Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer at the Lakeridge Health in Oshawa, on November 15, 2006, in his 65th year. Beloved husband of Flora. Loving father of Chrissie (Herve) Cursano, Richard (Dawn), Scott (Andrea) Maidens, Val (Scott) Maidens, Lesley (Richard) Maidens. Grandpa Derm will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Morgane, Stefan, Logan, Ashley, Brent, Mitchell, Lee, Amelia and Robbie. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Hilary (Peter), Brett (Andy), and David and his faithful companion "Buddy". As a Major and RCA, Derm was very active with the Canadian Cadet Movement. He will be missed by many Officers and Cadets alike. In memory of Derm, memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society Durham Region or to a Charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
BAYLEY, Horace James (Jim)

Passed away peacefully at the Regency Manor in Port Hope on November 14, 2006, in his 82nd year. Jim will be sadly missed by his wife June of 58 years. Loving father of Brent and his wife Jenny Bayley of Port Hope, Mark and his wife Brenda Bayley of Ancaster. Proud grandfather of Morgan Bayley, Emma (Justin) MacGreggor, Lucy (Jason) Mitchell and great-grandfather of Ben, Noah, Olivia and Sophia. Survived by his brother Edward Bayley of Barrie and predeceased by Frank Bayley. Jim was a life long scholar and educator at the North York Board of Education and in the field of Aviation as a passionate flight instructor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Alzheimer Society or to the Charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
BROOKS, Frederick 'Fred' George
Suddenly, on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, in his 54th year. Beloved husband of Jane for 31 years. Devoted and loving father of Ian and Aaron. Cherished brother of Gail Desjardins and her husband Brent Nicholas, Valerie Thorndyke and her husband James Flieler and Murray Brooks and his wife Janette. Will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his mother Berneta Brooks and his parents Laura and George Brooks. CRAIG, Ronald "Ralph"
Peacefully at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa on Tuesday, November 14th, 2006, one week before his 84th birthday. Ralph was a W.W.II Veteran enlisting in the army in Toronto on October 1942 and was discharged in March 1946. He was a RCE Sergeant and was stationed in Chilliwack, B.C. He was the beloved son of William and Eva Craig and devoted and loving husband to Doris (Heaslip) for 63 years. He was the cherished "Dad" to his children: infant son Kenneth (predeceased), daughter, Janis Boyle (Merrick), son, Ron Craig (Ann), daughter, Gail Houle (Rick), son, Ted Craig, daughter, Nancy Hogan (Bill) and daughter Carolyn Craig. Ralph will be sadly missed by his 10 grandchildren: Todd Baker (Karen), Jill Baker (Marc), Angela Boyle, Tara Yeo (Scott), Dana Craig (Christine), Jenna Craig, Kelly Schmidt (Jonathan), Jeffrey Houle (Adrienne), Craig Hogan (Shannan) and Terri Hogan (Derek). He also leaves behind 10 great-grandchildren: Jessica, Kyle and Hailey Baker, Conor and Kayla Yeo, Cassandra and Emma Craig, Jayce and Kylie Schmidt and baby boy Hogan expected very soon. He was predeceased by his brother, Elmer and leaves behind his sister, Rena Smegal, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ralph enjoyed 21 good years of retirement from PPG, where he worked as a tool and die maker for 33 years. He enjoyed life at his cottage on Whitestone Lake. He will also be missed by the Heaslip family, his friends and neighbours of Kedron as well as his 4-legged friends: Rusty, Boomer and Jasper. Cremation has taken place and a private family service was held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. West (905-721-1234). In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations to the Durham Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the Oncology staff at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa for their compassionate care.
We'll remember you as a kind and caring gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor.
