EMARD, Howard
(1934 - 2009)
On Friday, September 25, 2009 Howie peacefully passed into the arms of God after a lengthy battle with cancer. Howard was a long time resident of Rundle Road, Bowmanville where he spent the past ten years looking after his elderly parents. In his early years Howard was a miner in Northern Ontario having been born in Timmins. In 1965 he moved to Bowmanville at which time he became a professional house painter. Howard is survived by his parents, Jessie and Vital Emard, two brothers Allen and Ron one sister Valerie, his loving sister-in-law Leona and his brother-in-law David Menzies. Howard will be sadly missed by 8 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Howard's battle with cancer was a testimony to the strength of the human will and his family will miss him. Our thanks go to the nurses at Lakeridge Health Oshawa who so compassionately cared for him and the entire palliative care team. Special thanks to friend Barbara Anne. A family memorial service will be held. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation.

FURLONG, John William
At the family residence on Friday, September 25, 2009. John William Furlong in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Cicily Perrault. Loving father of Linda and her husband Mark Mulligan of Queensland, Australia. Dear grandfather of Katie and Zachary. Son of the late James and Lena Furlong. Brother of the late Jim, Helen and Jean. Lovingly remembered by family and friends. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

GAUTHIER, Earl Richard
Earl was born in Mayfield P.E.I. on June 6, 1957 and passed peacefully in his 53rd year at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, on Friday, September 25, 2009 after his brave battle with cancer. Beloved son of the late Leo and Emilia. Cherished husband to Kim. Loving father to Carissa and Stephanie and son-in-law Chris. Lovingly remembered by his siblings and their spouses, Clifford, Derrick and Sandra, Wayne and Carol, Marlene and Edmund and sister-in-law Liz. Beloved son-in-law to Jim and Jane. Deeply missed by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Dan and Rona and Chris and Natalie. Fondly remembered by all his relatives and many friends. Visitation will be Monday, September 28, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, (124 King Street East, Oshawa). The funeral will be held a Zion Christian Reformed Church, 409 Adelaide Ave. E., Oshawa, on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 1:00 pm. Interment in Thornton Cemetery, Oshawa. Earl had such a generous and kind heart and we all feel blessed to have known him. Earl was a very talented home renovator and such a hard worker that he probably is helping build mansions in heaven right now. We know for sure you are playing pool and golfing with the angels. Meet you on the first tee one of these fine days Earl.

JONES, Thomas
After a brief illness at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, on Friday, September 25, 2009 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Gertrude for 61 years. Loving father of Claudiet, Claude and his wife Paulette, Jenefer, Derrick and his wife Dale-Ann, Clayton and his wife Anne, Lyden and his wife Lorraine, Pamela, Marlyn and her husband Robin, Malcolm and his wife Julie. Will be lovingly remembered by his 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and sister Shirley Thomas. Relatives and friends will be received at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 12:00 noon until time of service in the chapel at 1:00pm. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the CNIB or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated. There will be a Celebration of Thomas' Life on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 1070 Keswick Court, Oshawa, from 7:00 pm.

Loved mother of Brian Munro and his wife Robin of Bowmanville, and Blais Lawson of Red Deer, Alberta. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Brody and Braedan Munro. Resting at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice (905-432-8484) where the family will receive friends on Thursday, October 1st from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to the Charity of your choice would be appreciated.

PFEIFFER, Else Maria (nee Hetzner)
Suddenly, at home on Friday, September 25, 2009 in her 79th year. Else, beloved wife of the late Fred (1998). Loving mother of Irene (Marc) Lemieux. Dear sister of Elfredie (Walter). Else will be greatly missed by her nephews, extended family and friends. Resting at the W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas St. E Whitby. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 from 7-9pm. A funeral service will take place in the Chapel on Wednesday at 2:00 pm. Interment GROVESIDE CEMETERY. Peacefully at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto on Friday, September 25, 2009 at the age of 57. Dearly beloved husband of Anna Maria. Beloved father of Alexandra. Loving son of Ignazio and Giovanna. Loving mother of Marie Pogue (Cyril), Ray Anderson (Pat), Ron Anderson (Ruth), and Shirley Hendren (Doug). Devoted Grandmother of Judy (Mike), Brenda (Neil), Dave (Heather), Tim (Rebecca), Mark, Scott (Kristina), Jennifer, Jeff (Andrea), Kevin (Stacey) and Rob (Christa). Great-Grandma of Ryan (Nelia), Alex (Jen), Elizabeth, Neil, Lori (Steve), Mitchell, Damon, Brad, Taylor, Georgia, Jake, Emilie, Nickolas, Makenzie, Kylie, Autumn, and Great-great-grandmother of Johnathan. Friends may call at the HIGHLAND PARK VISITATION/RECEPTION CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road (at River Rd. BOYES, Lawrence Arthur
Suddenly on Thursday, September 24th, 2009, at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, in his 90th year. Lawrence quietly passed away with his daughter, Lori and granddaughter, Tiffany by his side. Lawrence will be greatly missed by relatives and his daughters, Lori Hooper (nee Boyes) and Theresa, sons Richard and Bruce. Grandchildren, Tiffany and Keith; Chance, Terence, Amber and Quinn; Courtney, Matthew and their mother Laurie. Lovingly remembered by his sisters Dorothy and Mary. Lawrence was predeceased by his loving wife Doreen and his companion Ruth Lutes. Lawrence served in WWII overseas in the Canadian Army. At St. Michael's Hospital Toronto on Thursday, September 24th, 2009, in her 42nd year. Dearly beloved wife of Joseph. Loving mother of Bree-anna and Levi. Dear daughter of Joyce Drinkill and the late William Drinkill. Sadly missed sister of Karen Bailey (Tim) and of brother Greg Drinkill (Tracy). Fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law Melanie, Kathy, Cindy, Lulu, Loretta, Marilyn, her stepmother Deanna and mother-in-law Kathleen. Sadly missed by all her family, friends and especially her canine companions Eddy, Marley, and Lola. Brenda will be remembered for her strength and the loving home she created for her family.
