TRUNTAEW, Nikolai
It is with deep sadness the family announces the death of a dear Brother-in-law and uncle, Nikolai (Nick) Truntaew on Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Rouge Valley Health Centre in Ajax, Ontario. Nikolai was born on April 27, 1918 in Russia to Ivan and Tatijana Truntaew. Nikolai was a W.W. II veteran. Following the war Nikolai moved to Belgium, where he met his future wife, Anna and they married on November 12, 1947. In 1951, they immigrated to Canada, to live in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, where he worked at Kerr-Addison Mine. In 1953, he was instrumental in building an Orthodox Church on Taylor Avenue in Kirkland Lake. In 1964, they moved to Ajax, Ontario, where they lived on Archer Drive. Nikolai worked for Drew Chemicals until his retirement in 1983. His favorite summer destination was his yearly trip to Sesekinika, Ontario, to fish on Ranta's Point. When Nikolai and Anna's health declined, they moved to Winbourne Park. Nikolai was predeceased by his loving wife, Anna in 2004 and his entire family, who perished during the war. His Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Maksym and Daria Juryiczuk. His Brother-in-law, Dmytro Stanczenko and Onne Ranta. Nikolai is survived by his Sisters-in-law, Olga (late Dmytro) Stanczenko of Mississauga, Ontario, and Mary (late Onne) Ranta of Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Nikolai will be greatly missed by his loving nephews and nieces, Nick Stanczenko of Vancouver Island, B.C., Raisa (Bernhardt) Wesenberg of Thousand Oaks, California, Vera (Kirk) McCallum of Mississauga, Steve (Susan) Ranta of Kirkland Lake, Selina (Andre) Dufresne of Ajax. He will be lovingly remembered by Great-Nephews and Nieces, Jenny McCallum of Mississauga, Twins Matthew and David Wesenberg of Thousand Oaks, California, and Emily and Molly Ranta of Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Nikolai will be lovingly missed by his god-Daughter, Valentina (Doug) Wark and sons, Gregory and Andrew of Haileybury, Ontario. Friends were received at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street, East, Oshawa (905) 433-4711. Funeral Service was held at St. John's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 31 Bloor Street, East, Oshawa, on Tuesday, August 29th. at 9:30 a.m. Interment, St. Wolodymyr-St. & Olha Cemetery. Visitation commenced Monday from 7 - 9 p.m. Panachyda was held on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and appreciation to Selina and Andre Dufresne for their loving and devotional care they provided to Nikolai and Anna for so many years.

Peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at the Providence Health Care Centre, Scarborough. Pauline Starzynski, in her 88th. year, dearly beloved wife of the late Konstanty "Kony" Bednarek. Loving mother of Edward Frank Bednarek and his wife, Kathleen, Theodore Andrew Thaddaeus "Ted" Bednarek and his wife, Daphne Icyl Bednarek of Scarborough, and Diana Marie Tuer of Florida. Mother-in-law of William Frank Tuer. Dear grandmother of Heather Richman and her husband, Neil of Virginia, Shannon Tuer of Panama, and Holly Jimnez and her husband, Luis and Ashley Bednarek. Great-grandmother of Zachary and Austin Richman of Virginia. Sister of Henry and Casimir Starzynski, both of Oshawa. Mrs. Bednarek, along with her husband, Kony, operated Bednarek Hardware in Oshawa, from 1945 to 1967. Mrs. Bednarek also worked in the children's ward at the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital for thirteen years, until her retirement. Entered into rest peacefully with his loving wife, Maria Amelia and son, Richard by his side at Alcochete, Portugal, on August 23, 2006. Mario was born December 7, 1927 in Portugal, passed away at the age of 78. Mario worked at General Motors for 35 years. Beloved husband of Maria Amelia and loving father of son, Richard of Oshawa, and predeceased by son, Joćo Manuel D'Sousa. Lovingly remembered by his three sisters, Edalina Santos, Angentina Juncal and Maria DeJesus Melo and their husbands, Jose Melo, Arnaldo Santos, deceased Joaquim Juncal. Also his brothers-in-law, Augusto Lopes and his wife, Maria Emelia Lopes, Joćo Lopes and his wife, Elena Lopes. And all his nieces and nephews and great-grandnieces and nephews in Canada. Mario will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his loved family and friends in Oshawa and Portugal.

Peacefully at his home in Wilmot Creek, after a full and happy life, with Marie, his beloved wife of 60 years at his side. He was proud of his sons and their wives, David and Geri, Paul and Celia, and Roy and Jackie. Grandchildren were another blessing, Derek, Scott, Glenn, Adrienne (Dan), Mark, (Amy), Janet (Frank), Jennifer (Geoff) and Christine (Marc). On August 23rd, 2006, Sydney Robinson passed away in his 82nd year. Sydney was born December 19th, 1924 in Manchester, England. Beloved husband of Marjorie for 60 years.
