RABY, Carl
Age 92 years. WWII Veteran.
Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Sunday, August 16th, 2009. Beloved husband of the late Louise Raby (nee Hobbs) for 67 years. Dear father of Alan & Hazel Raby; Doug Raby & Joanne Jackson and Nola Mitchell. Loving grandfather of Greg, Chris, Joe, Erin, Craig, Graham, Alex, Amber & Brandon and great-grandfather of Logan. Predeceased by his sisters Evelyn Moorcraft and Greta Couch and brother Harold Raby. A Private Graveside Service will be held. Memorial Donations may be made to the Memorial Hospital Foundation- Bowmanville through THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville with whom the arrangements have been entrusted.

LEWIS, Mary Louise (nee Moore)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Lewis at the age of 87. Mary died at Hillsdale Estates on Saturday, August 15th, 2009 with her family at her side. Dearly loved wife of Elmer Lewis for 66 years. Much loved mother of David Lewis (Cathy) of Toronto, Michael Lewis (Donna), Margaret (John Nicholls), Helen (Gordon Richardson) and Monica (Stan Cockerton) all of Oshawa, Stephen Lewis of Jasper Alta., and Dianne Dunham of Courtice. Grandmother of Dawn, Darren, Sarah, Shannon, Bethany, Andrew, Alison, Gregory, Lauren, Daniel, Beth, Matthew, Mark, Stephen, Jenna and Catie. Great-grandmother of Peter, Ella, Chloe, Gemma, Wyatt, Matthew and Owen. Survived by her sisters Barbara Pankhurst and Josephine Gallop both of Oshawa, sister-in-law Helen Moore of Lindsay and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers George, Gordon, William and sisters Isabelle St. Pierre, Margaret Barnum, Kathleen Patterson, Angela Amey and sister-in-law Leta Lewis. Resting at MEMORIAL CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby. Visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 130 Watford Street, Brooklin on Tuesday, August 18th at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Whitby. In memory of Mary, donations may be directed to the R.S. McLaughlin Cancer Center, Oshawa or St. Leo Catholic Church Building Fund. Prayers will be said in the chapel Monday at 8:00 p.m.

MASSON, Alexander
At his home in Oshawa on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Doreen. Loving father of Sandra (Kelly) and Glen (Linda). Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Conrad, Sean Michael (Lisa), and James (Ashley) and his great-grandson Blaize. Dear brother-in-law of Audrey (Duncan). ncle to Duncan Jr. (Lorie) and Kevin (Paula). Great-uncle to Connor. Special thanks to neighbours Ilone and Reiner Messerschmidt, and the Palliative Care Unit at LHO. At Alexander's request cremation has taken place. The Family will receive friends at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice from Noon until 1PM Saturday. Memorial Service will be held at the Courtice Funeral Chapel on Saturday, August 22nd at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to a Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated.

NICHOLSON, John "George"
Born August 24, 1938, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the age of 70. Beloved and loving husband to Phyllis (nee MacNeil), cherished father to Warren and Kathleen of Oakville, Ontario, Brian and Lorraine of San Clemente, California, David of Berlin, Germany and Colin and Ashley of Vancouver, British Columbia, adored grandfather to Alicia, Ellysha, Evan, Brooke, Robert, William and Luc. Loving brother to Roger. George was born in Montreal and moved to Ontario with Imperial Oil Ltd. in 1981. George retired in 1991 after 26 years of service with Imperial Oil Ltd. George will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and many friends as an avid railway enthusiast, audio-buff, amateur photographer, music lover, golfer and devoted family man. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Andrew's Catholic Church on Friday, August 21st at 11:00 a.m. in Oakville, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the ALS Society of Ontario would be appreciated.

BARTON, Audrey Joyce (nee Cameron)
Of Bancroft ON, formerly of Toronto, ON, Whitby, ON, Bowmanville, ON, and Orillia, ON, passed away peacefully with family at her side at Quinte Health Care Hospital in Belleville ON, August 14th 2009 in her 73rd year. Beloved wife for over 55 years to Orval, mother of Wendy Townson (Len) of Newcastle ON, Shelly Crow of Fort Saskatchewan AB, Carolyn Acton (John) of Orillia ON, Ricky (Sandy) of Lindsay ON, Gary (Doreen) of Bancroft ON, Marilyn Leaver (Randy) of Sterling ON, Dale Sullivan (Shawn) of Bewdley ON, Susie Kammerer (Mark) of Bancroft ON, and Barry (Lisa) of Bowmanville ON. 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as her beloved dog Sammy will sadly miss her. As per Audrey's request there will be no funeral visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Audrey's life will be held Saturday, August 22 2009 between 2pm - 5pm at Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 19 Moose Rd. Lindsay, Ontario. Anyone wishing to honour Audrey's memory may contribute to The Canadian Cancer Society or The SickKids Foundation which may be arranged through Parker's.

Peacefully at Marnwood Lifecare Centre, Bowmanville with her family by her side on Friday, August 14th, 2009. Beloved wife of the late Fred deJong. Dear mother of the late Piet (Griet) deJong, Grace Wind (Bert), Hank (Kelly) deJong, Jane (Grant) Wright, Nick (Linda) deJong and Laina Forbes (the late Allan). She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dear sister of Sjoerd (Hillie) Pama of The Netherlands. Special Thanks to Rev. David Mundy, Rev. Cathy Russell and the Staff at Marnwood Lifecare Centre for their care and compassion. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's United Church, Bowmanville on Friday, August 21st, 2009 at 1 pm with visitation one hour prior. HUNTER, Jean Lorraine (Nee: Symons)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Hunter in her 85th year, at Lakeridge Health Port Perry, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 14, 2009. Daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Symons. Devoted and loving wife of Neil for 61 years. Forever loved and cherished mom to Bob and Linda Hunter, Pat and Paul Studinski, Jim and Shirley Hunter, Tom and Valerie Hunter. Cherished grandmother to Jennifer, Adam, and Shannon, Ryan, Lynleigh and Matt, Leslie and Frank, Greg and Emily, Ken, Jill and Gary. Great grandmother to Hunter and Lillian. Sister of Marie Ryan and the late Gordon Symons. KROES, Lambertus Gerry (Lambert)
Passed away at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on Friday, August 14th, 2009 in his 85th year. Dearly loved husband of Hendrika (Reta) Kroes for 56 years. Much loved Father of Paul and his wife Debbie of New Hamburg, John and his wife Nancy of St. Louis, Missouri, Bill and his wife Maggie of Sarnia and Henry and his wife Jane of Whitby. Grandpa of Hilary, Lindsay, Alison, Alexander, Elizabeth, Amie and Jessica. Survived by his brother Bill of Odessa and his sister Mary of Holland. Brother-in-law of Dina and Mary. Resting at MEMORIAL CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby, (905-655-3662) from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday.
