension Trust, Regional Vice President Prairie Region in 1997 and to Vice President of Retail Projects in 1999. In retirement, Murray continued as a Consultant for TD Canada Trust leading many key projects for the newly merged Bank until 2005. Upon completion of these assignments, he tackled his dream project which was to manage the construction of a beautiful family cottage on Lake Chandos in the Kawarthas. This project was successfully completed in 2007. Last summer, Murray was stricken with cancer and he attacked it with the same strength and determination to win that he had brought to all aspects of his life. He refused to let this illness get in the way of his many plans and he was sure that, with the help of the experts, he could gain the upper hand. Sadly, this is the one battle that was lost but his courage and strength will live on as an inspiration to all who shared this journey with him. Murray is survived by his loving wife Pat, mother Muriel, sons Graham (Y.L.) and Philip (Mariana), daughters Robyn (Diego), Pamela (Tony), Lindsay, brother David (Gail), sisters Leslie (Allan) Foster, Elizabeth (Josef) Gorek, grandchildren Amoren and Matthew, aunt Gwen Heatherington (Ken) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Highland Funeral Home, 3280 Sheppard Ave. East, Scarborough, 416-773-0933, where Murray's family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008. Funeral services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2008. in the Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Olav Kitchen (Muriel's brother and Murray's uncle) will officiate. It is with great sorrow that the family of Walter announces his passing at the Kingston General Hospital with his family at his side, on Saturday March 8, 2008, in grace, in his 67th year. Walter leaves behind his loving wife Miep of 27 years. He will be sadly missed by his two devoted daughters, Suzanne (Rodney) and Kristine (Greg). Cherished grandpa to Michelle, Lee, Conner and Madison. Beloved great-grandfather to Chloe and Caitlin. Walter will be dearly missed by his brother John, and his sister Theresa.
