Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer, on August 21st, 2006. Loving husband of Jane. Devoted father of Tyler, Riley, Caitlin, Rachele and Travis. Beloved son of Clyde and Charlene. Dear brother of Cindy (Jerry), Karen (Brad), Tracey (Chris) and Jodi. Cherished grandson of Fred and Olga Swarbrick. TWINE, Olga
Peacefully at Fosterbrooke Nursing Home in Newcastle, on Monday, August 21, 2006, at the age of 86. Olga was predeceased in 2003 by her husband, Tom of more than 64 years. Loving mother of Terry and his wife, Beverly. Baba will be dearly missed by her grandsons, Gregory (Nicole) and James, and her great-granddaughter, Victoria, and great-grandson, Evan. No visitation; instead, we ask Olga's friends and extended family to each remember and celebrate privately, the person who was Olga. The immediate family will hold a private memorial service following cremation, at Thornton Cemetery. TURNER, Adha (nee Cecchettini)
1924-2006
On August 21st, 2006 in her 83rd year. Adha (Lorna) Turner passed away peacefully at Oshawa General Hospital. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Garfield; she was loved by her daughter, Cheryl Daniela, son, Dr. Tyrone Silvio (Cynthia), granddaughters, Sarah, Hannah and Theodora and grandson, Adrian. Born in Oriolo Romano, Italy, her mother, Francesca (nee Corsalini) and baby sister, Norma, died of diphtheria when she was three years old. Her father, Valentino, married again, Concetta (nee Pennello) and she grew up in a loving family with sisters, Norma and Elsa (predeceased) and brothers, Giovanni and Franco (predeceased) in Viterbo, just north of Rome. During WWII, in Rome, she met Garfield (RAF) and followed him to Derby (U.K.), in 1945. After having Tyrone and Cheryl, acquiring many friends and new relatives, along with a unique English accent which combined Roman and British Midland Dialects, she emigrated to Canada, in 1957, following her friends, Freda and Wilf Holyoake. She approached life as an immigrant and a survivor, loving, family oriented and always practical. After Garfield died in 1994, she became the devoted companion of Dr. Herbert Chang, and came to know his loving son, Dr. Walter Chang, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, and Herbert's large extended family. She was a fighter to the end, stating 'I survived the war so I can beat this.' Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada in memory of Adha.

Cherished mother of Anna (Art Cheater), Tony (Ruth), Eveline (David Ginn), Paula Lucas, and Pat and Hester Nevin. Loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Beloved sister of Eveline Nevin and the late Josephine, Jack and Anna. Dear aunt of Anna Linley, Rosemary, Jacqueline, Eveline and the late Brian Nevin. Rosaleen will also be sadly missed by her many family members and friends in Northern Ireland, as well as here in Canada. DWERNYCHUK, Alec (Ilko)
Peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at his home in Oshawa, at the age of 85. Alec will be deeply missed and very much loved by his sons Alan and Edward Dwernychuk. He was the last surviving of the 8 children, born to late Vera and Alec Dwernychuk. Alec will be missed and remembered by Rose Sanuk. He was a proud WWII veteran who was a translator during the war and immigrated to Canada, in the early 1950's. Peacefully, on Saturday, August 19, 2006 in his 61st year. Loving father of Yvel, Teddy and Michelle. Cherished grandfather to Trystan and Tayler. Survived by his brother, Ronald and his cousin, Viola and Robert. Norman is predeceased by his parents, Eva Arsenault and Henry Joseph Goguen and by his best friend, Butch. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Tom just for being with Norman and to Cornerstone for being his second family and for providing a Service of Remembrance. JOHNS, Lorna Ruth (Wyatt)
February 25, 1920 - August 19, 2006
In the early hours of Saturday, August 19, Lorna Johns passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. True to her strong character, she had battled illness for the past few months but succumbed ultimately to a will even stronger than her own. Born in Brixham, England, Lorna was a "War Bride"; the wife of the late William Douglas Johns, and the mother of six children including Yvonne, Adrienne (Brian Brady), Ian (Gloria), Garth (Deborah), Miriam (Herb Terry), and Wyatt (Monica). She was the loved Grandmother of 20 and the Great Grandmother of 12. One of a family of seven, Lorna is survived by her sister, Margaret Soffe in Brixham, England, brother, Dave in Nakusp, British Columbia, and sister-in-law, Meta Johns in Calgary, Alberta. Thanks are extended to the staff of LHO for their compassionate care of Lorna and her family as we struggled through the final phase of Mom's life. Special thanks go to the nurses of 3F including Helen G., Shirley, Kathy, Jody, Janice, Lisa, Lynn, physiotherapist Carol and others we may have forgotten. Thanks to Drs. Pedretti, Weir and Ginsberg, and Chaplain Michael Bishop for their support.
