HEATH, Alfred Wray
(Veteran W.W. II RCAF, pilot 2nd TAC; 40 years with Crown Life Insurance Company)
Peacefully, on December 7, 2003, in his 84th year. Devoted husband of the late Mary and the late Edna; beloved father of Bob (Wendy) of Port Perry, and Mary Jane (Eric Howell) of Calgary; loving grandfather of David Heath (Genevieve), Rob Heath (Amanda), Chris Heath, Jeff Howell and Gord Howell; and proud great-grandfather of William Heath. Wray was predeceased by his mother Ellen, his father Thomas, and his brothers Thomas and Arthur. Cremation has already taken place. There will be a private family service at a later date. Wray's family wishes to thank all of his wonderful care givers at Sunrise Assisted Living of Unionville, who filled his final days with dignity and love. Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth... Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

LaROCCA, Valerie Joan

Peacefully, after a hard fought illness, on Sunday, December 7, 2003 at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa, at age 55. Valerie (nee Edgar), beloved wife of Anthony LaRocca of Scugog Island. Loving mother of Gary LaRocca of Ottawa and Kelly LaRocca of Toronto. Dear sister of Fay Koss, Gary Edgar and Bob Edgar. The family of Valerie LaRocca will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905 985-2171) on Tuesday, December 9th from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, Health and Resource Centre, 22600 Island Road, Port Perry on Wednesday, December 10th at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dean Bursey officiating. Private interment Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Oshawa General Hospital Foundation, Oncology Department.

MYSCHOWODA, Stephen
Retired General Motors after 31 years service.
Peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, December 7, 2003 at his home in Oshawa in his 82nd year. Stephen Myschowoda, beloved husband of Anne Myschowoda (nee Gliber). Loved father of Nestor Myschowoda and his wife Laurel, and Tony Myschowoda and his wife Allie. Loving Dido of Clairissa, Christopher, Jesse, and Kyle. Stephen will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his loved family and many friends. Friends may call at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street Fast, Oshawa, on Tuesday, December 9th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Panachyda in the chapel of the funeral home at 7;3Opm. Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial on Wednesday, December 10th at 10:00am at St. George the Great Martyr Ukrainian Catholic Church (Lviv and Albert Streets). Interment St. Wolodymyr and St. Olha Ukrainian Cemetery, Courtice. Memorial Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

SCHURINK, Florence Katherine
Peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2003 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa at the age of 75. Florence, beloved wife of Dick Schurink. Loved mother of Carroll Ransome, the late Robert Andrew Ransome and his wife Irene Ransome, Dick Schurink and his wife Barbara, And Marianne Schurink. Loved grandmother of Katherine Kitchen, Lisa Ransome, Robin Kitchen, and Jeff Ransome and Great-grandmother of Tyler and Stephanie Damant, and Robin, Darien and Nikki Kitchen. Dear sister of May Heidman, Lois Healey, and Jim Healey and sister-in-law to Meintje Kaiser, Elizabeth Rijnhart, Anton Schurink and Albertino Deflart. Friends may call at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street Fast, Oshawa, on Wednesday, December lOth from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, December 11th at 11am. Cremation with private family interment at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens, Whitby. Memorial Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

BELL, Geraldine Frances
At Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Saturday, December 6, 2003. Geraldine, beloved wife of the late Bruce Bell. Loving mother of Dan and Cathy of Oshawa, Vena and Wally, Joe and Tammy, Joan and Frank, Fred, Frank and Jen, and Art and Colleen, all of Peterborough. Sadly missed by 11 grandchildren and survived by four sisters and one brother. Friends may call at the HIGHLAND PARK VISITATION/RECEPTION CENTRE, (2510 Bensfort Rd. at River Rd. S.) on Tuesday, Dec. 9, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 10:30 a.m. Interment Highland Park Cemetery. If so desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family and may be made through NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME 1-877-987-3964, with whom arrangements have been entrusted.

DANIELS, Kenneth
Passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, December 6, 2003 at the Community Nursing Home in Pickering. Predeceased by his mother and father Edna and Leonard as well as by brothers Alf and Lloyd. He will be deeply missed by sister Edna, brother Roy and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home on Saturday, December 13, 2003 from 2 to 3 p.m. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. Cremation. Should family and friends so desire, donations to Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.

KING Gloria M. (nee Ricketts)
At Lakeridge Health Corp. Oshawa, on Saturday, December 6, 2003, Gloria, age 57. Beloved wife of Allan King. Loving mother of Penny McCarthy and husband Kevin of Bowmanville, Lisa Grant and partner Rich Browne, Jen King, Jessica King and Christopher King, all of Oshawa. Dear grandmother of Erynn McCarthy, Kassidy McCarthy and Madison Browne. Daughter of the late Percy and Dora Ricketts. Sister of Wayne Ricketts and wife Arlene of Courtice, Noel Ricketts and wife Karen of Oshawa, Doug Ricketts and wife Connie of Toronto, Sharron Turnbull and husband Paul of Fenelon Falls and Alan Crawley and wife Janet of Alberta. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Service will be held in our chapel on Thursday, December 11, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Interment Mount Lawn Cemetery. LAFFIER, Raymond James "Ray"
Peacefully at home with family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, December 6th, 2003 in his 51st year. Dearly beloved husband of Donna. Loving father of Jennifer and Mark. Dear brother of Terry Laffier of Kingston. Sadly missed by many family and friends. Friends were received at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE "Thornton Chapel", 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) for visitation on Monday, December 8th from 3-5 and 7-9 P.M. Funeral Service was held in the Chapel on Tuesday at 11 A.M. Cremation. Donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. "They say that you can measure a man's success by the number of family and friends that love him, and we know that Ray was very successful"

SHERK, Brian
Suddenly on Saturday, December 6, 2003 at the age of 48. Beloved husband of Sandra Wilson Sherk. Loving father of David. Dear son of Kenneth and Margaret Sherk of Scarborough. Brother of Carol (Doug) Jones and Barbara Sherk. Brian worked for a number of years for Bayly Communications in Ajax. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The funeral service will be held in the McEachnie Funeral Home on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Cremation. Should family and friends so desire, donations to the United Way of Ajax, Pickering and Uxbridge would be greatly appreciated.

SMITH, Pamela Kathleen
Age 57, of Marysville, Ohio, formerly of Whitby, Ontario, Canada, died at her home December 6, 2003, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 25, 1946 to the late Ida Winifred Smith in Nottingham, England. After completing her schooling she immigrated to Canada at the age of 19. She previously worked at the Ontario Workers' Compensation Board as a Special Needs Adjudicator, where she managed the unique medical and life care needs of seriously injured workers. She was admitted to the "Quarter Century Club" there in 1991 and retired from the Board in 1997, after more than 30 years of exemplary service. She moved from Canada to Marysville with her husband in 1998. She will be lovingly remembered as a kind and caring wife and a friend to all. Pam enjoyed travel, skiing, knitting and sewing, and home decorating. She was especially accomplished and devoted to her beautiful English garden. Pam was a patron of the arts enjoying the theater and collecting the works of Trisha Romance and others, and of course amassing her Longaberger basket collection. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Marysville. Her husband, Dr. Robert Smith, currently of Marysville, Ohio, and a cousin, Peter Adams of Hucknall, England, survive her, along with numerous friends. A Celebration of Pam's life will be held Thursday, December 11, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Church-on-the-Hill in Pickering. Father Don Beatty will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Division, 1639 Yonge St., Toronto, Ontario M4T 2W6. The Mannasmith Funeral Home in Marysville (937-642-1751) is assisting the family with arrangements.

ALLEN, Evelyn
At Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Friday, December 5th, 2003 age 83 years. Beloved wife of the late Clare J. Allen for 57 years. Dear mother of Wayne (Gup) and Karen & her husband Jeff Weir. Predeceased by her daughter-in-law Nelda. A Private Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday. Memorial Donations may be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation.

BAKER, Grace
At Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Friday, December 5th, 2003 aged 63 years. She will be sadly missed by her companion James Tabb and his sister Shirley & Mae; and cousin Linda Cole & her family. Lovingly remembered by her friends of Friendship Club, her Orono Community friends and Tracey & Carol. Funeral Service has taken place on Monday, December 8, 2003.
