GIBBS, Ivy Eleanor
Peacefully on Tuesday, August 11th, 2009 at Sunnycrest Nursing Home, in her 99th year. Beloved wife of the late Samuel. Loving mother of David and his wife Lynne, Muriel Hurst, Dorothy Pridie and her husband Michael, and Joan Mills and her husband John. Dear grandmother of Bonnie (Chuck), Brenda (Ed), Brian (Dave), Beverley (Cookie), Alan (Cal), Elizabeth (Leanne), Noreen (Shane), Stephen (Colleen), John and Wendy. Great grandmother of Ryan, Leanne, Lindsay, Jayme and Colin. Friends may call at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Wednesday, August 12th from 7 – 9 P.M. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, August 13th at 1:00 P.M. Followed by interment at Hampton Union Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

ROCKERT, Richard Maxwell (Max)
At Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Cecelia (Cis). Loving father of Patty and Catherine. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Ronald (deceased), Lesley, Matt and Tena and his great-grandchildren Madison and Austin. Dear brother of John, Michael (deceased), Anne and Madelaine (deceased). Special thanks to the staff on 6F, and Doctors Orvak, Pavoni, Devost and Hassan. Resting at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice (905-432-8484) with Memorial Service in the Chapel on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 2:00PM. The family of Max will receive friends one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to Oshawa Hospital Foundation – Oncology Department.

RODDY, Peter Anthony
July 14, 1939 – August 11, 2009
Peter Anthony Roddy died peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 11, 2009. He was born and raised in Wallington, Surrey, England. Peter (Tony) was the third child of Thomas and Elizabeth (Rankin) Roddy. He was proud of his Irish Heritage. At age 17 he enlisted in the Royal Navy for 10 years; serving in the Scottish Isles, Scandinavia, the east coast of North America, the Caribbean and Gibraltar. He immigrated to Canada in 1967 living in Hamilton, Ontario and then Sault Ste. Marie (where he worked for the Algoma Central Railway). After being employed by Ontario Hydro, nuclear division in 1976 he lived in Deep River, Port Elgin and in Oshawa since 1983. He was the loving and beloved husband of Stephanie and father of Tom (Quyen) and Elaine (Marlon). He is survived by his brother Dennis (Elaine), sisters Mary, Kathleen (Mick) and Paddy (Ray) all of England. Peter was a great lover of the outdoors and was a skilled craftsman, his many talents included stained glass and woodworking. Peter's family sends thanks to Joan and the nurses, therapists and support workers of their home care team. The family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Friday, August 14th from 6-8 p.m. Memorial donations to Durham Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

WARRINER, Audrey Ada
Born in Brandon, Manitoba May 16, 1913. Died in Oshawa August 11, 2009 at Thorntonview Nursing Home. Daughter of the late Charles and Edith Warriner. Predeceased by her brother Roy, sister Enid ("Rusty"), brother-in-law Ian M. Greenway and nephew David. Audrey lived most of her life in Winnipeg in the family home. Audrey came to Oshawa to live in November 2006. Audrey is lovingly remembered by her nephew Paul Greenway and his wife Loralee, and their sons Ian, Bob and Michael, sister-in-law Joyce MacLeod and her husband Ian, Brian Warriner and his wife Sally, and their sons Cameron and Andrew, and Keith Warriner and his wife Diane and daughter Rhonda. Also lovingly remembered by her Winnipeg friends. Special thanks to the loving staff and residents at Thorntonview Nursing Home. A funeral service in the Chapel of St. Georges Anglican Church in Oshawa will be held on Saturday, August 15 at 12:30.

With sadness at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, on Monday, August 10, 2009. Maria Ciccone, in her 91st. year, dearly beloved wife of the late Antonio Ciccone. Loving mother of Luigi Ciccone (Pina) of Whitby and Anna Montagano (Michael) of Oshawa. Dear grandmother of Edie Pavicic (John), Maria Rocca (Marco), Vince Montagano (Juliete) and the late Tony Ciccone (Michelina). Great grandmother of Josephine, Anthony, Vanessa, Jessica, Adam and Dominique. Sister of Gilda Rosati and Salvatore Mastrangelo (Anna) and the late Carmela, Vincenzo and Pasquale. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street, East, Oshawa (905-433-4711). With Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the People Roman Catholic Church (Marion & Stevenson Rd.) on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery, Whitby. Prayers will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 13th. at 3 p.m. Memorial Donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. HARTOG, Gertruda (Grace)
February 2, 1928 - August 10, 2009
It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Grace on Monday, August 10, 2009 with her family by her side at the Ajax-Pickering Hospital. Dearly loved wife of Henk. Caring Mom of Ron (Diana), Peter and John (Leanne). Proud Grandma of Tim, Mathew, Crystal, Zach and Ariel. We consider Mom's last months with us a gift in that we were able to once again tell her how much we loved her. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation.

MADILL, Robert Decker
WW II Veteran
Peacefully at home in Pickering on August 10, 2009 surrounded by family. Bob was in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Kathleen (Kay) for 64 years. Loving father of Brian (Valerie), Marilyn Brewer (Don), Donna Norton (Dean), Patti Finch (Dennis) and Colleen Nisbet (Yvon Gravel). Bob loved and enjoyed spending time with his eleven grandchildren and his fourteen great-grandchildren. He was born and raised in Saskatoon, where he enlisted in the Canadian Navy in 1940 and served on a number of ships in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean and South Pacific until September 1945. Bob was a past member of the Canadian Legion Branch 483. He retired from General Motors in 1982. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at Pickering Village United Church on Sunday, August 16th at 1:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception. Those wishing to make donations in his memory may do so to the Salvation Army or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

O'DONNELL, Jean Campbell (nee Leckie)
Passed peacefully at home on Monday, August 10th, 2009, in her 94th year. Wife of the late John O'Donnell. Loving mother of Bob (Cathy), Jeannie, Beth Patterson (John), Tom (Mary Lou), Anne Dixon (George), Jim (Lori). Dear grandmother of Andrew, Erin, Jessica, Mark, Kristen, Alicia, Dustin, Jack, Peter and great-grandmother of Christopher. Survived by her brother Campbell (Joyce). Predeceased by her parents James and Mary Leckie and sisters Mary Duquette, Margaret Norris, Ella, Roberta and Betty Leckie. Thank you to Cheri Boissoin, Dr. Dion, Dr. Shapiro, staff of the C.C.A.C., Par Med Tammy Walsh, VHA Care, Linda Oudyk of IRP. Proud Nana of Carson, Nicholas, Zachary and Ava Grace. Daughter of the late Bruce and Hilda Stephenson. Sister of Wayne, Ray, Linda, Kenny, Mary, Tom, Terry, Lorie, Penny, Shelley and the late Robert. Karen will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, family and friends.
