ROBERTS, Lindsay Neil
Suddenly on Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, in his 75th year. Lindsay, beloved husband of 53 years to Rita (Handy) Roberts. Cherished father of Dean (Susan), Andrew (Kim), Rick, Brent (Ann), and predeceased by daughter Arlene (Don). Dearest Pappy to Jennifer (Wade), Amanda, Dylan, Jack, Evan, Malcolm, Zachary, and Alexandria. Survived by brother Kenneth (Chris) and sister Gladys. Uncle to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great- nephews. Friends may call at the NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S., on Friday, September 15, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in NEWCASTLE UNITED CHURCH on Saturday, September 16, at 2:00 p.m., with visiting in the church from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Cremation. Donations in Lindsay's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by his family.

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband Roger, son Davey, parents Bob & Bev Burtch, brother-in-law Paul at Sunnybrook Womens Hospital on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at the young age of 34. Debbie, beloved wife of Roger. Mother of Brandon & Kelly, step- mother to Roger & Jean Sararas. Will be sadly missed by grandmother Bertha Burtch, aunts & their families Betty Valier, Marlene Gray, brother David and the McRae, Morgan, Adams, Cripps, and Whitehead families. Also missed by sister-in-law Betty Robinson, and brother-in-law William Sararas. Predeceased by daughter Kristen, and grandparents Ivan & Leona Cochrane and grandfather Cecil Burtch. Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with funeral service in the Chapel on Monday, September 18, 2006 at 11 a.m. Interment Thornton Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Kidney Foundation or the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday 7 - 9 p.m.

WILKINSON, Diane Ellen (ne้ Smith)
After a long and courageous learning journey with cancer, Diane's walk ended on September 12, 2006. Only daughter of the late Josephine and Robert A. Smith and sister of the late Wilfred D. Smith, Diane is survived by her dearly beloved husband Bob; her brother Robert K. Smith and several cousins. She was a teacher, a dedicated lover of the theatre and a devoted member of the United Church of Canada. As a teacher Diane helped with the growth of many special children. She was honoured with six "THEAS" as a theatre director, and was delighted to be presented with a Life Membership from the United Church Women. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at 11am at ST. MARK'S UNITED CHURCH, 201 Centre St. S., Whitby with a reception following immediately. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mark's Building Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. The warmest of "thank you's" are expressed to the Lakeridge Health Oshawa Oncology and Palliative care staff, her nurse Kathy Frederick, and to all who helped with Diane's care and comfort.

Peacefully on Monday, September 11, 2006 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in her 64th year. Beloved daughter of the late. Jackie will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her care giving family of 17 years Carol and Archie Bell of Bowmanville. Loved by the Brogno and Mammone families in Cosenza, Italy. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Adam Maryn, Robert Maryn, Rosie Mammone and Nicholas Mammone. Mother-in-law of Sandra and Casey. Resting at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice 905-432-8484 (Sandringham Dr. and Highway #2, Courtice)with Mass of Christian Burial in St. Therese Catholic Church, Courtice on Thursday, September 14th at 1:00 PM. PREBBLE-COOPER, Brody James
Passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 11, 2006, at the tender age of 9. Beloved son of Jodie and Brad. Dear brother of Ceilidh. Loving step-son of Jenn. Cherished grandson of Kate and Brian, Nana and Papa, Barber and the Poor Guy. Nephew of Jeff, Uncle Eddy, Lisa and Stacey. Great-grandson of Ken and Ethel, Frank and Vi, Pearl, and Marnie. He will be deeply missed by his family, many friends and classmates. Funeral Mass at St. Bernadette's Roman Catholic Church (S.E. corner of Bayly St. and Harwood Ave., Ajax) on Friday, September 15, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation. Suddenly, but peacefully at home on Monday, September 11th, 2006 in his 82nd year, he went to be with the Lord. John "Jack" is survived by his dearly beloved wife Mary of forty one years; loving son Rob and predeceased by his dear son John (1989). Sadly missed by his cherished grandson Tanner, dear sisters Muriel, June and Sally and her husband Glen Hyde. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Mary Twigg, brothers and sisters Harold, Helen, Jean, May, Louise, Isobel, Allen, Ruth, Robert and Kenneth. GILES, Robert William
Suddenly at home on Sunday, September 10, 2006. Born on May 31, 1923 at Manitoulin Island, Ontario. Son of the late Annie and Arthur Giles. Robert joined the Royal Canadian Navy at the age of 18 and served honourably on the H.M.C.S. Prince Robert. He was employed at Hillsdale Manor as an R.N.A. until retirement. Robert is survived by his loving partner Roberta, his daughter Sharon and his sister May. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with Funeral Service in the Chapel on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 11 a.m. Interment Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens. YOUNGHUSBAND, Harold Vincent (Hal)
Passed away peacefully Sunday morning September 10, 2006 at Rouge Valley Centenary at the age of 65 after a long battle with cancer. He will be sadly missed by his wife Glenda (ne้ Kay) and sons Ronald (Karen), Michael (Jennifer); grandchildren Jacob, Travis, Christopher, Taryn; foster grandsons Wilson and Ronnie; brothers Raymond (Betty), Norman (Stella) and sister Helen. Good friend and confidante to many friends and extended family members. Popular DJ at Royal Canadian Legions #73 and #66 and numerous weddings, parties and banquets over the last 35 years. Longstanding member of the Oshawa Airport Golf Club. A celebration of Hal's life will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at 11am (weekend after Thanksgiving) at St. Paul's-on-the-Hill Anglican Church, 882 Kingston Rd. Pickering, (Hwy#2, east of Whites Rd. -additional parking at top of the hill, off Sheppard Ave.E). In lieu of flowers donations to the Children's Wish Foundation or a Charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Peacefully at his home in Hampton on Saturday, September 9, 2006 in his 90th. year. Joined forever with his beloved wife, the late Ruth Jane (DeHart 1996). Much loved father of Roger & Anne, Marilyn Walsh (late Brian Saylor) and Gloria & Douglas Guitar. Dear grandfather of Tanya & her husband Mark White, Andrea Farrow, Lance Farrow and Emerson Guitar. Proud great-grandfather of Emily Marie Farrow, and Madeline Ruth Marie White. Survived by sisters Marjorie, Marion, Doreen, Dorothy and Betty. Predeceased by brothers and sisters Laverne, Myrtle, Edna, Hazel, Lawrence and Bill. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
