NISBET, Thomas A.
July 5, 1928 - August 2, 2006
Sadly, but with grateful thanks for his life, the family announces the passing of Tom on August 2, 2006. He is survived by his loving wife, Irene (nee Bino), and his two daughters, Catharine Dalton & Susan Pettes. Tom grew up and made his home in Oshawa, and has certainly left his mark. His miles of walking became of neighborhood trademark. He was always happy to stop and chat or pass out a candy. Tom spoke, often, of how lucky he was to have such a wonderful wife. He willingly became a guinea pig to any of her new recipes. We think this is why he walked so much. Nothing would please him more than spending a Sunday morning sharing a box of donuts with his grandchildren, Courtney, and Mitchell Dalton. He happily greeted his youngest grandchildren, William and Sarah Pettes, with a two thumbs up and a resounding "eh". Grandpa affectionately became "eh". Tom shared his daughters' enthusiasm for figure skating as a judge and as black ice's biggest fan. He was a regular fixture at the team's practices. For many of the skaters he will always be known as grandpa. His homemade fudge was legendary, as was his sense of humor. It seems like only yesterday when Tom and his son-in-laws, Doug Dalton, and Michael Pettes, banded together at the cottage for one of their infamous BBQ's. He loved his cottage! Our years are filled with unforgettable memories because of the way he has touched each and every one of us. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. They say a man's success is measured by the people he leaves behind. Tom was indeed a rich man; he loved his life and he lived it to its fullest.
